OHHHhhhhhh.... I must have played the free version. I dug a few holes and then wondered, "WTF is this shit and why is it so popular?" I knew it was supposed to have crafting and fighting, but didn't see any. That's probably why.
Still don't think I'll be buying it though. Not really my type of sandbox. |

| I downloaded the patch here at work, but my work machine sucks and has to play this via the cloth map mode. Think I'll try it on my home machine. The beta showed signs of improvement, but was still buggy. Hoping they fixed it (there's been about 3 or 4 patches in the beta since I tried it last). |

Every sale they have on this game, I check the price. I've been wanting it since it came out. I've been tempted a few times, especially when it hit $20. But my connection just plain sucks from time to time. It wouldn't be a big deal if it were only Settlers having an issue. I could play other games. But I don't want to encourage this shitty DRM, because eventually more games will have it and then no, I won't be able to play other games.
Also, not on Facebook. Twitter sucks. Google street view? Uh.. we're not talking about privacy. We're talking about a persistent internet connection. |

I only played the Worgen and Goblin start areas in beta. They were really fun, especially goblins. I don't think I've laughed so much at a game. A friend of mine redid all the 1-60 content last week. He said it flows better, it's easier to get around (there's like triple the flight paths), and the quests are much much better. Plus it's all phased. I'm actually looking forward to leveling up at least one or two more characters so I can see the changes.
Some of the more notable (alliance perspective):
Lights Hope Chapel has a huge wall around it now.
Similar in Westfall.
Stormwind is awesome looking.
There's actual flood damage in Westfall from the dam being destroyed.
EPL has green plants! WPL too.
I've been doing archaeology all day and so I've seen a lot of the eastern kingdom changes and it's just amazing how much they've done.

| Glad to see this is still getting updates. They really need to redo the UI though. I recall getting annoyed with the movement controls after I tried it last (and I did play it at launch for a year or so). |

I got my key on Friday, so no big deal to me. Seems odd that they didn't just rush someone in over the weekend (they knew the sale was coming and would be on call, I'd hope) to spit out a few hundred/thousand more keys. But, I don't know how their system works, so whatever. Sucks for the people who didn't get a key.
As for the game itself, is playing a mage worth it? The one gameplay video I saw for a fire mage looks like they just replaced an arrow with a yellow dot and called it a fireball. I tend to play spell casters for the particle effects, so was a bit let down with the video. |

| Apparently they emailed everyone and their dog a beta key. I think I got three, and a friend of mine who doesn't even know who Funcom is got one. I kinda wonder if they bought an email list or something. |

Publishers are hesitant, but retail must put pressure on them.
As they should be. I don't buy games if they aren't on Steam (and to some extent Impulse). The only B&M games I buy are collector edition Blizzard games. Retail stores can fuck off. |

As Beamer said, it's in setting only. The game is nothing like Stalker IMO. I didn't like Stalker at all. Way too open and sandbox. Metro is the complete opposite. It's a good story on rails. You'll go where it wants you to go, and no turning back. But they deliver it very well. There are a few humorous parts too.
I put Fallout down for this one (plan on returning to New Vegas after I finish). I think I'm around 8 or 9 hours in, so I'm not sure how close I am to the end. |
