Re: Wonderfull game |

I don't know - how is that going to help me install the game? It seems like I'd have to have something on the hard drive to have any download take effect. The problem isn't that the game won't play, it's that I can't even install it. The whole system freezes up as soon as I get to the install screen.
I'm just going to try and run an IDE cable from another CD into the system and see if it'll work then...

I was just getting a jones for FS2 again; I played the excellent Game of the Year edition shortly after it came out on my old Dell P2 400. Stunning game, wonderful enhancements over the original (which was a classic itself), especially the flak cannons. I had many a fine afternoon making strafe runs, diving through flak fields, skirting along the surface of a ten-kilometer-long Shivan warship, and then blasting away when I was out of the flak field. I was actually about to install it here on my 1.1 ghz system, but too bad SAFEDISC DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MY CDR DRIVE AND LOCKS MY SYSTEM UP WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD that pisses me off. Now I have to set up my Dell back up in here, trace the IDE cable over, install the game, crack it, and hope I never have to format this disc or upgrade the OS. Thanks Safedisc! Your program doesn't work!
But seriously, this is one of the best space sims ever made, and I hope this B5 thing is good. I'll try it out as soon as I get a new joystick.

I'll have to decline, as I once ate about a pound of Twizzlers in one sitting and subsequently threw up. To this day, even their smell triggers my gag reflex. I also once ate too many Flintstone vitamens and threw up...those things tasted way too good to be good for you.

Well, nevermind again; it was only two pages long and didn't have any benchmarks, which makes it kind of useless as a video card review. Here's the entire paragraph dedicated to performance issues.
"Performance you can expect. The cards are not finished versions and the drivers need a little attention. This is the performance you can expect when compared to Nvidia cards using the latest Detonator 4 drivers that give a lot of performance increase to Nvidia GeForce cards. The performance for the 8500 is aprox mid-way between the GeForce3 and GeForce2 Pro, while the 7500 is a little more than the GeForce2 Pro for Serious Sam. For Quake III Arena the 7500 drops below the GeForce2 Pro. Taking a look at Unreal Tournament both Radeon cards are now seriously falling behind GeForce3 and GeForce2 Pro, even being beaten by Kyro II."
How bout some numbers?

It's supposed to be out in what, two weeks, and we have no full reviews yet, and only one set of benchmarks from a German site? Does this worry anyone? Or am I just missing a ton of articles...

Screenshots...the pain...must...look...at Haegemonia screenshots...again...ah, that's better. Man, I don't know what the deal is, but the models, the trees, all that green! I'm curious as to whether this is representative of how the game really looks. I can understand a forest being green, and maybe a swamp, but a road in the middle of a city? I guess maybe these are just some poorly-taken screenshots...

An endorsement from Blue? Mr. Laconic? This must really be earth-shattering. Mirrors? I'm sure they're going to be flooded soon...

I was going to make fun of this game for the cornball storyline, but then I saw the screenshots. *Good god man*. This game looks pretty incredible. Can't wait to see it in motion.

Haha, just noticed that was bungie.org as opposed to bungie.com. Me be smart one day! But then why are they so sure of themselves?
I guess it really doesn't matter, the concentrations of Xbox's at my local EB will undoubtably cause a gravitational field that sucks me into the store against my will, forcing me to buy one. If I get a job...

And then I looked at the top of that page:
When will Halo be released? Halo's release date is planned to coincide with that of the X-box, on November 8, 2001, as Halo is a major launch title for that console. The Mac/PC version will follow some months afterwards, in 2002.
So a PC version of Halo would seem to be a sure thing, unless Microsoft gets wind of this and the FAQ suddenly changes tomorrow.

"What platforms will Halo be available on? Halo will be available on the X-box, Macintosh, and Windows."
Is this new info, or is this old stuff? If it's new, it's certainly a change from the previous ambiguity of whether it would appear on PC's or not.

That FFXI footage looks terrible...hopefully Square can put out some direct-feed footage in a non-QT format sometime.

And then I just saw this:
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/whispers/whisphome.htm
"Labor unions and independent groups aligned with the antiwar effort sparked by President Bush's retaliation campaign against Osama bin Laden will come under attack this week in the House as lawmakers seek to cut off their federal grants. GOP sources tell Whispers that an amendment to block grants to the groups will be offered to the appropriation bill for the Labor and Health and Human Services departments up for consideration as early as Thursday. A new analysis of federal grants to groups involved in the antiwar effort identifies unions including the United Auto Workers, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and the Service Employees International Union. The Heritage Foundation analysis from census documents also found grants to independent groups that have blasted Bush's war. "Should tax dollars be going to groups that protest the war? I don't think so," says an architect of the plan to end the grants."
Absolutely incredible...immediately reminded me of this:
http://www.theonion.com/onion3736/freedoms_curtailed.html
""Now is not the time for such divisive, destructive things as dialogue and debate," McCain said. "Now is not the time for, 'My opinion is just as valid as yours,' and 'What are my country's leaders doing and why?' and 'I have a question, Mr. President.' Now is the time for one thing and one thing only: The defense of the American democratic ideal. Any and all who disagree with this directive, or who have different ideas about how it should be accomplished, should learn to shut their mouths.""
