ooh a fellow riva128 alum. i know there was either an opengl driver or directx adapter for it because i played q2 extensively on it. i remember it being 10 fps faster than the voodoo cards at the time too. it didn't look quite as good, but that 10 fps was a big deal when going from 30 to 40.
yeh it came out about a month or so after the game IIRC...
i remember getting <100ms ping on 56k with that game.. the netcode was more solid than anything else by far at the time.. then tribes came along, also did not support anything other than voodoo, which was bullshit because i loved that game and the software renderer looked like ASS |

ive got one 560ti.. on 3.4ghz i5 with 8gb RAM.. i do have a SSD as well
game runs 45-ish fps with all settings on high, but thats in 1360x768
btw, best looking explosions EVER, imo.. yes, in all game history!
one thing that is REALLY stupid is how awesomely real the fire looks, but how it doesnt even burn the grass or trees down, or even remove the leaves or anything.. it just turns the texture black and smoldering, and gives off sparks... thats pretty lame, but oh well |

Far Cry 3 is super awesome.. its easily better than the first one, even
there are some issues, as with all games - but its insanely fun, its at the level of Just Cause 2 in terms of sheer fun\
the numerous upgrades for knife takedowns alone are worth the whole game.. but its got so much more
only problem is that its way too short IMO... already waiting for DLC |
