and no amount of clicking that blue empty space next to the word Play Time: seem to make it work...
Maybe thats the point - see how many silly people click and click to get nothing.

Re: Ballmer Translation |

Linux is shaping up to be surprisingly good, and will steal server and desktop market share from us
That’s basically what I said - just in not so many words.
As for Apple, making the Aqua UI a low cost option for *nix systems and pretty soon you will eat windows OS market share on desktops. Still they had a similar opportunity around 1985 and missed it bigtime due to thinking they were a hardware company - you couldn't make the same mistake twice right?
The issue here is connectivity. Microsoft simply has to say, "We're not supporting connections to any other desktop OS because of security reasons.", and Microsoft-only IT shops will nod their heads and say "Yes, master".
At least for right now - there are significant cost and time factors to migrating desktops to another OS just within one building, let alone the whole enterprise. Microsoft knows this – that’s why they've got some pretty aggressive licensing schemes.
In the end (as always), the consumer ends up losing - which really sucks for us.

Ballmer Translation |
Sep 16, 2003, 11:50 |
Tigger |

In his speech, Ballmer addressed a range of other topics, including several Asian countries' efforts to develop a Windows competitor. "I don't think it's likely to prove useful," Ballmer said. "I don't think it's going to wind up being the big competitor we see--even in those markets."
Translation: We're scared. They've got a pretty good product.
He also touched on Apple Computer's position in the marketplace. "Apple is doing some good, innovative work," he said.
Translation: We've got teams of folks working on duplicating it right now.

Steam Sucks |

D/L'ed Steam - as an IT project manager, I try to be a good user and support VALVes initiatives.
Took 2 hours to update my CS. Yeah, that sucked. Although there was a good program on NASA Channel that featured Astronaut Tom Stafford.
In CS - finally - went to bring up the Options menu, nothing happened for 5 minutes (I actually timed it). CS 'not responding' - mad traffic on my router.
Restarted - looked for support. "Steam forums will be back up shortly."
Posted this message on Blues.
Uninstalled Steam.
Glad this isn't my project.

They would have a problem getting the pins out of my safe though
Bah, the specifications for this weapon have been around forever. I imagine it would be a simple matter of getting the specifications for the firing pin and then having one made. Not to mention that the AR15 is quite similar in design to the M16A2 - which prompts one of considering using it's firing pin as a replacement.

The firing pins are out of them, so they're incapable of firing unless you know how to tear them apart and put the pins back in.
The M16A2 is a VERY simply weapon to disassemble. I don't think anyone would have to much trouble putting the firing pin back in.

tron, Tron 2.0 is in stores today I believe so go get it.. good reviews so far as well.
Actually, I saw it in a store on over the weekend.
To answer the obvious questions:
No, it wasn't the pre-order box. It was in an EB. No, I didn't buy it as proof. No, I didn't get a picture. Yes, the clerk looked a little surprised when I mentioned that I thought it wasn't out until August 25th.
