Mountain Dew is a PepsiCo brand, though.

Ugh fine, change Pepsi to Coke or something.

I don't know if you realize it or not, but they already do that. There was a Mountain Dew XP bonus tied to Halo 4 and I think to the last CoD or two as well.

In my scenario the Kinect was watching what the person was drinking like an electronic stalker and recommended a brand change.

Kinect: "Hello Dave. I see your drinking Pepsi. Wouldn't a cold, delicious Mountain Dew be better? Drink a Mountain Dew while playing and unlock the "Do the Dew" XP bonus."

I can just see this kind of shit happening. It'll make horse armor look sensible.

Unfortunately desktop mode improvements will be far and few between as they would prefer to phase it out completely. To hell with their existing userbase with PC's/laptops, if you aren't buying their new hardware you aren't on their radar.

Its a bit ironic hearing that from a developer that just had massive layoffs.

That's the reason there's been no Blu-Ray release of the series. Someone somewhere at some point erased the files with all the CG models. The live footage was recorded on film so it can be converted to Blu-Ray quality no problem (they even filmed it in widescreen for future proofing). But the CG stuff was only recorded at DVD spec as they thought they could re-render it later on in higher def when technology advances made it cheaper. Now they'd have to redo everything from scratch and the studios don't want to bankroll that.

And yes it blows.

I fail to understand how devs keep losing assets or source codes. It'd take what... 2.5GB to save all the art assets for FF8? They can't afford the buck forty it would take to store that and back it up on a yearly basis?

Agreed on loving FF8, though. It remains my favorite from the Playstation 1 triumvirate. (7-9)

True, but even with digital storage 14 years is a long time (and naturally drives were smaller back then). And Japan does have the occasional disaster to muck plans up. Hell they could even have a stupid intern who wiped the disks like with what happened to Babylon 5.

I doubt after all this time Square still even has all those pre-rendered background assets saved anywhere.

Anyways I might check it out if we get it here, I actually enjoyed 8. It still has the best minigame in the franchise (Triple Triad). And I loved how you could just utterly wreck the difficulty with the right setup.

I'm sorry, what's the issue with the Steam Cloud? I seem to have missed a page here...

Sync issues can occur. I had that problem with FTL where a savegame would be available on one machine but not another even though it kept saves in the cloud.

F the cloud. Great technology in general but until legislation catches up to protect it I don't trust it much.

I don't see how they could possibly do 1080p. That would mean that they have to fit 2x 1080p displays inside that tiny headset. The smallest 1080p that I can find is 4.5-5 inches wide. Maybe I'm just plain wrong but it seems like it's not possible with today's tech. I hope they can do it, but it seems like a long shot.

The horizontal resolution is split between the two eyes, at 1080p the effective res of both screens would be 960x1080

Independent studies were commissioned and it was proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that for every dollar in credit that was given it generated several times that amount and that money was invested right back into the province. And it is a fact that after the credit was cancelled the industry left. The rest of what you said has nothing to do with the situation.

As a Canadian taxpayer that works in an industry that doesn't get any tax breaks I'm loathe to part with my money for any that do regardless.

We had this argument in SK last year with the removal of a film tax credit. The money saved by cancelling the credit was dwarfed by the money lost by the film industry packing up and leaving. If a tax credit attracts businesses to the province and leads to a net economic benefit I have no problem with it.

The original Eternal Darkness was pretty good. But that was developed when they were a 2nd party under Nintendo, a company who historically keeps very tight reins on its studios to maintain quality. When that was gone they went off the rails, no reason to expect anything different now. And as a Canadian taxpayer I say no more freebies until you can provide quality work.
