Very true. There are a ton of people who wouldn't even dream their government would be doing this stuff. There are a lot of naive and dumb sheeple out there.

I'm more worried about the people who are both aware & perfectly ok with it. People who are blissfully ignorant of world history and the reasons the civilized world decided these laws were important. Apparently way too many of these types get voted in to office.

After some of the messes that have "launched" recently take all the time you need. Do it right the first time. Can't speak for others but my backlog won't be hurt by it. I swear I have like 10 RPG's to go through as it is.

That Judge is like a robot programmed with an amalgam of all the logically bankrupt "if you have nothing to hide" arguments you can find in random forums on the internet.

Worse still, any Judge saying any Federal agency should be given carte blanche is downright fucking frightening.

Most evil corporations don't have their janitors doing the IT work and storing their passwords in a hilariously named folder called "passwords".

Give him a break guys, it isn't like he's beaming advertisements into your brain while you sleep Futurama style.

That's at least 10 years off.

Once I can see. Not excusable but I can understand it. Your staff are lazy or under trained. Management doesn't understand or take seriously their IT needs. Corporate culture has things paralyzed. Something let standards slip. Shouldn't happen but it does in poorly managed companies, I get it.

But ANOTHER major hack? 3 years after the last one which even got congress involved they still haven't locked their shit down? Now we've gone from inept to serial and dangerous incompetence. I don't know how the laws work for this stuff, especially in the modern "get out of jail free card" corporate era, but if there is a book it should be thrown at them. Out of a cannon.

What am I missing? Right now, this game feels like the worst of the series that was cobbled together out of a failed attempt at an instanced MMO with the DA name on it.

To quote the developer.

OK, so I'm reading a lot of feedback about the game on different sites and I'm noticing a big trend. A lot of of the people complaining about the game are saying things like "boring sidequests," "really slow," "can't get into the story/characters." And that is almost always accompanied by "I'm trying to do everything in the Hinterlands before moving on."

Normally I wouldn't tell anybody else how to play the game. And I definitely recognize the OCD-ness, must complete everything, don't want to miss anything impulses.

But seriously. LEAVE. THE FUCKING. HINTERLANDS.

The Hinterlands is meant as a starting area. Honestly, it has the most boring quests in the game and is probably the most boring area. You're a fucking Inquisitor, you shouldn't be too overly concerned with a farmer's missing druffalo.

Do some stuff, gain some power, then go to the war table and use that power to unlock the next stuff.

"But wait! I'm going to miss stuff if I advance the story." No, you won't. All of the areas remain unlocked and you can go back and do everything. Even after you finish the main story.

Actually, you are going to miss stuff if you STAY in the Hinterlands. In the sense that you are going to level up killing low-level bandits and then be overleveled for the story content and areas that are actually cool.

It's a bit of a dumb design that this can happen but they're right, the game gets waaaay better when you leave. You only need to build up 4 "power" to leave.

The guys a troll. But I'd rather live in a world that has trolls than govts that bow to corporate revenge schemes and use shady, if not outright illegal methods to take down people way outside of their jurisdiction with little in the way of actual justice.

Why stop there with useless gadget designs, let's expand it. Smart ear rings, smart bracelets, even smart cock rings. Think of the possibilities!

Ditto. I'm sure a lot of people find them invaluable but they don't offer anything beneficial to my life. But then I'm in that age range where I understand and appreciate tech, but I grew up when it was just a tool and not a social thing so I'm sure I'm stuck in my ways too. Damn teenagers! Normally I'd be impressed with the speed they're delivering patches. But combined with the state the game was shipped in it's obvious they knew it was a mess and had these updates well into the pipeline already. Rather than hold off a couple weeks until these were integrated someone there decided to ship the turd to customers anyways. Bad Ubi! Bad dog!

After the story broke earlier this year (last year?) about the top tech companies conspiring together to keep employee wages down it's damn obvious that's all they're really talking about.

Top spy says to not worry that he's spying on you. Like he's expected to say something else?

Threadnaught III: The Reckoning

Creston wrote on Nov 21, 2014, 17:43:
If FD genuinely got like 60 million bucks in investor funds, why make such a big deal out of this? Presumably only 10% or so of people wanted a refund, which means you'd be out of ~ 200K.

And if it's only 0.1% of users like a few posters believe then the answer is stupidly obvious. After Ubi, EA and Microsoft (among others) all got publicly hammered for this kind of thing there's no excuse for not seeing this coming.

Maybe someone needs to explain to Laidlaw what level scaling actually means, because I don't think he quite gets it.

Oh no he understood. As you increase in level the dragons have more scales. PC gaming ftw!

This sounds like much more worry about online DRM than it is about technical feasibility.

It does seem odd that there's all this work supposedly being done on the server that would be too time consuming for them to move to the desktop on a forked offline version of the client, yet only a tiny mount of data is actually being transmitted and received during solo mode. Too early to declare SimCity style shenanigans on that though imo.
