News Comments > Steam Launches Paid Mod Support
89. Re: Steam Launches Paid Mod Support Apr 23, 2015, 22:19 Grokk

A lot of people are going to get sued for a lot of bullshit over this.

Also, the 24hr refund policy doesn't actually work with the Australian law, so it should be interesting to see how that pans out over time.

On top of that, is a refund really a refund, or does it get converted into steam credit?

I'm sure there's a whole lot of legal jargon typed up somewhere that explains all of this and effectively allows Valve/Bethesda to avoid any kind of wrongdoing.

Could be an interesting few days, as the venting rage starts to dissipate and the really interesting thoughts/ideas around this begin to unfold and gain momentum.

Asking non-rhetorically, how much damage could you do? I assume the car doesn't start shooting rockets or activate jump capability. Is it a matter of cars suddenly not working in the middle of the highway? What kind of malfunctions can you incur that wouldn't have happened with a non-computerized car?

Acceleration and braking would be the main two I think. Both are somewhat controlled digitally now, rather than using actual mechanical linkages.

Thanks to whoever submitted the GMG code. That put GTA V at a price point that matched my buying point. Cheers!

Damn you! whomever submitted the GMG code. I too am now an owner of GTA-V PC.

The legality of this shouldn't even be a question.
This is the epitome of a victimless crime, and therefore should not be considered a crime at all.

I really wish I could justify getting this for PC. I have it on PS3 and PS4 already.

I just don't think it will hold my interest long enough for online to play out.
I love the single player game, but multiplayer has always been a bit iffy at best in my opinion.

It should also be noted that Obsidian is now facing a backlash from the same perpetually offended people because the replacement texts lightly pokes fun at how stupid this controversy was to begin with. They're called the perpetually offended for a reason. These people are not their customers, they should be at worst, ignoring them, at best, telling them to take their self-righteous outrage somewhere else.

You have every right to be angry about a joke you deem offensive. You have every right to say why. That's as far as it goes. You don't get to demand anyone change it because of your feelings. You're not that important.

Might be just me, but it seems there's a larger percentage of the Gen-Y/Z that believe they are that important.

A lot has been lost in the last 30 odd years, when it comes to the humbleness of our offspring.
Values have shifted. Technology has allowed it to spread at an amazing rate.

I hope it's only a phase in the greater global society, and that it will change back a little with the next generation or two.

Aah... "The Anarchist Cookbook".

I remember downloading that back around '93 I think. Was a reasonably interesting read at the time, but probably a little dated now, since the original was from the early 70's.

I'm half kinda waiting for the rift or another similar VR device to go retail before picking this up.

Was hoping for the full VR package on this one.

This was one of the kickstarters I wish I'd backed but didn't.

It's always been a more or less guaranteed buy assuming even mediocre reviews, but you guys have pretty much sold me on it.

I wanted to wait, since I've spent a fortune on games lately and only played them for a few hours a piece. (It's a seriously bad habit doing that.)

Didn't we have foldable phones like a decade or more ago?

I mean... they didn't bend right in the middle of the screen like the advanced apple tech of today, but otherwise they were folded up to fit nicely into your pocket.

Just picked this up last night. Brilliant game, which had me getting to bed just after 0400.

I'm madly impressed that they've built this on the Unity engine as well. I've worked with Unity a bit, but this is well beyond what I thought it was capable of. Both in performance and how they've fit it to the genre.

This game was so epic back in 1993 I couldn't believe you could set trees on fire during a gun fight lol was mind blowing back then.

Absolutely epic indeed.

The depth of the game for the time was amazing, and once you eventually got up to miniguns it was an absolute blast.
For the style of the game, I didn't play anything that even came close for years.

I'm afraid I won't be playing this however. With the original running at what? max 640/480 or thereabouts? my eyes would bleed spinning it up on a 2560/1440 monitor.
The game would need some serious reworking for my tastes.
