Uncomfortable with the content perhaps? |

It's a good thing that he realized his being there and feeling that way may have harmed the game, quite a noble thing to do since he was making $400k per year. I could also understand if he felt a little uncomfortable with some of the content going into Doom, since he's Christian and all. Although Doom is kind of a pro-christian game, what with all the Daemon killing.

It's that time again. Guess this means i'll need to re-install Q2 to check out all the funky stuff ppl do with the engine.
To the CS kiddies: Get a clue, this release won't make anything easier/harder for cheaters, if they implement anything into Q2's netcode, it can't be ported to Half-Life, since Half-Life's source isn't available. The only thing it could allow is a better understanding of Q2's cheat protection system, which Half-Life doesn't even use, it has its own.

"Doesn't seem like it can do outdoor levels all that well (low visibility with snow-covered ground in the movie)"
Yeah, at the moment it isn't that great for big outdoor areas, but Cauldron are planning to merge CloakNT with their other engine (forget what it's called), that does bigass open areas, although that won't be seen until after Chaser. Still, definitely a graphics engine to be reckoned with.

They can't use the old score |

#4 & #5, The original score for the footage was from Aliens, and FOX got all pissed off at Activision and told them to get rid of it. It was never going to be in the actual game.

Reguardless of which game is more popular, both movies will still suck. That is a fact, although i would love, just once, to be proven wrong.
On a completely unrelated note, why are the posts in the wrong order? I made that other post after Deathbots' post.

Is there anyone that actually takes Hollywood seriously? I'm surprised Solitaire still hasn't been made into a movie. I mean c'mon, that game is HUGE, damn near everyone has a copy, a movie of it would make BILLIONS at the box-office.

ATi vs NVidia = AMD vs Intel ? |
Oct 2, 2001, 05:14 |
ReverendRyan |
|

ATi is gonna have to pull some AMD style moves on nVidia if they want to stay in competition. Just look at the Radeon 7500: its the same price as the GF3Ti200, which stomps all over the R7500 (obviously this was nVidia's intention). The R8500 sounds, from early benchmarks, like it may well outperform the Ti500 (although we still haven't seen any WinXP benchmarks for any of nVidia's cards running on the DetXP drivers), and at a lower price, but nVidia has already saturated the graphics market from low-end to high end, and has become just like Intel to the average consumer, so it'll take some work, as well as price slashing, to keep ATi from becoming another 3DFX, especially with the PC market the way it is now.

On AMD |

Geez, 15% of their workforce, this ain't good. Obviously the PC market slowdown is having noticable effects on Intel as well, since it's looking like all they'd need to do is bring in further price drops to put AMD out of the running.
The only good thing i could see coming out of the hard times the industry is going through would be the possible emergence of other, smaller, competitors, but there hasn't been any sign of that happening just yet.

LOL. I love it when everyone's talking out their arses before a developer comes on speaking sense and shuts everyone up. U2 is looking sweet, definitely looking forward to getting my grubby little paws on that. i'm sure it wont make me "forget about Doom 3 and Quake 4" (which will be a very popular term used by PR guys over the next couple of years), but those are a different story altogether, like comparing an apple with an orange.

"Valve Software ... did not believe it to be a serious threat."
Of course they're going to say that. They have the biggest multiplayer game in history, they wouldn't say anything that might jeopardize that status, no matter how the exploit can be used.

True, but what does any non-gamer know about DoD? Wolf will prolly be one of the biggest selling action games of the year based on it's name alone, not to mention how well it's been marketed, which means nay-sayers will probably pick it apart like vultures would a corpse in the desert... or something to that effect .

I can only imagine the controversy RtCW will cause among the mainstream media and parents-against-gaming groups if you are able to play as a nazi in multiplayer. When Nerve announced that you could play for either the allie team or the axis team, i thought they might only be including other forces that formed the axis, leaving out the nazis, but judging from the new screens, that's not the case.

A phat PC w/ TV tuner, whatever GeForce/Radeon, Vid-in, SPLive!5.1, good speakers, and console of your choice gives you the exact same thing, with much more flexability/visual quality, and from the specs stated in this utter load, it probably wouldn't cost you much more either.
As hilarious as the extremely obviously made up quotes from imaginary microsoft employees were, I still can't believe it took two people to write this garbage. My ass could write a better article.

As fun as i am quite sure this game will be, games with monthly fees just aren't my cup of tea.
Perhaps if Blizzard released a complete game, minus the constant pocket dunking i find so lame, with a couple of retail addons over the following years, then World of WarCraft would be music to my ears.
...or something.

Doom |

The Doom pack looks a lot like the Depths of Doom Trilogy, although it didn't contain Final Doom (which this one may or may not either), and had the master&maximum levels.
I'm guessing id are doing all these re-releases to take advantage of the new DVD size boxes in case stores w/ small gaming sections start getting rid of the old-chunkies. Can't see any other reason since all their games are still available at retail.
