...so you're not smart enough to follow the logic that buying a space based RTS sight unseen from a developer that hasn't done a real space based 4X game in 8 years yet seems to be promising the moon is a bad idea?

And you don't see how that correlates to pre-order customer from SotS II, which also promised the moon, and how those same players were fucked royally for two years solid?

Oh, yeah, "Early Access"...except in every shitty "Early Access" titles, there are always the mouthpieces and white knights that plead "But it'll get better" and it so rarely does.

Since it's a completely different developer no it doesn't correlate. Unless you're trying to claim that somehow a different developer screwing up a game has eternally doomed an entire genre to the same fate?

I think they were going to sell it at a loss before to make sure it's cheap enough to get an install base. Kinda want consoles did the last few times at launch.

Consoles do that because they make money the money back on licensing fees with games, not applicable to Oculus.

Also the idea, Facebook's dystopian future if you will, is that everybody will be wearing one and what you look like physically is no longer relevant. Three Likes for Emperor Zuckerberg! Like! Like! Like!

Will the pokes be done in real life by our android slaver/master/keepers?

If it is it's easy to substitute someone else that did the same. Jim Henson?

About 40 percent of the time that people spend online on computers is on gaming, Mr. Zuckerberg said, and 40 percent is on social communication.

“You need to fuse both of those together,” he said.

Sigh.

Not me. Never have, never will.

Had it for a month, pressured into it. Didn't like it and deleted it.

There's nothing Zuckerberg can say to smooth over the situation as noone trusts him. The only person who might have a chance to at least partially ease peoples fears would be Carmack.

I was hoping this would be more naval than it turned out to be. I miss the old naval maps from 1942. But it's been so long since then I guess those days are gone.

Impulse was a one-time serial number activation. That was all. Offline ever-after if desired. SteamDRM isn't and never will be until Valve goes shall we say, belly up...like Impulse did.

You are correct about Impulse. But the argument is purely academic as Stardock is integrating Steamworks into the game thereby necessitating the need for Steam to be running, DRM or not.

I've never played the first 2 games, and based on this trailer I don't see anything to get excited about. Is this game have real time battles like the Total War games have?

No it isn't like Total War. A more contemporary example of a similar game would be Civ5. Except this series is known for having excellent (and devious) AI.

As for me I'm always down for more Galciv, played an unhealthy amount out of 2 and it's expansions.

Haven't played 4 so take my opinion with a grain of salt but this sounds like typical Dice. I remember the absurd amount of time it took them to kill the highly annoying red/blue nametag bug in BF2.

If the worst consumer experience a person has in an entire year is buying an EA game then that person leads an incredibly sheltered life.

Plus judging how difficult developers found it to adapt to the PS3 hardware for the first few years after launch it'll probably be a bigger pain in the ass to emulate than normal.

Now that I've had a chance to view the video at home, it's quite pretty. 4 was clearly held back by the need to be portable to the old consoles, this looks truly next gen. And if it's actual alpha footage that's a big increase to crowd density at the very end there.

Still need to see some new gameplay though.

When a majority of people here get excited about a game I get excited. I've been ignoring D3 until recently with the new patch and expansion, starting to think I should take a look.

I enjoyed 4 for all the naval stuff and shanties it brought, but I'm really really tired of the on foot stuff. I don't think I can stomach climbing a viewpoint for the millionth time. Or a follow mission.
