Hmm, don't see anything I'm too interested in on this sale. I am eyeing AoE3:CE though.. always enjoyed the old AoE games. If they had Deadlight for 50% off I might have gotten it.

Don't forget you'll need to pile on Games for windows LIVE to play it.

Looks fine to me, they only let you run depth of field on low but at least they didn't crank bloom to 9000.

They also don't smear your screen with strawberry jelly when you get hit.

Considering Syndicate at 6 bucks on Friday morning.

Anybody already have it? I know it was underwhelming..but is it 6 bucks worthy?

You'll probably get six bucks worth of entertainment out of it but it has really nasty bloom, limited FOV, requires Origin - some people get their skirt in a ruffle over it.

News Comments > Nuketown 2025 Black Ops II Map Returns
9. Re: Nuketown 2025 Black Ops II Map Returns Nov 20, 2012, 14:56 DangerDog

Nuketown in Blackops was ruined on the PC by the people running the servers cranking the number of players to 18 for a map designed for 8 or less.

But let's recap, they offered NT 2025 as a pre-order bonus map. From release they allowed you to play it using it's very own mini playlist in a "moshpit" mode - no way to just pick 24/7 NT 2025 team deathmatch, you joined a random game mode running on NT 2025 and only NT 2025.

It wasn't that hard to wait for the map to cycle to a game mode you wanted to play on it or leave the server and rejoin to get into another server.

Nobody complained about the "moshpit" random game mode, if you wanted to play the other maps you could avoid NT 2025 altogether.

Then a week after the game has been released they removed it from the playlist and claimed it was only for special events like double xp weekends.

COD players revolted, treyarch acted all stupid "derp it wasn't our decision, don't kill the messenger derp", turned it into some sort of twitter attention whore contest - retweet some lame hashtag crap a billion times and maybe we'll bring it back.

Now they claim they've reinstated it because of the furor they created, but now you'll need to cycle through all the other maps - with random game modes - to maybe get a chance to play NT 2025.

The "maybe" part comes into play because if one person on the server doesn't have NT 2025 it won't come up on the play list. This is part of their, nobody will ever get kicked from a lobby policy.

They created the monster with their size 9 shoebox sized map, lured people into pre-ordering the game to get their crack-map fix and now want to kill it off.

It's like they're going out of their way to make people hate them.

Good Game Treyarch - Douchebag achievement, unlocked.

oh you can still play the map, with friends, pvp hosted and no xp.

I die so damn fast in regular matches I don't even see a need for hardcore in this game, but yes hardcore game list is lacking.

looks like the backlash may turn this around, nuketown is a perfect match for call of duty though. you get in and just start killing, mindless entertainment.

Not sure the anger/surprise. They didn't take the map away from anyone, they just took it off public matchmaking rotation.

Which makes sense - only people that preordered have this map. There's no solution possible without fractioning the community far too much (as right now you can bet about 75%+ of players have that map.)

I'd guess it'll be included in the first map pack. Then there can be separate public matchmaking for people that buy that pack without splintering the community too much.

It's somewhat a sign of it being dumb to offer a multiplayer map as a preorder, but it isn't like they're rendering its value zilch.

No it was never in regular map rotation - you could only play it if you had pre-ordered, there was an extra menu option Nuketown 2025 and then you picked "moshpit". You joined a server running only Nuketown with a random game mode, after each match you could vote select from a different game mode, vote to redo the one you just played or a random game mode.

It was fine the way it was, don't like Nuketown then ignore it if you want and just play the regular map rotation from "core" - totally separate option.

They probably thought pulling the map would be cute or funny, call of duty community goes into meltdown over not being able to play Nuketown.

https://twitter.com/Treyarch/status/270769902665748480

Just launched a new fast-action playlist in the Bonus category called Chaos Moshpit. Back by popular demand: Nuketown 2025!

I don't see this option on the PC version.

edit: it's coming tomorrow to the PC apparently.

Speaking of Far Cry 3, waiting to see how bad of a console port that it is, already discovered that there won't be any dedicated servers for multiplayer, just P2P with host migration.

Sure it's mostly a single player game but they didn't have to go full retard on multiplayer. Then again it is Ubisoft.

And he too will be back in line purchasing it again next year.

You've got to love these people that rage on about never buying from X game company EVER AGAIN! and then turn around and buy the next one.

See you in Modern Warfare 4 and Battlefield 4

Still, they had to shell out for the developers to port those games to the PC, seemed like they hit the bargain bin a week or two after release.

GTA IV was the only game that gave any relevance to Games for Windows LIVE, hopefully if they do port it to the PC it's a Steamworks title.

Lame attempt at trying to sell more copies on consoles?

Seems like making a PC version would assist them in releasing an updated version for the next gen consoles - but maybe they'll hang that one over everyone's heads too.

Maybe they're just butt hurt over PC gamers largely ignoring the last two games they graced the PC with.

I don't get what all the hoopla is about, I only look at the start menu for a couple seconds; I dragged all my important apps to the left side, so I hit the windows key, and click the app I want, then the metro interface goes away. I'm guessing this is about people who want to make fullscreen metro games?

WinRT developed apps are what he was referring to. [...]
what is the importance of these WinRT apps?

They're referring to "metro" apps which can only be acquired from the microsoft app store, WinRT is the lame version of Windows 8 that only runs on an ARM processor.

Metro was just the internal name for the tablet stylized UI used by microsoft, but the word Metro apparently is tied down to another company in terms of trademarks. Then they wanted everyone to call them Windows Store apps, I think the latest is "Modern UI" apps.

I'd be incredibly surprised if Microsoft didn't come under regulatory scrutiny, as the requirement to use the Windows Store to distribute WinRT apps is fundamentally anti-competitive. I honestly don't understand why Microsoft thinks it can get away with it.

Because Apple can, and to a small extent Google with the play store.

The RT version of Surface is going to be the next Zune for MS and it's their own fault, they could have easily cleaned up the tablet market space if they had.

a) Released an inexpensive x86 based hybrid tablet / pc that ran metro apps and regular desktop apps.

b) made the platform open for developers and enthusiasts alike to create programs for the metro UI, create incentive programs to release programs for the microsoft app store but not make it a requirement.

c) offered an educators discount for the tablets to be entrenched into k through 12 schools. All those kids would then tell their parents to purchase the MS tablet. As it is, schools are investing in Apple ipads - most without any discount and guess what tablet the kids are telling their parents to buy.

I really love that you guys post a bunch of additional deals on these posts. Thanks!

Ditto.

Syndicate is on sale for 10 bucks on greenmangaming. Despite it not living up to its pedigree, is it worth $10 for singleplayer?

No, prior to release the game didn't actually look too bad but at the last minute they decided to add a shitload of visual effects to the game, out of control lens flare, blue filter, bloom - oh my god the fucking BLOOM in this game #$*! etc. - some suspect they did this because early previews said the graphics looked dated so they tried to cover up poor textures etc.

FOV is locked to 65 with no way of changing it, there are a handful of console command tweaks to try to turn off some of the bullshit effects but you get really strange results, look one direction and the game looks good - turn another and it's almost too dark to see.

Poor sales resulted in no after sales support, no patch to fix it - that's why it's $10 now.

here's the before they fucked it up with bloom and after shot.

He pretty much hit it dead on why people play it so much compared to other FPS games. Even on computer.
Cliff notes for those of us who don't want to go through a 35 minute video?

He bitches a bit too long about needing to unlock attachments for each weapon, concludes that it's a guilty pleasure game - one that even he enjoys playing more than he's willing to admit.

no point to the video, if you're not a fan of COD games then you haven't bought it and probably wont.
