In other words... despite the continuing slew of shitty AAA games minus a few keepers, many people are still spending money they don't have on shit they don't need.

People still play Quake? (That's not a troll. I'd really like to know.)

Do they play QuakeLive?

I had more fun on Q2 Lithium 2 InstaGib w/hook than really any other game I can remember.

Lithium was undoubtedly my favorite too Zaz0r. Loved qwtf, loved RA, but lived lithium...

I played it on and off till last couple months. Terrible netcode, awful jump mechanics, worst interface, zero community esp in the US, lots of things wrong with it aside from the oldschooler pov, and not much to get excited about if you never touched a fps before.

To me, the biggest issue was plain old PR bullshit -- Nadeo kept on with their "OMG Most amazing game with multi gazillion dollar touneys with quake stars around the world" spin.... just so laughable I felt embarrassed for the few players who wanted it to succeed.

Austin has been THE tech city (to anyone in the industry) since the early 90's -- its just business as usual when more tech comes in...

lol 11 billion over 5 years is nothing in the scheme of things investing.... it WILL happen.

What's their competition? Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon? Google would make them look like the fooltards they are. Yes... it will happen. The more they roll out, the more people will buy it. Austin is a killer move, best IT place in the US if you ask me.

I couldn't agree more Verno, the silver lining right now is they are hardcore pandering (and winning over) indie developers.

I for one don't go crazy for mario x zelda bleh (I mean they are ok, but I'm not a ninteno IP freak). BUT it only takes some killer titles like a new Super Smash bros or the enhanced Rayman to seal the deal for many, esp if it's priced right.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think nintendo's strategy is to actually compete at the end of the year, where they have alot of wiggle room, some killer titles, and can throw out real comparisons which might end up surprising alot of folks.

Well no matter how you cut it the Wii owns face in the motion and party game category across all ages.

I know the Sony and MS camps wanna dis on Nintendo, there's a whole slew of dummies who think console domination is more important than competition.

But at the end of the day Nintendo make great consoles, great games, and top-of-the-foodchain casual fun, which is all us "hardcore" pc gamers care about in the console arena, both for ourselves and our kids.

I can afford my tech luxuries because I choose wisely (don't smoke, don't drink, cook at home, no debt, work smart, shop smart, etc etc), so price isn't an issue for me - it's what the item offers.

Our wii got 10x the use of our xbox, but then again our PC's got 50x the use of both. I have a Wii U, kids love it even tho the titles are shit for the most part. I'll get an Ouya, and I'll likely get the PS or Xbox. I'm no fanboy of any, I call them like I see them.

The few adults I know who "play" it do it for a workout, not for fun (other than it's more fun than lifting weights or running around).

The ones I know who 'play' it for fun, are preteens to teens and it's not often.

But I agree, that's pretty much the only good use of the Kinect.

I've yet to find any adults who think/thought kinect party games was anything other than annoying. My kids had fun with kinect the first day and that was it, maybe 10 minutes here and there over it's lifetime in my home.

Dude, talk to any girl in her 20s that has played a Dance Central game.

Are you a girl in your 20s playing dance central? That's pretty specific, and off by a few years they are 12 year olds...

know plenty of girls in their teens to 20s who don't make a habit playing those games... not saying it doesn't happen, but it's sure not often.

Microsoft markets xbox to people who think consoles are hardcore, and then there's those who blindly love microsoft -- and their base is rabid - both the noob and HC crowd. With most things microsoft, they could put out complete shit and both camps would buy it - it's always been that way just ask Win ME, Win Vista and Win 8...

Course theres always a handful of folks like me who get it because my kids friends dads got one... lol

No different with most companies, but ridiculously true with the xbox crowd.

Yes kinect was cute for kids, and only for a limited discovery time not longterm. Actual gaming tho, gimme a break it was terribad.

I'll be curious to watch how this plays out, with all the costs outside the normal box.

I made a prediction and stand by it. I have nothing to gain or lose with it's success or failure, I just know the outcome already and am never afraid to stand outside the neutral line of mediocrity like the vast majority of play-it-safers in life.

You can't know the outcome, it's impossible to predict with so many different factors in play. You made a dubious guess like everyone else, nothing more. Acting like you're taking a big risk by making a 50/50 prediction on the internet is something worthy of a hackneyed cold reader.

If I didn't know the outcome, I wouldn't have stated it. I never said I'm taking a risk, I eluded to the fact that most people are sheep and stay somewhere in the middle on most things in life, and try to be cutesy poopies in the process with words like 'hackneyed cold reader'...
