So instead of Half Life 3 we continually get crap like this instead.

Maybe it's the zen coming out, but I could wait another 10 years if it means getting a quality game with reply value. I still play through Half-Life 2 at least once a year and it's a completely linear experience (for the most part). I doubt they'd deviate too far from their success, but I'd love to see them take some risks with HL3 and really make it a 'GOAT'. Give me open-world with replayability...and a crowbar ofcourse.

News Comments > Star Wars Focused DICE Studio Coming
39. Re: Star Wars Focused DICE Studio Coming May 15, 2013, 18:06 Flak

Can't wait to see how DICE/EA manage to project liquid shit all over the almost dead Star Wars gaming franchise.

Expect big promises with broad applications at first that are eventually funneled into the console development cycle and spit out like Battlefield 3, a cluster-fuck of unintelligible madness designed to satiate the lowest common denominator, from absolutely abysmal map design, to gimmicky 'features', to non-existent weapon balancing.

Congratulations DICE, EA is so fond of your mediocrity that they're hoping you can bury Star Wars like Battlefield, don't disappoint them!

Oh wow, look at all the potential Battlefield titles I'll never play. I stopped playing Call of Duty a few years ago and I stopped playing Battlefield after 3/Premium...but at this point I'm rooting for Call of Duty, hopefully 'Ghosts' isn't the same re-hashed steaming pile of turd that the last 4-5 Call of Duty games have been, while DICE/EA would like nothing more than to settle into the CoD routine of re-hashing the same game on slightly different maps on the same engine, sadly I don't see them reaching their wet dream of becoming the new CoD.

Oh, BTW, they've already 'locked-down' the feature set for Battlefield 4, if you want to make a suggestion, do it for Battlefield 5, or maybe Battlefield 20 if we're really lucky!

Battlefield and Star Wars, two storied gaming franchises who've found their way to the EA graveyard for a premature retirement. EA...destroy everything!

Easily one of the BEST games I've ever played. I've purchased this game for myself and 2 other people. I've had a few people come up to me and say 'the game looked like nothing special at first, but once playing it I got sucked in, thanks for putting me on to it'.

If you're even remotely interested in this game, GO BUY IT NOW. The game is simply incredible, even more so when you consider that basically 2 guys made it. Support these developers!

PS. This makes my day, fuck EA and everything about them. The level of butthurt displayed by Peter Moore has reached a new level, suck it up princess and stop complaining about it. Maybe if you didn't produce perpetual mediocrity, people wouldn't tear your company to shreds.

14. Re: Warframe Registers 1M Players Apr 6, 2013, 18:05 Flak

I know it's probably hard for the Blues News crowd to believe this but I know a few people through gaming communities that spend money on these F2P games...LOTS OF MONEY. I honestly couldn't believe it when they were telling me. I know someone in particular that has spent $750 in the game War Thunder, the worst part of all, the guy has less than 10 hours played in it. I know a few of these casual players with lots of disposable income that spend ungodly amounts of money on a 'free' game that they barely play, it makes no sense at all to me, but these types of people do exist, $750...that's like 12 copies of a $60 game.

...$750 dammit!!

Looks like some sources are starting to confirm that G-Fibe is in fact coming to Austin:

I really hope this is the beginning of their long-term roll out strategy. It's about time the US (and North America for that matter) join the rest of the world with proper 21st century internet access.

I still haven't heard a single thing mentioned about the absolutely pathetic netcode.

If they're still using client-side hit registration, this game will be a massive steaming pile of shit before the 'alpha' *server stress test* is released.

Hey DICE, maybe you should just take it a step further and go the Modern Warfare route, seeing as you have your lips firmly planted around the cocks of Activision, go ahead and remove dedicated servers entirely and use peer hosting, I think that would be a great idea, use advertising to plaster the peer hosted loading screen to bring in additional revenues. Maybe provide *exclusive* 24-player dedicated servers to Platinum Elite Yolo Swag Black Jesus Premium Players™.

Who in the fuck cares? Seriously?

If it's his money, he should be able to spend it on magical space hookers that poop out rare earth metals if that's what he wants to do and that's what people who attend his party enjoy. As long as no one is being hurt or forced against their will, this really is a non-story. People need to grow up and stop trying to be a white knight at every opportunity.

