With the problems that many pc games remasters and PS5 pc ports have, I am afraid that all guys working on optimization have been fired by many studios a couple of years ago and it is showing.

Band of Brothers is an amazing series. The Pacific was great, too, but definitely a step down from BoB. Friends of mine who loved those series told me that Masters of Air is by far not as great as BoB and TP, though. I have yet to watch the series and hope it will see a disc release.

I just hope that this is not the first step of Amazon Games acquiring GOG (and maybe CD Projekt).

Well, BoP, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks were successfully occupying other countries/cultures for centuries, so they did get thrown out some day but often stayed for a looong time. The British Empire did not last as long as the e.g. the Roman Empire but was also occupying big parts of the world for a long time (as did e.g. France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, and others, too).

In the end, even a decade would be enough to end the world order as we know it. I would rather not have that but IMO there are more and more signs that it is going to happen in the not too far future. And I have yet to find a way to migrate to Mars.

And about the people getting manipulated: it is not just the poor people, it is especially in the western world the uneducated people who don't starve but are easily manipulated because they know nothing about history and politics. The bigger problem than starving people especially in North America and Europe are the uneducated people, BoP. Because they just don't know better than fall for the same tricks that have been used by dictators so often before. People need to know HOW Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and others became the beacon of hope for so many people that they supported those dictators because then they could easily see through the only marginally changed slogans being reused by the new dictators (or wannabes).

That's why I say, the question of balkanization within the United States is a matter of when not if with the current political and justice climate and the growing exclusionary divisiveness within its civilian population.

Which would lead to the US (both fractions) being taken over by China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Brazil who will then fight for supremacy. And it will be the end of the western civilization and its values and ideas. I am not sure I want to live in a world with a dictator watching every single step I take and a Chinese social credit system. Then again, the heavy regulations on media and communication are already hitting everywhere in the western world, too, because of the fake news that certain "interested parties" are spreading and the interest a lot of parties have in control over the "public opinion." Censorship is always a double-edged sword which cuts both way, unfortunately.

It is a sad world we live in. It gets powdered between the grinding stones of too extremely different ideas on politics and society and without communication but instead with the refusal of any compromise this won't end well. Don't they teach kids in the kindergarten anymore to reach out to the guy you just fought with after the fight? The world is dividing into two very loud parties that try to push through their agendas without any compromise and a vast majority between them waiting for the hyperactivists of both sides to come back to their senses.

Say, BoP, do you have some room in your Vault 1? I can get a Vault suit with the correct number on it. Blue and gold/yellow it is, right?

Frankly, "Civil War" just looks completely depressing. I fear how close we are to that reality.

With the right extremists being the biggest fans of guns (only topped by MORE GUNS) and being triggerhappy to "brodect tuh sivill rites", I am afraid that another civil war would not end well for the people with having at least half a working brain... Also, it would mean the end of the western civilization not only in the US. China, Russia, India/Pakistan, would then duke out who would be the new big dawg on the planet.

V Rising, Valheim, Phasmophobia... All of those games got hyped big time for a few weeks after they got released - mostly into early access - and then just more or less vanished somehow. This hype is often based on influencers who maaaybeee get a little something for hyping those, I guess? Of those, I thought that Valheim would have some staying power. I tried V Rising and it just did not click with me. And Valheim... Well, Enshrouded is the better Valheim when it comes to survival games IMO. But to each their own, of course.

Yes, good. At least in my view. I reserve "epic" for genre defining, or re-defining, standards. Like Black Sabbath's Paranoid for example. How many bands/artists used the Iron Man riff or the double tracked, slightly out of phase guitar chorus from Fairies Wear Boots? Tons. That is an epic album.

I am not throwing shade on Body Count, far from it, by the way.

/---\

IMO the first albums of Body Count, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam, and (not their first album) Nirvana's "Nevermind" were as important to the 90s and heavily influencing e.g. NuMetal in the 00s as Sabbath, Purple, and Zeppelin were for the 70s and 80s. They all broke new ground and influenced bands and Metal/Hard Rock huge time.

Elon Musk cancels Don Lemonโ€™s show on X after a โ€˜tenseโ€™ interview

That's kind of standard for clueless rich egotists. They say "I can take it!" and maybe they even believe that they can in their own mind, but in reality they are as delicate as a flower. I've known Don Lemon my whole life. He's not pulling punches for anyone.

Same thoughts here. Musk most likely did not really know what kind of interviewer Lemon is, so he went in "Gimme all you got - I am a genius, you can't touch me!" and went out "Baaah! Muuuuum! Fire him!" Musk, Trump, and all those egomaniacs just do not know their limits and do not understand to thank the people working for them to manage everything beyond their limits.

1991, O.G. Original Gangster -- my introduction to rap (other than Rappers' Delight and Blondie's Rapture). Unfortunately, most rap isn't as good as OG was. Still listen to that album on a semi-regular basis. His shout out at the end of the album, "Ya Shoulda Killed Me Last Year" is awesome.

He was also good in Body Count. The first fusion of metal and rap (real rap) that I can remember on the airwaves.

Good? GOOD?! The first BC album is EPIC! This and Rage Against The Machine's first album were big fat "wake up" slaps into Heavy Metal's face that even Will Smith could not deliver better. Every track of the first BC album was singles material - all killers, no fillers.
I also recommend the Judgment Night soundtrack which has mostly great collaborations of rap and metal groups.

I'm surprised at how many of you haven't figured out that half the reason that the video game industry is in a crash, is because they incentivized forced diversity at the cost of quality.

If only they would... Too often these lobby orgs do what I have already criticized: they do NOT make old IPs diverse by exchanging characters. The goal should be to produce new IPs based on their ideas instead because this would add alternatives and diversify the entertainment landscape. So, "destroying the past to build something new on its bones" is as wrong as an approach as it can be. Instead, leave the past (it already happened and cannot be unchanged unless you got a DeLorean) as it is and create something new. Which is, of course, harder to do and more risky IN THE BEGINNING than using an old brand and change its recipe. But then you could run into the New vs. Classic Coke problem... Man, I am old.

You misunderstood my point. Of course, produce Bond games and movies. With the killing and hearts breaking Bond we all know. But you can also produce No One Lives Forever with Cate Archer. And why not invent more and diverse secret agent characters to base entertainment products on? Of course, produce Indiana Jones games and movies. But you can also produce Tomb Raider games and movies with Lara Croft. And how about inventing new "obtainers of rare antiquities"? This is what I meant. More interesting new characters and games and movies and tv series. Those that will work are going to last and those that do not will get sorted out by the buyers/the market.

No, I understand what you're saying. I'm saying that there's no financial incentive to do that stuff, because any money you spend on "New IP No one has ever heard of" is better spent on rehashing something old. There's no reason to take that risk when you've got a valuable existing IP sitting right there that you can retrofit the script or concept you've got into.

"Do both." Sure, it'd be nice if they did that. But consumer spending has shown them that it's better to focus their efforts on rehashing old stuff. So it's the old IPs that get updated for the times, rather than new ones being created.

Well, ask Disney about that and Iger will tell you that those updated IPs like Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Marvel, and so on can seriously backfire. Currently the big entertainment companies are mostly still refusing to explore uncharted territory with new IPs so they will either go the way of the Dodo or will have to learn that changing working systems is an idiot move and adding new systems is the creative and, in the end, financially successful way instead.

If workers do not want to get shafted by the companies, they have to unionize. United, they can make a stand for themselves and their colleagues. Of course, big business hates unions like the devil hates holy water because it limits their ability to hire and fire at will to pimp up their quarterly numbers.
