Parts of Westchester county lost power, fortunately I live in Putnam which was relatively unscathed :). A lot of my colleagues that live in and around White Plain however, have taken the day off as some schools are closed and their power is down. For one of them NYSEG is estimating power wont be returned until Friday but TBH they always overestimate how long it takes to fix.
Hope you get your power back soon Blue.

I hope to god this doesn't break the PoE2 mod. If anyone hasn't played this mod it's what BF2 and Euro force should have been.

Blue, I'm not sure which theatre you went to (I'm guessing the Cross County one) but if you want to try further afield I've heard that the multiplex in the center of White Plains , Main Street and Mamaroneck ave, is good because it's so quiet. They built it in the middle of the office district so not many people are there after dark.

If it makes you feel any better Blue, in the four years that I've owned my house I've had to
Replace all the kitchen appliances
Replace the oil furnace/heater
Have my septic tank reseated
Replace both garage doors and door openers
Re-side the house
Replace the deck and front porch
Rewire part of the house
Replace the water pump, the tank and the softener
Now some of these we didn't have to do right away but knew they needed to be done within a couple of years of the original purchase. However, most were needed due to failure.

There are two bugs that they still haven't managed to squish despite many attempts.
-The red player bug whereupon a member of your team appears to be on the enemy side
-The totally annoying bug where your air to air missles will veer off not 10 feet from the enemy plane to hit the fully loaded, friendly Black Hawk half a map away. I've been kicked from a couple of servers because the idiots in the BH then tk punished me for this bug.

Looking at webarchive.org the earliest they have is December 1996 and yes, if it makes you feel any better about feeling old Blue, I was a reader of your site then too.

Wow. Apple bought NeXT. That really brightened my day.
I haven't generally been unhappy developing on NT, but I had been carrying a bit of sadness over several of the things we left behind when we moved from NEXTSTEP.
I wouldn't touch a mac for development right now, but if apple does The Right Thing with NeXT...

Try googling "rally-masters.wmv" to get the video file in better resolution without the planetvids.com watermark. It's an old film that's been floating about since fall last year.

Price gouging is already going on in the US. I filled up the car at a local gas station this morning at $2.80 a gallon (yes I know that's cheap compared to our European cousins), this afternoon I walked past a gas station where one of their employees was changing the price on the sign to $3.49 a gallon. That's almost a 25% price hike in one morning!

I unlocked the L85A1 (the medic rifle) - I love the darn thing and nearly always play as a medic now. It's super accurate in single shot scoped and has enough ammo and slow enough rate of fire in full auto to also be a good spray and pray gun.