Ahh, I thought CTF might actually have a chance, but of course the shining BF3 community managed to ruin it.

CTF matches end up being 80% of each team spawn camping each other behind the enemy flag, they don't even attempt to capture the flag, they just sit in the back of the spawn and kill people as they come in. Don't know if I should blame the dumbass people who play this game or the dumbass developer who made the game and allow this type of spawn camping behavior.

Hopefully Legendary adds more challenge, without using any mods the game got pretty easy towards the end once you had good gear, even at the hardest difficulty, glad to see they're adding some more replay value to the game.

all the terribles whining about cheaters and hackers, it couldn't be the fact that there are people better than you you, nah that's not possible.

I've played well over 1000 hours in BF3 and I can count the hackers I've seen on one hand.

Really? You aren't very perceptive then, I've only played 600 hours and would guess that I've run in to 40-50 at the least. The sad part is that I suspect there are a lot of really really terrible players using hacks, the hacks bring them up to a level that seems normal, but there are definitely no shortage of hackers in BF3, this coming from a guy with over 3.00 KD ratio and 800+ SPM playing as infantry.

Oh wow, destruction version 4.01.01.9001 omgz!!!!

Game is a total failure if it doesn't:
- Get rid of the putrid client-side netcode (get behind cover...and then die, YAY!!!)
- Dumps the console gimmicks like scope glint and suppression
- Have spectator mode/battlerecorder
- Maps built for actual 64-player capacity, not horrific console-port maps (Compare BF2 Karkand with BF3 Karkand /end of discussion)
- Have expanded squad-system with IN GAME VOIP

If DICE fails to address even one of those glaring issues I won't even consider Battlefield 4, at this point DICE can burn to the ground with big daddy EA.

Gameplay wise, I really love it. Yes, I wish cities were a little bit bigger. Yes, the AI for the agents is a bit 1990ish, but all in all it's a really fun game.

Wow, when you have to qualify it like that...it's just sad.

1) The CITY IS 2km x 2km, it's more like a neighbourhood of 4 blocks
2) The PEOPLE are brain-dead, the AI is broken, the services don't work like they should, the traffic logic is hilarious

So let me get this straight, you paid $60 for a CITY simulation game about PEOPLE and the two main components are either largely overstated or just-flat our broken? Sounds like a great formula for a 'fun' game. Oh, what I would do to be a casual gamer ;). They should rename this game to 'empty neighborhood planner 2013'.

Side note: The End Game maps are AWESOME.

You have to hand it to DICE for their level design sometimes.

Really? Like how the sun glares in the eyes of the RU side on the train-track CTF map creating an obvious imbalance and migraine-inducing effect of constantly having your monitor flash pure white over and over again? Yeah, genius design!!!

DICE are clowns, I suppose Damavand Peak and Operation Metro are all-timers as well...

After the way EA has handled SimCity I'm not touching their games until they've seemed to learn their lesson.

Lol give your head a shake, you honestly think:

1) EA learned their lesson?
2) EA actually gives a flying squirrel fuck about their customers?

At this point, it's just battered wife's syndrome. EA smacks us around a bit, hurts our feelings, we threaten to do something about it, and then they lie about promised futures and we believe them and go back with open arms and a big dumb grin. Please EA, for the love of Christ put us out of our misery already!

Same with CoD. Eventually the audience is going to get bored. Even the knuckle draggers.

Think it has more to do with the games being incredibly mediocre, re-hashed and uninspired. Once someone comes along and creates the next big shooter, it'll break records all over again. Don't kid yourself, just because CoD and MoH are absolute garbage doesn't mean people are going to stop playing shooters any time soon, people love competitiveness and violence, online FPS fills that nicely.

It's my optimistic hope that these horrible shooters inspire a new generation of developers to create FPS games that don't...suck.

I hate to say it but BF3 is still the only 'fun' current shooter I've played. The only reason I play it so much is because it's good in comparison to CoD or MoH, it might not be good on its own, but by comparison you should feel lucky it's even around to play, although at this rate Battlefield 4 will just be a direct clone of CoD.
