Second, are you really so stupid as to be unable to research an FPS without playing it and make an informed opinion about it?

wait a second - so you have never even played DayZ, but you are sure that it deserves a mod of the year award...

and I am the stupid one?

looks like you dont even know what the word "stupid" means

Ok, your turn. I'm sure you must have millions of hours logged into DayZ that your word is all but gospel at this point. So, enlighten us with your masterful viewpoint of this game, and allow us to bask in you telling us how many millions of hours you have played of it. And how it doesn't compare to other mods out there?

i think it sucks

hows that? are you happy now?

wow then you must be uniquely qualified to comment on it extensively

jdreyer wrote on Dec 30, 2012, 23:14:
Given the number of players (millions) and endless varieties of emergent gameplay it allowed, it seems to me an obvious and deserving choice. Flawed to be sure but also fresh with real stakes. If not DayZ, what would you have chosen?

well, how can we even begin to debate? you are the expert!

but perhaps, just perhaps - you could give a few examples of the "endless varieties of emergent gameplay" based on your complete lack of experience actually playing the game for even one moment

Muad'Dib is wise in the ways of the desert. Muad'Dib creates his own water. Muad'Dib hides from the sun and travels in the cool night. Muad'Dib is fruitful and multiplies over the land. Muad'Dib we call 'instructor-of-boys.' That is a powerful base on which to build your life, Paul Muad'Dib, who is Usul among us.

considering that is the control scheme they were designed for, it seems that YOU are the one smoking crack

How is it "too late" if he's made money off of this.

because people have to see that the bad guys get punished somehow

otherwise, the world wont be as safe... it might even be.. dangerous out there

Per Wikipedia:
There is no clear evidence that the classic Maya were aware of precession. Some Maya scholars, such as Barbara MacLeod,[41] Michael Grofe,[88] Eva Hunt, Gordon Brotherston, and Anthony Aveni,[89] have suggested that some Mayan holy dates were timed to precessional cycles, but scholarly opinion on the subject remains divided.[28] There is also little evidence, archaeological or historical, that the Maya placed any importance on solstices or equinoxes.[28][90] It is possible that only the earliest among Mesoamericans observed solstices,[91] but this is also a disputed issue among Mayanists.[28][90] There is also no evidence that the classic Maya attached any importance to the Milky Way; there is no glyph in their writing system to represent it, and no astronomical or chronological table tied to it.[92]

hey professor.. you gonna need to do alot more research if you want to impress me with your "knowledge"

a disputed wiki link wont cut it

also, looking up at the sky confirms my original hypothesis, so... its a bit easier to prove

i could give you some evidence for the maya's knowledge of procession, but that would take up my time, which is wasted on you, sorry

I just thought it was sort of weird to have it on the same day as the winter solstice. I was really looking forward to surviving it and getting my Fallout/Mad Max on and referring to it as "the before time...in the long, long ago."

its supposed to be on the winter solstice, and its supposed to be the day when the rising sun visually aligns with the center of the elliptical plane of the milky way galaxy... a cycle that takes 26000 years

it was a projection of an astronomical event, calculated back in 500BC ...

thats what the mayans were doing - all this "end of the world" stuff came much much later, via Terence McKenna

What's to stop someone from renting something, photocopying it, then calling to claim they got the photocopy instead? Then Redbox accuses the person before the actual fraudster of fraud.

a conscience would stop them, but alas - people dont have those anymore
