It's so weird to me that people who claim to be tech geeks don't see value in computers being able to hold decent conversations, write decent essays, and create decent images. Just being able to analyze large chunks of data in seconds, with a cellphone, is crazy
[...] But TFP is right, once you understand the mechanics of it (which are far from new), you know that it is a bubble based on hype. A bubble that is already beginning to deflate. There is nothing to get excited about because it is an incredibly immature technology.
I see this LLM hype in the same way that I saw VR hype in the 90s. People who were all in on the hype yelled from the rooftops with great enthusiasm "This is the future! The future is now!" Well, here we are decades later and VR has a market share of 2.24% according to the latest Steam stats. [...]

Installed 2.0 on release day, but not the expansion. Yes it’s a major overhaul but it doesn’t make the core of the game any better. For the most part I play CP2077 because of its visual presentation- which is stunning imo. I never had the urge to beat the game and that didn’t change with v2.0.

and still, the quality of CP2077 is, was and will always be far below the milestone that Witcher 3 was. Just my 5c.
I don't have much time here, so I'll be brief. The US DoD is shitting its pants because the F-35 was actually shot down by what was apparently small arms fire. While I don't know specifics, we do know it was large caliber (.50 BMG or similar) that engaged it while it was performing hovering maneuvers. The pilot heard several "ping" (pilot's words, not mine) sounds before seeing warning lights appear. He or she (don't know that detail) ejected shortly afterwards. The plane was performing low speed maneuvers at approximately 2500 ft over a sparsely populated area know to local law enforcement as having militia activity., so those groups are prime suspects right now.
They have already retrieved parts of the airframe and this news came in about 2 hours ago. POTUS is already being briefed and federal LEOs are starting to investigate alongside military police.
The story they are putting out that they lost it is just to cover for the fact that American insurgents just downed the most capable airframe in the USMC's arsenal with commercially available small arms.
The DoD is taking the approach of appearing to be stupid when it is actually incredibly weak. I would not expect them to ever publicly release that a backwoods malitia downed this aircraft, as doing so would severely damage the already strained credibility of the armed forces. Even though I was part of the briefing, the details I was given are sparse due to the embarrassing nature of all of this.

It is obvious that the vast majority is GamePass (and Xbox) since we have the Steam numbers.

This announcement is reeking of desperation to make Starfail appear more successful than it is.

I'm just not sure which mega-billion dollar corporation I should feel the most sorry for. I know they both have my best interests at heart, which makes choosing one all the more difficult.
US approves chicken made from cultivated cells, the nation's first 'lab-grown' meat.
Some of the companies call their products cultured meat, or cultivated meat, or cell-cultured meat. All of them stress the M-word. “This is meat,” Upside Foods Inc. Chief Executive Officer Uma Valeti said at an industry conference a little more than a year ago. “Calling it anything else, I think, is going to be misleading.” On a cellular level, alternative protein advocates say, it’s no different. And that’s 99.9% true.
The big honking asterisk is that normal meat cells don’t just keep dividing forever. To get the cell cultures to grow at rates big enough to power a business, several companies, including the Big Three, are quietly using what are called immortalized cells, something most people have never eaten intentionally. Immortalized cells are a staple of medical research, but they are, technically speaking, precancerous and can be, in some cases, fully cancerous.

Does this thing have any sort of timeframe? Seems like it's been dragging on forever.

No, the extreme grimdark of WH40k that borrows heavily from late WW1 technology mixed in with low grade fantasy writing really isn't for everybody. I enjoyed some of the WH40k games, but it's always a "well this is pretty good, but it probably could have been better without the baggage of the license" type thing.

I find the melee in vermintide games pretty dull, can you shoot 99% of the time in this?
