| It seems the people who are running it without the horrible pop-in are actually having fun. I watched the video of the ATI card with the pop-in. I can see why they'd be pissed. That was horrible. Hopefully it gets patched because the gameplay itself is great. |

| One thing I forgot to mention, most of the people here on Blues would probably want to play this bumped up a notch on difficulty. I'm on normal, and it's just very easy. I've only take enough damage to turn the screen red once, and that was when I got hit with a grenade. |

Verno wrote on Oct 4, 2011, 09:24: So what's the verdict on this? Worth taking a break from Dark Souls to play or wait awhile for patches? From people who have played it only please. I enjoyed the hell out of it. DS is on my list, but will most likely be a week or two now depending on how fast I get through Rage (supposedly not too terribly long of a game, but we'll see).
As for some of the complaints, yeah, the FOV does suck. I'm going to try the cvar thing later. I had a massive headache when I finished playing. The mouse acceleration was noticeable at first, but I got used to it. One thing that was bugging me was that the menus (your inventory stuff) seemed to go faster than the game. It was a bit annoying to bring up the weapon selection shit and have the mouse moving twice as fast.
But damn it looks good to me aside from the pop-in on the edges of the screen. And the wingstick is damn fun. |

Having a lot of fun so far. Only played a bit over an hour, though. Just some quick thoughts before I go to bed:
Graphics Graphics are awesome. Looks amazing (I'm on a GTX470). One issue is that I'm seeing pop-in on the side of the screen as I turn quickly. This isn't too bad once you go in to a small area, but if you're out on the road or in the main world area, it's very noticeable.
Weapons Wingstick best stick. I fucking love that thing. It's so awesome decapitating shit with it. Sometimes it returns if you're not hiding behind something, otherwise it breaks and you have to buy more (you buy 5 at a time).
I'm still using the starter weapons, but the combat shotgun feels great. The assault rifle feels good too. I hope to get a sniper rifle soon because this game just screams for it.
NPC/AI This is what I really love. You shoot an NPC and if he doesn't die, he falls over and tries to crawl away. You can shoot the helmet off NPCs. They'll stick their weapon around a corner and fire blindly. They toss grenades if you're in a hallway.
Didn't see any flanking, but there's not much opportunity for that that I can see. The missions I've done are all linear. You're basically just clearing areas out.
Oh, and if you kill an NPC from stealth and another one is nearby, the other one will notice his buddy just fell over with no head. Maybe it's a coincidence. Dunno yet.
Gameplay Enjoying the hell out of it so far. The quests are basically to go kill shit or collect shit. But I'm also only an hour in to the game. Just seeing the NPCs try to get away after I shoot them is entertaining enough. I also like that there's a lock picking mechanism. That is, you have to build components to break locks (looks cool, too). Adds at least a reason to craft shit.
Other thoughts I've encountered a couple of invisible walls. There was a walkway that ended near a ledge. I was unable to jump over it or move past it.
I've encountered what I would call a secret area, but only 1 so far. Had to blow a hole in the wall and then back track to get to it. Had some crystal in it. No idea what it does, but probably a crafting component.
Quick-Save isn't too terribly quick. I think I'm spoiled with ME2 and DX:HR quick save. Those were instant. This one is about 5 seconds. Certainly not bad, and honestly, it will prevent me from quick-saving every five seconds like I do in the other two games. Rounding a corner? Quick save. Opening a door? Quick save. I won't do that here. That's probably a good thing.
Overall Loving it. Great atmosphere. Great weapons. Great NPC deaths. |

That's some strong stuff you're smoking. |

| Their servers must be borked or something. Been too busy for 15 hours now. It acts like it's not even checking (tells me it's too busy immediately after pressing the button, no delay at all). Lots of other people having the same problem. |

I hate 3D at the movie theater. It's a lame way for the theater to milk me for another $3 per ticket, and the movie usually looks like shit anyway.
In other news, I just bought the 3D Vision kit for my PC. Hopefully that part isn't a gimmick. |

FF13 was the first FF I actually bought (I've played a few of the older versions with emulators). It was a good movie. I don't recall there being a game though, just a movie where you walk around to make the next part of the movie come up. Like a Choose Your Own Adventure, only there was only one adventure and you didn't choose anything.
Yeah, FF13 sucked. |

This will probably get me to play again sometime early next year. However, I'd rather see either some DLC or an expansion for after the main part of the game. The only reason I didn't play a lot of that DLC was that it was out after I finished the game or had passed whatever act it was in.
Dark mode looks interesting, but not enough to make me replay quite so soon. |

| I hope this isn't another Oblivion. Lots and lots of attention and hype about Patrick Stewart being in the game.. and then have him only there for five minutes, if that. |
