Who is working on Sacred 3 then?

Oh they sold off the Sacred license to Deep Silver.

Steam really does have serious volumes of junk on it. A game being on Steam used to mean a certain level of quality.

This is truth

Yes but they already had a over-successful Kickstarter. They are simply milking it with Early Access now.

Had they instead called it done, and released as is, then put out day one, two, three, four, etc patches, would that have been better?
I mean, it then would have been "finished" and patched as ongoing support as opposed to "early access" with regular updates until release.

No. I'd like to see them release the game when it's truly finished using the $625K from Kickstarter, and leave Early Access to the ones who really need it.

I think everyone is clear on my view if interested. Enjoy your discussion.

Thanks nin. I think I didn't articulate my position very well from the start, and my post asking for proof of purchases is dumb. I'm going to delete it if I can. Thanks guys.

Okay..? If Early Access helps make the game better, what exactly is the problem? Would you rather they avoid Early Access and release an inferior game?

Well in my case, the issue is they ran a Kickstarter plus Early Access. To me that's double-dipping. They not only did they meet their Kickstarter goal, they exceeded it. So why do they need Early Access now? It doesn't say anywhere on Steam that Early Access will make the game even better then was planned with their Kickstarter funds.

I'd rather see a real indie dev that really need the funds and marketing that Early Access provides in their place.

Seems I touched a nerve here. You pro-publisher guys want to share your Kickstarter levels and Early Access receipts?

For games that aspire to have better than 8-bit graphics, kickstarter funds are a mere fraction of what is required.

That's not what they said. They said they needed $400K. They got $625K. They should have more than enough to make the game. If they didn't ask for enough to fulfill their commitments I would consider that fraud.

So do you get any kind of alpha/beta access to the regular game, or is this all entirely just Landmark?

It's entirely just Landmark. I dropped a $20 for the Closed Beta. It sounds really interesting, but like Cutter I wish they had not went with the 'stylized' graphics. EQ II graphics are still damn nice for it's age.

Since the game hasn't launched yet, I would say no. Maybe you are thinking of the original EverQuest game? It's been running a long time, but Ultima Online has been running longer.

The first one was not F2P and it was not bad. I picked it up on sale and it was a decent Diablo like romp, but kinda meh as Cutter said.
