I enjoyed DOTA2. Biggest issue I have with it is that I don't have enough time to play. The game requires at least an hour of my time with no interruptions, something that is rare. Still fun though. I've only played maybe a dozen matches and was lucky enough not to get a bunch of shit for sucking.

As for LoL, I signed up but never played. I guess I'm counted in that 70 million.

The story instance things were new. At least how they worked. Dunno if the dialogs offered much in the way of choice. TOR sucked, but I did enjoy the personal storyline.

I was eying this game a few weeks ago (before the plethora of new games came out) and it looked interesting. Anyone have any thoughts on it? It looks a bit like Eufloria, which I loved.

Tried that before WoW. DAoC had no quests. AC had no quests. Dunno about EQ (I played AC). Grinding bunnies until you level up to foxes until you level up to zombies SUCKED. Quests were new in WoW when it came out. Other games had them, but not nearly as many and not with the sole purpose of leveling up. Go back to grinding mobs? No thanks.

So without the grind, what? Skyrim has you doing quests, so Skyrim is a bad example in your opinion. What other game would you model your MMO after? Dark Souls? I'm pretty sure I was grinding a shit ton of mobs in that game. What if we just replace all quests in your MMO with "Kill X mobs" quests and just not give you a quest log. That'd be the same, wouldn't it?

A lot of WoW quests are still the boring kill X quests. But they break that up from time to time with unique quests. For example, sniping Hozen so your Dwarf buddy can infiltrate an enemy camp. You just don't see those types of quests in other MMOs. Dynamic events are still "go here and kill X, escort Y, or harvest Z."

I still love GW2 though. WoW cities have nothing on Divinity's Reach.

I know people will bitch, but Mists is awesome. They did an outstanding job on quest and zone design, and the monk class is a lot of fun. Most of my guild has returned and we're hoping to start raiding soon.

I liked this idea in theory, but hated the implementation of it. The happiness thing (I think it was) didn't work out very well IMO. My guys were always pissed. I understand building the special buildings to improve that, but I never really bothered. I didn't get that really figured out until just before I quit playing due to some other big game coming out. Took a lot of forum reading to make any sense of various parts of the game.

Still, I was very addicted for several hours.

Not to defend it (the game did have a lot of issues), but buildings actually dropped as loot. You could build your own, but they were crazy expensive. If you didn't take the time to figure out the map system, and I can't blame you for not doing so, then you'd miss a lot of special loot. The map system was interesting once I figured it out, but it was still a huge mess and very unfriendly to use.

I put about 6 hours in to the game, which was enough to build a few things, get some specialists, and upgrade some spells. It was really repetitive, the mobs made no sense to me (you're fighting a weird energy ball thing?), and I couldn't really see the point (push back the wind, I guess).

I'll look at #2, but I really hope it's cleaned up a fair amount.

Dunno how it worked in beta, but there's still some building in release (or there was a month ago). It's more like, "Build a wind farm so you can go over here" .. "Build a farm so you can get more people" .. I never really used it much because it felt a bit tacked on. I like the concept though.

I'd like to see some sidekicking.. unless it already has it. Bring the gun damage down/up to the damage range of your buddy. All my friends are about 10 - 15 levels higher than me at this point.

Nor should it be over in a couple of hours. I enjoyed FTL, but it had flaws. I hated the pursuing rebels (although there is a mod to remove that). I can understand they didn't want you to get too strong, but it just feels like a lame mechanic. I also ended my first game at the final boss with my shit starter weapons. I thought, "This is the end?" .. and it was.

It was worth the $10 price, though. Fun for a short period of time. Just no desire to return to it though.

This game has a massive meta-game on top of it, so I can't see them patching out the online requirement. You basically get votes depending on what you do in the game. The votes help guide the overall game somehow. I never made it far enough to get in to that, though.

The game itself is very similar to Dawn of Discovery. Kind of similar to Settlers. It's a resource management game, spread out over islands. So you have to set up shipping routes for goods. Personally I didn't care much for the game, but I just get bored with that type of gameplay. It was a pretty game though. Worth $25 (with 50% coupon)? Not to me. Just couldn't hold my interest.

I don't care much for the inventory interface. Seems like a chore to compare items (click weapon, push 'e', mouse over other weapons, repeat for everything). They also could have expanded it to 2 or 3 columns wide instead of one long column that requires scrolling.

Game itself is fun, though. It's weird going from uber-powerful character in Borderlands 1, someone with huge shield, recharging health, unlimited ammo.. to this new char with none of that.

Also, Claptrap is awesome.

It's been a while since I played the game, but they didn't really do much with the ghosts outside of that one tunnel, did they? I think that was probably my favorite segment of the game. My memory is a bit fuzzy. Did they explain that in more detail somewhere in the game or was it just the initial time when you met the guy who guided you through?


I need to replay 2033 it seems. Great game.

Castle lord, bodyguards, and capture point for Stonemist Castle moved to the first floor.

Odd change. I wonder why they moved the Lord. I rather enjoyed having to fight up to the second floor. Defending was also a lot of fun due to the ramps.
