Weirdly enough that graphics enhancement mod is also getting reports that it's fixing stuttering and improving performance for people. Makes you wonder wtf Ubi was doing.

Do you not work on a porn pirate ship, like jdreyer does? :D

Do I dare ask how the poop deck functions in this context?

Personally I think Microsoft has made a fantastic contribution to PC gaming this year. By killing GFWL.

Yeah, I really feel that VR is probably the biggest revolution in PC gaming since the invention of accelerated graphics. In the same way that accelerated graphics brought FPS games to the forefront while relegating the adventure and turn-based strategy genres (among others) to the back burner, it will cause a renaissance in sim, sim-lite, driving, and horror games.

Horror especially. Don't remember if it was linked to here but Joystiq did a an Oculus enabled preview of Alien Isolation and apparently it made the guy scream like a little girl. I remember reading about the audience reactions from the first movie. Since then we've become desensitized to a lot of that stuff and I think VR is a good way to reverse that.

I too grew to enjoy DS9. TNG still holds a special place but DS9 had so many great characters and actors and the several season long realistic war really drew me in.

Also I like the pew pew and it had some of the best fleet battles ever put to screen.

You're gonna play E:D with a ship's wheel?!

Captains wheel style controller, Oculus Rift and a game like Black Flag. I think I'd like to try that.

Not to be too cynical, but the points about how odd this is could be considered compatible with the fact that her "rescue" was caught by the cameras of a reality TV show.

I can almost hear the dramatic music and narration already.

Well she almost had that Darwin award. Hiking alone, on terrain she felt uncomfortable on, while yammering away on her cell about said terrain. And then to find out that the fall she couldn't stop talking about resulted in some minor scrapes that required taxpayer funded state troopers to rescue her.

He explained it in the video. In the old 2D games, particularly the first, you could go anywhere you wanted right from the start and tackle dungeons in almost any order. When they moved to 3D it became more of a hub world design, usually requiring a particular item or passing a story event to open a path to new areas that had defined entrances and exits. Basically they want the world map in this one to reflect the Zelda 1 design more than the OoT design. Or Skyrim which does a similar thing. And imo it's about damn time, the series was starting to feel like it was on rails.

That's what would make Batman games/movies better: villains that drool all over themselves and are impossible to understand.

Just do what Dark Knight Rises did with Bane and install a drool collector on their mouth. Doesn't help with the voice though.

As someone who loved Battlefront 1 & 2 I'm happy to see progress being made. It's sad Lucasarts is dead but it's crazy that they let a money in the bank series like this skip a gen.

Ehh I'm not seeing enough new stuff to warrant a buy. Obviously the tech is way better, even 4 was held back by last gen consoles. But bigger crowds doesn't equal fun. Also too early to tell if the main character is fun like Ezio or has a personality of a wooden board like the rest of them.

It's the timing of the whole thing. At the time he leaked the information the people were outraged. They had a bad guy (US government) and the good guy (Snowden). Classic David v. Goliath scenario. His message was out already, so him being further silenced is completely irrelevant. He was a hero, but, and this is my point, he 1) RAN, and 2) to Russia, all but destroying his capability to be the symbol that could help to change government policy. He's not a coward for having the balls to step up. He's a coward for running to freaking Russia, of all damn places. It wrecks his credibility and makes his sacrifice meaningless.

If he was in US hands he would be put on display and publicly broken. Every character flaw would be on primetime news. There's one thing the drooling masses pay attention to more than a hero and it's a villain and the Government knows this very well. If they controlled him that's exactly what they would turn him in to. The comparisons to what Mandela went through don't apply anymore, the media age has changed things too much.

If he stayed they would have turned it into a show trial that would flood the airwaves with his daily minutia. "Today Snowden ate bread in jail! What does it symbolize? News at 11". His message would have been intentionally drowned out in the noise. By keeping out of their hands and staying (relatively) quiet he didn't give them much to talk about other than the leaks. Honestly the character of the man in this instance is fairly inconsequential to me, even if he was a sniveling coward compared to the scope of what he's revealed it's not even worth discussing.
