But after Nintendo built its Scrooge McDuck money vault anyone would be envious. Then the "me-too!" motion addons came out. |

Flatline wrote on Jan 13, 2013, 17:15: That's a rational statement. Suicide is an irrational act. When you're suicidal you don't see things logically or rationally. You're usually caught up in soul-crushing despair, to the point that not-existing seems like less pain than what you're feeling. Rational arguments or bon mots like "suicide is never the answer" can actually do more harm than good, because it increases the alienation and deepens the despair. Even one person tossing that out can make the suicidal person feel like the entire world is callous to where they're at and make the decision to kill yourself that much easier. I can vouch for that. About 6 months ago after a rapid fire parade of shitty events in my life I went into a 1-week depression and had suicidal thoughts for the first time in my life. Food was tasteless, hobbies brought no joy, other people seemed alien to me. It isn't just feeling sad, you feel nothing like a machine. Your brain is literally not working properly under depression, logic has left the building. The primal urge to survive is one of the strongest drives we have, if it isn't working clearly something is broken up there. I used to think the same things about suicidal people, that its selfish and they're just being drama queens. As with many things in life until you experience it you can't understand it. They need help not scorn. |

| I take those specs with many grains of salt. I'm still betting the jump will be small and focused more on interface and services rather than horespower. Too much competition from other platforms and too costly for both console production and game development to take the risk of going all in. Time will tell I suppose. |

| I just keep getting more excited for this. Ever since I first tried VR at a fair 20-ish years ago I've been waiting for this day. Hell I even bought a Virtual Boy to get a fix (my eyes, the goggles do nothing!). |

Lol "AIG Inc, the insurer rescued by the U.S. government in 2008 with a bailout that ultimately totaled $182 billion, may now join a lawsuit against the government alleging the terms of the deal were unfair."
There are no words.

JeffD wrote on Jan 7, 2013, 19:40: To bad it hasn't shown us that. Every system intensive port like assassins creed 3 has had the Wii U version fall into 3rd place.. either it lost in frame rates or noticeable world detail is lower. Those games were released on platforms that devs have had 5-6 years to optimize and refine their tools and code for. WiiU game development is still in its infancy. The PS3 also had framerate and visual quality issues with 360 ports for the first few years. As devs get used to the platform it'll take a clear lead in visuals, just as comparing modern 360/PS3 games to their launch titles would. |

all the animosity people have against windows 8 makes ZERO sense. The animosity does make sense you simply disagree with it. I'm glad you enjoy 8, the rest of us who don't will skip it or wait until SP1 (Sanity Pack 1) to give them a chance to fix things. |

| Just got back from seeing Hobbit. I was really skeptical about the 48fps thing and in the beginning some parts looked weird. But by the middle all the way to the end I was sold. The level of detail it affords is astounding, the 3D felt so natural in some parts that my previous misgivings about the glasses were gone. Combined with some fantastic CG (seriously how amazing was Gollum's animation) and a fun story even with the padding my ticket for the next movie is guaranteed. |

| I just hope we don't end up with competing standards. Normally competition is a good thing but its taken so long to get a shot at decent commercial home VR that I don't want anything to rock the boat right now. |

Aero is gone I'm afraid. Rounded edges, transparencies, smoked glass effects, drop shadows, all apparently "cheesy" according to MS. |
