It's been awhile since I have been hyped up for a game like I am for this one. I hope it's as good as it looks.

I bet I'll be picking up BF3 + all DLC for $10 bucks on Steam's 2012 Christmas Sale, or 2013 at the latest. And I have a huge backlog of games to play in the meantime.

News Comments > Valve F2P Plans?
3. Re: Valve F2P Plans? Jun 18, 2011, 17:57 RaZ0r!

Enahs wrote on Jun 18, 2011, 17:03:
Seeing is how they made and released Alien Swarm for free in 2010, it is not really all the big deal or a surprising answer.

Free and F2P are two different things.

F2P is a free game that is expected to have in game micro transactions and other paid premium features. They give the game away hoping to pay for the development via the micro transactions and other pay features.

Alien Swarm was just a free game, or a gift with no micro transactions or upgraded feature available to purchase.

TF2 has micro transactions like a F2P game, but it's not a F2P game since they charge you for a copy of it. They paid for the development by charging for copies of the game, but then added micro transactions as an additional revenue stream.

I have been on the fence about purchasing Star Ruler for some time, but no more after reading their response to GameStop's purchase of Impulse.

I'll be buying it on Steam though

News Comments > Kali Port Change
4. Re: Kali Port Change Apr 3, 2011, 19:12 RaZ0r!

Back then you needed Kali to play a lot of games online, it was more then just a server browser. It was a software bridge really, and matchmaker.

Most games only supported the Novell Netware IPX/SPX protocol for LAN play, as that's what most LANs used at the time. There was no 'Internet' or TCP/IP options. Kali would route the IPX/SPX protocol over TCP/IP so you could play across the Internet.

Kali was quite a gem until games started directly supporting TCP/IP.
