I'm going to miss it about as much as the Blockbuster video store near me that recently closed after 20+ years. In other words, good riddance!

Now now be fair. In it's day Blockbuster was at least useful.

The FCC couldn't even properly classify what kind of utility the internet is, which led to this mess. And that was the easy part. They expect us to believe they'll regulate it properly with the monopolies calling the shots behind the scenes? If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you. With neon lights, laser powered toll booths and magnetic acceleration strips.

Because labor unions did such a good job transforming Detroit into a socialist utopia and the teachers union did such a good job in making sure our public schools aren't ranked among the worst in the world...

Ok but none of that is the unions job. And both issues are far too complex to be able to just say "grr unions!".

It didn't foil a terrorist plot. It stopped some dudes from wiring some money to some other dude that may somehow have been possibly related, in some way, to terrorist activity, somewhere. Perhaps. Fuck the NSA.

What I also find interesting is that it also indirectly adds evidence to the idea that the whole post-911 "terrorists are everywhere!" mentality they try to sell the public is bogus. They spend billions of dollars setting up the the biggest, most expansive and advanced communications monitoring systems the planet has ever seen and all you found was one guy wiring money? The problem is way bigger than the NSA.

From "dozens" down to one. Maybe.

Oh yeah that's an efficient use of money.

Jesus Christ some of you guys are insensitive pricks. I agree with the sentiment that its rude to text and use your phone in the theatre but no one deserves to get shot and killed over it!

I don't see anyone saying they deserved it. Nor does anyone deserve to be on the receiving end of the rage of a mentally unbalanced person with access to firearms.

It's the light from the screen that's annoying, not the noise.

And thanks for reminding me why I have only been to 1 movie at a theatre in the last 18 months.

Exactly.

Fortunately at my theater people seem to respect the rules most of the time. Though there was this one time where a woman had 2(!) phones out. In the dark those things are like miniature lamps, drags you out of the movie.

Camera's are everywhere and drones will be the norm. Voice recognition and facial recognition technology imbedded everywhere. It's all coming, folks. So..How to balance that economy budget? Where can this all possibly lead?

Curse Tax: Every time someone curses, whether on or offline, charge them 25 cents per curse.

Should I patent the idea and become a trillionaire?..

John Spartan, you are fined one credit for a violation of the verbal morality statute.

Smart TVs, smart fridges, smart washing machines? Disaster waiting to happen.

Read this yesterday, and kind of agree. Who really needs an internet ready fridge anyway?

One comment on there summed it up for me, it's a solution waiting for a problem. There are some occasional uses I can see like checking what's in the fridge on you're smartphone while your shopping, and maybe the ability to turn off a stove/appliance remotely in case you forget. But imo the security and potential privacy tradeoff isn't worth it.

If that's the one he's talking about I finished playing through that DLC on my PC last week already. Really enjoyed it too. Killing slavers is always fun.

How many times must it be drummed into people's heads that just because it's published on the Internet does not mean that it is true, or even rational, for goodness' sake.

By your logic we should ignore you. Good protip.

Speak not this blasphemy. When Lucas made Ep 1, the Gungans lived in an aquatic zone, and it turned out just fine. Even when they had to traverse the planet core.

Did you not attend the meeting where we all agreed Episode 1 never happened?

Nope never heard of it.
