What kind of PC do you have Blue? You always seem to have problems with it.

This game's been out for over week and Atari is just getting a press release up?

Yeah, they got confused and thought it was an add-on for the 2600 game Adventure.

If that isn't the biggest joke question I have ever seen. If you guys are not ready to release the game then don't bring anything out to hype the fans till close to the release date...just like VALVe did with HL2.

Well said, Enforcer.

1.12 - Why is DNF taking so long?
While this question constantly comes up from concerned fans, the fact is that the game is not taking as long as it may seem.

Doesn't this sound like a line from The Matrix Reloaded? I wonder if 3DR is taking marketing advice from The Architect. They should have prefaced it with:

"While your first question is the most often asked, it is also the most irrelevant, since we are avoiding hype."

7. Yeah - Whatever Jun 29, 2003, 22:34 Tigger

Blah, blah, blah - I'm almost sick of 3DR not hyping DNF.

<Sarcasm>
I mean it's going to be a great game after all, right? And great games don't need to be hyped - because they are great. And hype might take away from the experience of the finished product. But they don't want to hype it. They just want to work on it. And maybe talk about it, too. But leave the hype out.
</Sarcasm>

5. Morning Doody Count Jun 27, 2003, 11:36 Tigger

Cleaning up after the dog before your first coffee of the day is not a way to get your day off to a great start... I think the next time this comes up I'll just let her out and risk the morning body count to avoid the morning doody count.

Well said! My dogs don't try to hide it anymore, the little one stops at your feet and lets it go right in front of you. Bastard.

11. Metallica Game? Jun 6, 2003, 13:05 Tigger

Who cares? KISS Psycho Circus sucked - that demonstrated that metal bands and video games don't mix well. At all.

Besides, for a band that's paranoid about their music being ripped off - imagine the stress they're going to get when someone starts copying their game!

You might also think of this as an act of desperation...

I think they should simply say:

"It will be out before the end of time."

But maybe even thats streching it.

News Comments > Carmack on Drivers
57. Re: My experience with ATI Jun 3, 2003, 10:16 Tigger

Gee Anthony, I had a Radeon and NEVER had the kind of problems you had. No lockups, no difficulty installing the card or drivers, no problem with games working or not working - nothing. About the only problem I ever had with my Radeon (which led to its replacement) was the poor performance of the drivers. In true ATI style, however, the day I ordered my Geforce3, they came out with the Catalyst Drivers - but there wasn't that much of a gain, so I shelved it in favor of the Geforce3.

What happened to my old Radeon? I put it in a friends machine because their DVD Decoder card wouldn't work with their DVD-ROM. The Radeon worked (and still does) like a champ.

"The 'arcade' boxes look suspiciously like a chair, a monitor, and a keyboard/mouse."

You didn't think they'd try to run CS on a System 22 board do you!? <Giggle>

"Is Namco the only supplier of arcade machines now? "

You'd think so - but I think that they are the only ones still left in the business of running chain arcades except for destination locations like Dave and Busters. Of course, D&B Nyack has a healthy supply of Namco games in addition to some old Sega classics. Even old faithfuls like Ms Pac Man are owned by Namco, which almost makes you wonder if they are going to turn into the Microsoft of the arcades!

As soon as I read "Japanese beta tester" and "arcade", I knew 2 things before I even read the story:

1. Namco was behind it
2. It was a closed beta test taking place in Japan.

Of course, I used to work for Namco a number of years ago...

I imagine that Cyberstations, Time Outs and Space Ports across the US will have this by mid-summer

Lets just outlaw technology, it would be easier!

<CrazyNewLaw>

A person commits a crime if:

a) They attempt to import, export, invent or reinvent a wheel

b) Attempt to create, capture, use, or store electricty

Anyone ever wonder if the politicians have any clue about the stuff they are trying to write laws for?

I guess this might make blocking your telephone number from Caller ID illegal, too!

Major Geeks

It IS hard to believe they don't charge for AVG, huh?

Part of the reason I like it so much is that it's not a resource eating hog.

Of course, part of the reason I moved all my e-mail, Word Processing and 'Net needs to Linux is because viruses are such a pain in the arse.

Blue,

You might try another Anti-Virus product. I've been using Grisofts free Anti-Virus product called AVG Anti-Virus. I've had pretty good success with it so far. It supports most of the features that NAV supports like e-mail scanning, scan on demand, and auto-updating.
