I have severe buyer's remorse from this game. The community I'm in was/is heavily into the game, but I just couldn't stomach the gameplay and also the lack of direction. Most PVP occurred when one of the parties involved was offline. Real thrilling stuff.

The article is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's supposed to be a bit of a parody. Regardless, there is some truth there.

I've done the 'things you need but don't have', though it has never been a screw. Last time it was a CPU cooler, the stock one was loud and sucked, so I got out my old one, turns out it was dead. Needed a new one, and the store was already closed. Woe is me.

Most computer people are nice well to do folks, and like to exchange knowledge. They'll give advice on a subject, even if it's not wanted. This can be misconstrued as putting someone's work down.

There is also a lot of mysticism about how to apply TIM. It's an easy target for a joke. Just follow the directions on the tube. If it works, it works. Don't try to min/max it like a computer game.

I never get the /best/ equipment out there, so I have no illusions that my system is the fastest. Also, my upgrade cycles are every 5 years, so the results are very noticeable.

The LEDs and pins is seriously a pain in the ass. I'm only buying ASUS mobos until other companies either change this shit or design a similar connector. My previous Mobo was an ASUS, current is Gigabyte. I loathed having to connect those stupid pins.

The irony joke sucks. Person 1 demonstrates they don't understand irony. Standing at bus stops is not ironic.

I like the flight model in the DFM. I'm in the next wave to get into the multi player! It's fun, but the dogfighting aspect isn't why I backed the game, flying the multicrewed ships is! I bought the Constellation because of that and because I support the concept and direction this game is taking.

It's gonna be a while before anything actually close to a "game" is out, I understand that, and I can wait. Is it overly ambitious, it may seem that way to some. What you guys fail to see is that many of the backers are veteran players, they've played all the old Wing Commander, Privateer games and such, we have a more established monetary structure than your average gamer.

We're willing to support the game we've always wanted. Will it take much more than 47 million, probably, do we have more money to throw at it and are we willing, you're damn right we do. Are we crazy, maybe, do we care, no. Have we spent more than our current investment in SC on a night out in Vegas, yep. I still have a ways to go before I even get close to that.

So you can thank us in a couple years when a great game comes out you can get into for 60 bucks. If it doesn't live up to the blue's comment board posters high level of expectations, who am I kidding, not much does, then will our money have been wasted? We don't really care.

That's cool if you want to spend a lot of money to support the game. No one can tell you how you should spend your money. I'm in for just a little more than the full retail price of a AAA game ($75). I think that's fair for a game I want to play.

However, I don't like monetizing the development process. Currently, you can only 'test' features that you have 'bought'. This is really uncalled for and stinks of greed, and could potentially make the final product worse. I feel like I've paid full price for a game, don't place some crooked restrictions at this stage so you can squeeze the user-base for more money.

Green's goal was very nice.

Origi and Lukaku sunk the US. They were too fast for the Americans, and it was obvious when Belgium almost scored in less than the first minute.

As well as the US played, they're definitely weaker than the Belgians. If they played 10 times, I'm sure Belgium would win at least 9.

The game has lazy written all over it. I think they spent all their money on marketing. If the game is any good, it will sell itself.

My price point is $20 for what's offered. I still haven't seen that.

Why do people watch these people on Youtube? Never mind. Why do people watch day time talk shows and soap operas and reality TV?

Especially to watch this guy. I was browsing oculus rift videos and found one of his before I knew who he was, and it filled me with so much rage that I wanted to punch my monitor.

What pissed me off:
1) He talks like an idiot and that's not a remark about his accent
2) He kept showing his feet to the camera
3) He's terrible at playing games

He wants to stop, because they're not needed any more to generate revenue. Nobody has been pledging for these stretch goals in a while. People are paying to buy the virtual ships. They made 1 million this week by putting up for sale 3 new variations of an existing ship.

The travesty is there was no legal action taken against the NSA. A bunch of people from that organization should be going to jail. I wouldn't be involved in the court system that would seek justice against me, but doesn't pursue justice against the related crime.

Well, keep in mind a POV hat can take into account 2 DOF extra on the joystick. For example, in Elite Dangerous, I use my POV hat for the vertical and lateral thrusters so I can move around a target. I plan to have this on Star Citizen as well. There's a lot to be said about TrackIR for situational awareness of simply looking around as well. I really miss it in Arena Commander's current state.

That would work. I worry that there would be a loss in precision similar to game-pad joysticks vs mouse+kb in first person shooters. Those gimbal weapons demand accuracy. It would probably need some auto-aim like on consoles.

I already know about the alternate flight mode, hence why I said both mouse control schemes.

Sorry, misunderstood. Thought you were referring to coupled vs. non-coupled modes.

You won't be able to work the gimbal weapons though. Like I said previously, all the available control schemes force you to make sacrifices.

I think the flight model is very nice, but the controls are extremely limited. Space sims have always tried to shoehorn in atmospheric flight controls, which are limited to 3DOF in a 6DOF universe, ie. the joystick. The joystick alone is too limited. Plus, there's these gimbal weapons available which add 2 axis to control, so that's 8 total degrees of freedom required for full control.

I think the ideal setup is joystick(yaw, pitch, roll) + keyboard(up/down, left/right, front/back) for 6DOF, and head tracking(x, y) on the gimbal weapons or user interface. Of course, this would be a barrier to entry for many people, but it should be available.

Instead, we have some extremely limited control schemes. Joystick only (3DOF), mouse+keyboard (5DOF), and gamepad(don't know).

I'll happily wait until the game is done. That could be well after the final release. I don't have the time to play a broken incomplete mess of a game anymore.

This is even more lucrative because I'll usually get it on sale too.

I think Rome2 is sorta playable now. Hope to see a good price on the Steam summer sale.

It's too bad they have no desire to finish this game. It is actually a good concept. I'm just glad I didn't pay any money for it.

My biggest question about this game is the engine. It has never been proven capable of doing the things that a game like SC would require like massive open areas with planets, space stations, etc. Even if they manage to make it work, how will it run on modern PC's? I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing comes crashing down eventually. I would really like to see a game of this type succeed, but I am extremely skeptical.

I agree that the chosen engine has never been used in such a role. I take a bit of comfort with the fact that they've got a support line from Crytek. That said, I expect some limitations.

From what I know:

- There's no atmospheric flight. Landing on planets is a cut scene.
- There are going to be instanced space sectors and there's a hard limit to how many players can be in the same instance.
- Loading screens when switching from one space sector to the next.
