If it's not on Steam, I don't buy it. Good luck EA.

I have been on the fence about purchasing Star Ruler for some time, but no more after reading their response to GameStop's purchase of Impulse.

I'll be buying it on Steam though

News Comments > Kali Port Change
4. Re: Kali Port Change Apr 3, 2011, 19:12 RaZ0r!

Back then you needed Kali to play a lot of games online, it was more then just a server browser. It was a software bridge really, and matchmaker.

Most games only supported the Novell Netware IPX/SPX protocol for LAN play, as that's what most LANs used at the time. There was no 'Internet' or TCP/IP options. Kali would route the IPX/SPX protocol over TCP/IP so you could play across the Internet.

Kali was quite a gem until games started directly supporting TCP/IP.

Well that's sad. I cut my teeth on EQ1, and I still consider EQ2 the best PvE game around. I admire them for reaching out to Vanguard and trying to make something happen with it. I also enjoyed playing The Matrix Online as well as a break from other games.

I haven't even really played the first one yet. Too backlogged on games from Steam sales. I'll try it out in a year or two.

11. Re: Rift Open Beta Event Next Week Feb 7, 2011, 19:46 RaZ0r!

I had a beta key from way back and I had no plans to mess with it. An old guild mate back from my DAOC days said I should check it out. I was stunned that I ended up playing it most of the last beta weekend. Not sure I'm sold on it, but that's farther then I've gotten with a lot of MMOs since the old days.

Steam versions use Steam DRM, no other DRM is added.

That's all I needed to know.

I'm no fan of GFWL, but I don't get the whole OMG GFWL SUXORS THE BIG ONE!!!11 AND RUINS GAMES AND I'LL NEVER BUY A GAME WITH GFWL.

I have three games that use GFWL, and other than the little blip at the start of the game telling you to press the HOME key to access GFWL, I'd never know it's there. Most people have ADD and/or don't read the instructions, so they don't realize that you can set GFWL to offline, and never have to connect to the internet, unless you want to unlock achievements or play MP.

Also, every game that I have that uses GFWL, there is a GFWL remover for it. Yes, it would be nice to not have to install GFWL at all, it's just something extra that I don't want or need, but I don't see how it ruins games.

Well I wasn't that extreme about it, but honestly there are plenty of non GFWL games to play. So why bother with with games that use it?

While I played and loved the original NWN, I have never picked up NWN2 till now so I'm looking forward to trying it out. I have Dragon Age but I have yet to really get into it.
