the game uses per pixel lighting Exactly my point.
it might be better playing doom 3 with 800 x 600 with AA and getting 40 fps then 1024 x 768 and getting 20. Der.

Which were kind of similar to the 16bit vs 32 bit argument which is even older. Oh man, remember that shit?! LOL. I can actually recall looking at way-zoomed-in pics of Kingpin! Was I ever that young.

This remark would have had so much its place in year 2k, Elvis. Wha? Me no understand you! To my eyes, Doom3 at 10x7 with no AA looks betta than 8x6 with AA (4x or otherwise). AF has more of an impact on D3 visuals over AA as well.

Looked and looked; am I missing it?
Anyways, AA doesn't make much of a difference in Doom3; upping the resolution does.
Nibs makes a good point - is this only for the new cards? Seems like it. I have an X850 too. Sigh, it's "old" now.

Weird move - is this really going to sell more copies? Maybe he has a tie-in with them for a "Fog" game.

Source engine: Vampire: Bloodlines, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (not sure if it was licensed before or after HL2 was released). Forgot Sin 2. We wont count the 12 dollar Yak Fu thing coming in October. So, that's a whopping three we know of. Valve almost seems more interested in community mod-makers having their way with Source. A good thing for sure, but certainly not the money maker core licensing is.

must be the new king of game tech licensing. Their home page lists one licensee after another for UE3. all the while sweeney is locked away, working on unreal engine 4.

Thx for staying up late. A Steam update is supposedly coming this evening as well. Maybe. You know how it is.
edit: nothing too surprising on the BIA3/UE3 deal. now, where's that steam update?

What is this? |

Catalyst™ 5.9 introduces directional motion adaptive deinterlacing algorithm through the 3D shader. The algorithm will detect edges in 5 different directions. This reduces artifacts, and improves the overall detinterlace video quality.
Anyways, there's a Steam update coming today with "engine updates". Interesting timing on the drivers, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

Check out the site. They're doing a total conversion/port of Rune to the Unreal II engine. Thanks for the tip. Maybe now they'll be a game worth playing using the Unreal 2 engine.

There was a small update that included "Improved download speeds when downloading large updates"
Valve, such a tease! Some think Lost Coast could be coming today or over the weekend.

Evidently they want to force everyone to use XP, since this demo won't even install unless you have it. What crap. Why not run WinXP? And what are you running instead? Besides the expense, there's always dual booting.

I'm not even an RTS guy and I need to try this bad boy out. You and me both. I'm not sure what drew me in, probably the ability to muck around in the awesome looking world.

3 months in Valve time /= 3 months in real time... I chuckled when I saw the new content every three months comments too - still, I say Lost Coast is here in 2 weeks or less.
