So this based in the Battletech universe or just liberally 'borrowing' from it?

Probably. PGI currently is holding the IP hostage, so no competition is allowed for actual Battletech stuff.

Actually, they only hold a small part of the IP. Microsoft is the Mechwarrior IP holder. PGI has rights to make an online only FPS.

I wouldn't get too excited Blue... Yes, the books are awesome (except book 4. What a useless book that can be almost totally unread before moving on to book 5) but George Martin has already stated that there is at least 7 to 8 more books to tell the whole story. Trouble is, he releases a book about every 4 - 6 years. If one has not noticed, Mr. Martin isn't exactly what we call a spring chicken.

I was seriously going into withdraw. Was very close to emailing Blue and asking if we were talking days, weeks, or what, but was trying to be nice and supportive.

Couldn't you have just rolled down your van's window and yelled across the street while Blue was shoveling? Drummer

I'd like to see if Skinny Puppy gets paid. If not, then the government obviously thinks that per-play performances are NOT required to be paid for, and the music industry isn't going to stand for that.

HAHAAHA... The .Gov literally has a key to the patent office. Good luck getting a dime out of them.

I actually miss Blockbuster.. Where else could you get 4 DVDs for $20? I built most of my movie collection on what they sold me.

On topic: So much for Microsoft saying they are revitalizing their views towards moving into more PC gaming...

Yeah, even as a USAF veteran I have to say I never cared for the pledge for reasons approximating this. Love the heart felt national anthem though.

Some people obviously never bothered to listen to the words and understand them.

The cockpit was modded into GRID2 almost as soon as it was released. In fact, it was fuckin' scary how fast they got it out there! But, yes, it's there. Have yee faith, thine modders will do what thine publisher will not...

Outstanding! Now my interest is peaked. =) Thanks for the info!

I agree, it's pretty cool to release DLC for free. (Remember when they were *ALL* free?)...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Grid 2 doesn't have an in-cockpit view yet.. So even with the added free goodies, I'm still passing. Superior graphics only go so far, you have to immerse me. Being drug behind the car and not feeling like I'm driving it doesn't impress.

But to each his own. If you own it and enjoy it, more power to you.

What isn't these days? Plus it's so easy to get Beamer's bleeding heart all well, bleeding. Kinda hard to resist. But focusing on one word in say a 2 paragraph post, ignoring the rest of said post's content, then just labeling it trolling because it's something you don't agree with politically isn't exactly legit.

I was thinking the same thing. It's called Liberal S.I.N. Switch the subject, Ignore the facts, and Name call when logic fails.

But I digress.

No, someone bought keys with stolen credit cards and sold them, and when the cardholders protested the chargebacks occurred.

I fail to see where it was mentioned that the credit cards were stolen. It would be just as easy to buy a bunch of keys and sell them with your own credit card and then claim that it was an act of identity theft. If you buy enough keys, that would set you up for a time.

I'm not surprised that reception is worse than patchy, but even just the phone looking for a tower, or a wifi hotspot, would be enough to give away your position. All the more reason to keep it in airplane mode I suppose.

Are there any checks made to ensure the solders' private equipment is safe?

I can't go into specifics, but trust me.. the dude's cell phone wasn't emitting a signal that anyone could hear.

It's called natural selection. Let them kill themselves. I only feel bad for the poor bastard that hits them. In this day and age, we'd crucify him for hitting the idiot.

Why would a soldier in combat have an iPhone, except to act as body armour? Isn't that all kinds of dangerous?

It could give away his position (by triangulating its cell connection), photos could be geotagged or give away sensitive information - ....

Giving away his position would be a neat trick given the lack of cell towers that an iphone works with here in Afghanistan.

Propaganda much? An Iphone didn't save him, an object that changed a bullet's trajectory did. Why wasn't he wearing body armour?

Body armor doesn't cover the entire body.. And yes, we have pockets in our uniforms we can get to that isn't covered by body armor.

It is going to be some time before the game reaches the type of scale that the developers have envisioned, where there is a larger galaxy to fight over (The Inner Sphere of Battle Tech). It'll be some time before that stuff is implemented, I'd say a year or two. And being an 'free pay-if-you want to' MMO, changes and additions are going to happen slowly.

Its going to be some time before it approaches something like Eve or MWBT: 3025.

Having been involved actively in MWO since the beginning, I can say that it's an awesome experience. That being said, the developers are using a 1:1 ratio for dates. Jan 1, 2013 = Jan 1, 3050. The invasion of the clans was summer time 3050. So far, they are right on schedule as far as their releases. I wouldn't say that it will be years before we see what has been promised. I say give them 6 months.

South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana.......no it doesn't. In South Dakota you go to the Sheriff, who just hands you a little piece of paper that he signed. Boom, carry a firearm. I grew up there, there are guns EVERYWHERE. Any of the homicides that happen are usually stabbings in Rapid City. Gangs are bad and the homeless drink and fight a lot....

Add New Hampshire and Massachusetts to that list. New Hampshire is a 10 day wait and a $10 fee for residents. Out of towners pay $100 and do it by mail. Getting my LTC in MA was as simple as filling out the paperwork and waiting 30 days.

My cousin is a homicide detective in New Hampshire. Like Bats said, stabbings are the norm around there as well. If there is a gun used, it's usually the guy trying to get away from the guy with the knife.
