Very cool. I'm a huge fan of bringing accessibility to gaming, although I myself have no disabilities. Kudos to Valve.

Xbox360 Controller for Windows

Uh yeah, because everyone knows that a console controller is much easier to use and more accurate than a keyboard and mouse. Nice try, Microsoft.

Mark my words, there will be no Episode 3. I predict Valve will surprise everybody by revealing Half-Life 3 instead.

No official 64-bit support? Boo. And with Windows 7 coming out, I'm thinking not many people will still be running 2000/XP, let alone 32-bit.

It's nice to see them take the Mechwarrior franchise into the real-time strategy realm. Hey, wait a minute...

I'm inclined to agree with him on some level. There are a ton of games out there, but I think the majority are most lacking in narrative. There are so many games that come out that all look the same to me because their subject matter just all blends together to create a drab mosaic.

GoG already has a DRM-free Arx Fatalis, and for a sweet $5.99.

The game did absolutely nothing for me. Kind of pretty, but that's the most I can say for it.

Heh. I have to laugh at all the pretty little stupids who think games based on this war is a good idea.

The Memory Ring - An in-game item that allows your character to accumulate experience points at an accelerated rate and therefore level up more efficiently.

So it will make the game unnecessarily easier than it's designed to be? Sounds like fun.

Fallout Online will definitely not see the light of day before the end of this year, or next. But yeah, it will suck balls regardless.

11. Re: In praise of the three hour game Mar 27, 2009, 08:54 Riker

I'm happy for the Wired writer who enjoys short games, but I don't. There's a market for those people, and there's a market for my people. Deus Ex, System Shock 2, or Half-Life 2 as 3-hour games? I don't think so.

Fallout 3 did a reasonably good job in offering a great deal of game play, but people with short attention spans were welcome to only follow the main story line, which ties up relatively quickly. I think that's probably the best way to go; offer different types of experiences for different types of people.

News Comments > Deus Ex 3 More Like DX1
6. Re: Deus Ex 3 More Like DX1 Mar 26, 2009, 17:58 Riker

This is coming from the people who said they never "got into" DX1 and didn't realize "why it was loved" and thought that it was slow and paced poorly.

I had not heard that before, but if true, that's pretty damning. Can you provide a link?

Gah! FileFront was always my go-to site for downloading patches and sometimes addons/mods... fast speeds, no queues, very consistent. Now where do I go? Fileplanet? I don't frigging think so.

Wasn't Perry spouting off about PC gaming being dead not that long ago?

How do you play them without the controls?
I'm just guessing, but most likely using the angle of the phone to move, and probably an on-screen button to fire. I hate playing games on the iPhone.

They're not entitled to further profit, and this idea is insanely horrible. Let's see how many people sign up for it.

And while I love Steam, this is one reason why I don't buy games via Steam anymore.

Did well enough for CoD4, despite what some people here may want to argue.
There's nothing to argue, because you're wrong. Why in the world would you think CoD4 used the Quake 3 engine? CoD4 used a completely proprietary engine.
