Anything to beat the street date of the next CoD game.

It's not going to help

Wow, that was just awful. And did they really need to make Jimmy Olson black? Rolleyes

Well they really could have switched it up and had a black Supergirl.

Pretty much, I'm surprised they kept the outfit (sort of) but they did that subdued color thing again.

I doubt Windows 10 would work on hardware running Windows XP without upgrading the ram at the very least, and for those people many are still on XP because of their requirement for some device driver that's only available on XP or would grind the computer to a halt speed wise if you upgraded the OS.
Windows 10's requirements are actually pretty modest: 1Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM, DX9 GPU, 16GB disk space. I have it installed on a USB stick, and it boots okay on a Dell Mini 9 (1GB RAM, 1.6Ghz Atom CPU). Everything's too big since they seem to assume everything's a high DPI touchscreen, but it works. Driver compatibility with old hardware may be different, but you need to be really ancient to have something without at least drivers for Vista, which I think should install on W10.

Interesting, I was expecting even more bloat on Windows 10. I just hope I don't have to jump through too many hoops to avoid their cloud crap.

Vista though should be on the list but whatever.

I haven't tried windows 10 preview, does it require you to have a MS account or can you bypass that?

I wonder how much money they spent on bringing back the original cast to do voice-over work for the really lame DLC pack they made?

You also have to factor in the price SEGA paid to use the Alien franchise which I bet cost them a huge amount of their budget. I remember that's why Bethesda dropped the Terminator license way back when it was still a thing.

The best part of the game was the music and atmosphere, they really nailed both. The mission structure could have allowed more freedom to explore, I found the whole system of assembling devices from scrap parts uninteresting and aside from health kits unnecessary.

Yeah, I guess I was reading into it that future versions were going to be some sort of "computing in the cloud" Windows 365 type service.

Who knows, they might go there and that's the day I switch to Linux or maybe sooner if it can become a little more user friendly. I listened to someones experience installing Nvidia drivers and it sounded like a headache.

That MS news is pretty interesting.. last stand alone Windows OS release.. so I guess Windows 10 update is not exactly optional either. Fine by me considering the price seems fair (for once).

It's not the last stand alone OS, they're just not going to stamp version numbers to the end. Might as well just call it Windows X.

Instead of releasing an entirely new and different version of its desktop OS every few years, Microsoft is taking an Apple-like approach to subsequent Windows releases, standardizing on Windows 10 as its Cupertino-based rival has done with OS X. Under this new strategy, Microsoft will deliver regular improvements to Windows through software updates.

I would have it take place prior to A New Hope, I always thought the books that were written by Brian Daley would have made great settings for movies to be made of, I suppose the lack of Storm Troopers would put off most though since they take place in the "corporate sector authority".

Sounds like they'll make it 3rd person if they're going to emulate the Batman games.

Have you ever played Battlefront? "Missions" are basically the only game mode. The only difference with "co-op" would be... one or two less bots.

bots will be available both on and offline

we'll see, they haven't detailed any of the game modes but it sounds like the bots will be specific to the co-op mode and not the 20v20 competitive mode.

I'm more interested in knowing if we're getting bots in the game. My PC doesn't have a Dolby Atmos setup.

No heavily-multiplayer games these days feature or at least depend on bots. Look at how Battlefield games dropped bots completely. We're in the day and age of fast, always-on Internet access. Multiplayer is the key. My only gripe is the proposed 40 player limit.

Bots will be available.

*for "Missions" which are the co-op portion of the game.

How about if your neck or eyes start to hurt you just stop using it? Maybe each Oculus should include a government monitor to make sure that it's being used properly, or just add on a $150 neck damage tax in case of future problems.

I don't think a $150 idiot tax would cut it. The youtube videos of people walking into walls or tripping over their kid/dog while trying to walk around with it on should be entertaining though.

I can definitely see eye strain being an issue but honestly when I got to demo this at a convention it surprised the hell out of me just how light it actually was. Unless someone is prone to neck injuries I don't see weight being an issue for many continuous hours of use.

If people can develop neck problems from texting then I'm sure this will cause problems for some people.

Head tracking isn't nearly as important to me as full-immersion 3D. I don't understand how anybody playing games can't understand how immeasurably better they would all be in 3D. I remember being impressed by the fucking VIRTUAL BOY, and modern tech is infinitely superior.

Full immersion 3D comes at a price though, eye fatigue/strain probably being highest on the list. I'm sure that wearing this thing isn't light either so you might add neck and shoulder pain to the list too.

There's no such thing as "moderation" for most people playing games, how many times have you sat down at a game and then realized you had been playing for many hours past what you had originally planed?

Bummer. Thought this would be coming out this summer.

They probably could but it needs to have a robust lineup of software that uses it, it'll be interesting to watch how this unfolds but from a comfort standpoint I just can't see wearing this for extended hours.

We've had high quality head tracking for a really long time now and it is just a niche device to be used mostly in simulators. This just adds the parallax 3d to the experience for the most part and seems more cumbersome.
