I hope it's not another game ruined by "shaky cam" gameplay like they did with kane and lynch 2.

News Comments > Battlefield 4 144Hz Netcode Update Coming

I agree.

One of the reasons that I didn't get Hardline was because none of the CTE improvements that came out a few months ago for BF4 were included (Plus the BF3/4 launches were terrible). I played the beta briefly and when I saw that there were no individual sensitivity sliders for different sights, I deleted the game.

People say that the "netcode" in HL is much better than in BF4 but I tend to assume that those people don't know what they're talking about because I also hear from veterans that the netcode in HL is just as bad as it was in BF4 in the first few months. There's a lot of talk about TTK (time to kill) in Hardline and I tend to think that it would be caused by poor netcode/tick-rate. I'll be surprised if this update makes a bit of difference. I hope it does, but we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for the reply.

Hardline servers run at 30hz, I still get the occasional death while thinking I've made it to cover and trade kill at least once or twice per match. They made the TTK faster in Hardline to try to differentiate themselves from BF4 and to quell the pitchfork crowd crying "BF4 mod". I can understand why they did it but I don't think having it faster makes it better - for normal mode anyway, I see many people complain about it before rage quitting.

Microsoft is still screwing over PC users by trying to maintain a death grip on their walled garden Metro app Store distribution system.

They need to allow people to install "Modern" apps from anywhere like you can for desktop apps.

All the retarded masses can keep using the MS Store to get their scamware and the rest of us can bypass if we want.

I hope that this is for console as well. The guy in the video mentions PC but not PS4/Xbone. I tend to play on PS4 mostly these days.

I read in an dev interview that the reason they had a low send rate from the client to the server (and vice versa) was due to bandwidth limitations imposed on consoles (xbox for sure) to maintain a low amount of network bandwidth usage.

Everything blooms from that point upward when it comes to designing games, developers like DICE seem to concentrate on insuring the game is consistent across all platforms with only minor tweaks to different platforms.

It's funny to hear Viseral involved with this update since for the most part BF Hardline has seemingly failed to find an audience on the PC and is still lacking many of the improvements that have made their way to BF4 already.

I bet they put a cap of 60Hz on the send updates (which is what this really is) the servers still run at 30hz and I don't think that's going to change.

A bluetooth mouse and keyboard tethered to your smartphone or tablet that you use to control a remote access view to a virtual "desktop", some sort of google glass type device will provide you with the display technology so you don't go blind trying to get work done on a 6" screen.

They've been wanting to strike out on their own for a long time, I think they even tried to negotiate to license the refractor engine from DICE but... no dice.

They won a free license to Torque 3D but I imagine they passed on using it because of the amount of work needed to just make it look good.

Essentially they need to remake all the assets (vehicles, soldiers, weapons, effects, sounds and animations) that were already available in BF2.

I don't know how they intend to keep cheaters from ruining the experience and I'm also concerned that they take the "realism" thing too far and cross the threshold from being fun to being outright frustrating. They really need to nail the shooter experience and I don't know if they can do that at the AAA level it needs to be - otherwise it's just another mod for Unreal posing as a game.

Thanks to Take Two's paranoia about losing console sales due to PC version piracy (read: releasing it over a year later on PC) I no longer give a shit about this.

TT is the last company that does this lame shit (holding back the PC sku). Every other publisher stopped this practice 6-7 years ago.

Idiots.

I'm sure with their 100 million sales, or whatever the final tally will be, they're all broken up about that. And you'll be the only gamer on earth that hasn't played it.

I'm sure he'll pirate it

It seems the damage model is fine for hardcore, so called normal mode can be brutal if you're migrating from BF3/BF4. It's the other "tweaks" they need to do to hardcore mode like the missing squad player list and whatnot that they need to address.

Anyways, multiplayer? Instanced servers or PvP hosting? I imagine it's player hosted for the smaller co-op game modes perhaps? No anti-cheat? Are there any modes that are objective based or is it just Team Deathmatch city?

No chance of creating multiplayer mods I'm guessing.

The GTA4 engine was severely CPU limited in it's performance, and there is little reason to expect this to be any different. Upgrading your video card before seeing it in action will probably prove unnecessary.

@DangerDog - You should be installing DanielK drivers for that soundblaster card

thanks, pretty sure those are for the older audigy cards. I have the OEM Soundblaster Z PCIe version.

GMG has had deals on it (with coupon codes) but I don't know if any are active atm.

I bought it, am upset they nerfed hardcore mode. It's just normal with no map / spotting. Still takes 4-5 rounds to kill, I'm use to hardcore being realistic, not conquest with no map.

Hardcore mode is so hardcore you don't even get to see who is in your squad!

I can't imagine anyone wanting even faster TTK than what's already in the game.

Won't the x86 architecture prevent a shoddy release? Maybe I don't understand.

Xbox 1 / PS4 are x86, the same as a PC. Aside from the improvements, isn't the game optimized already for PC? GTA 4 was made for PS3, and Xbox (separately due to the cell cpu I believe) and the PC port (x86) was separate from those. Poor optimization of the PC version could be blamed.

But how is it possible with x86 systems running it well? I think I am confused or not getting it. Am I mistaken in the basics? I'm no programmer, this is all wiki driven essentially.

You have more overhead on a PC, then there's the bazillion different configurations and driver versions you need to address, not to mention the people who have way too many programs running in the background on their systems, anti-virus programs alone probably cause more gaming performance loss than anything else.

You can have two people with seemingly identical hardware specs but on one the game will throw DX errors and crash while it runs just fine on the other. (blame the game? blame the user?)

I recently did a rebuild of my OS install, thought it would be a good idea to refresh all my drivers etc. Installed the very latest version of soundcard drivers (SoundBlaster Z) and noticed that some sounds weren't playing in Battlefield Hardline, down graded my drivers to the ones I had been using on my previous OS install and like magic everything works just fine again.

I think there's more people doing that in game than are actually playing the game objective.
Good game design

In BF4 you had the whole "phantom program" where people had to decode secret messages in order to unlock skins and weapons - well the bow anyway. I think they saw this as a great success and wanted to emulate it for some of the weapon unlocks. Of course people are going to boost their way to getting them once the details are discovered. In BF4 you had servers dedicated as "no kill" zones looking for these hidden random dog tags on maps.

They've said that they intend to make it easier to get the achievements needed for the weapons but people will probably still want to boost their way to completing the objectives.

I don't mind meta games for unlocks but it's all on them for making them so retarded difficult to get.
