I clicked when there were 3000 left. GOG congratulated me. I waited for it to enter my library. Didn't happen.

Too bad

I don't think they are that important. I struggle to remember more than a few I care about over the course of the game, most of those involving the potential death of a companion. They can do those anyway without trying to do insane story branching that ends up gimmicky after they realize they can't accommodate everyone. I would much rather those design resources go into fleshing out game content rather than a billion hours on the whiteboards figuring out all of the choice permutations.

I find that the choices are more than the sum of their parts. It adds "deepness" to the game and the feeling that you really can affect the world and that the story is your story. Dragon Age has always been about that and I think it's one of their pillars.

Indeed. Removing the choices would be one of the more dumb decisions. The mere illusion of choice alone already adds the deepness you speak of -- just not knowing whether something you do will have consequences or not. When you know a game no longer has these consequences, it removes the illusion of choice and you end up just playing the main-quest like you would read a novel. The story can still be awesome, but you're no longer involved.

Easily the GOTY indeed. Last years releases were bad. What other game would deserve the award? Sure some here would beg the differ, and name some weird indie sidescroller that should've gotten the award instead. Those aren't the games I buy a 1500 dollars rig for, though, so fuck that.

Apart from all its flaws -- like all those goddamn fillers! -- to me, the game was a rush. Both graphically and story-wise. As a shield warrior, I loved the combat too. Never used the tactical cam, because that was too horrible to use. For that reason alone I can understand people disagreeing with the GOTY award.

Shitty.... Batman.... Combat...?! To me it was the most revolutionary thing that happened to hand-to-hand combat in games ever!

When a game has quicksave, I often catch myself quicksaving after having quicksaved...

I do hope this game will have better quest descriptions. I had to use Google in W2 to find out I had to make and use shrapnel grenades for those damn nests!

I guess I came on a little strong, but I am a fanboi, and I thought most of you were.....I am not going to cast stones on a studio that has been so pro pc without seeing the product to judge. I have nothing buy faith in them. I am a little dismayed to see the shit slinging so quick.....even with console video, I think it looks amazing. For everyone that says it isn't about the graphics, there is a lot of butthurt about graphics.

Just sayin.....sorry....meds are wearing off....

Couldn't agree more with you on this. Someone points out there hasn't been any PC footage for 8 months (is that even true?) and it turns into a fucking lynch mob in here. I mean, come on! It doesn't take much effort to see that this game is going to be an epic hit, even if the last few months all we've seen is console footage. And also, like xXBatmanXx says, these guys are the only big studio that's extremely pro-PC. Hell, they even released a DRM free patch when the W2 came out without asking their publishers first. Fucking ace.

As for this vid: Awesome. But MY GOD does that Royal Wyvern look horrible!? Seriously, what. The. Fuck!? Those wings! Hilarious! Everything on that creature looks out of proportion. Horribly bad. Just... absolutely obscene.

Nothing I've seen yet gives me any reason to be pessimistic, except that the game looks too good to be true.

Some here do have a lot of doubts even with MORE THAN AN HOUR OF INGAME FOOTAGE online. To me, that's just facepalm stuff. If you have doubts about the graphics after this vid, watch the other 30mins videos ffs!?

Hell yes. Couldn't agree more. This game is solid. Imo not scary at all -- and I scoff at anyone claiming this guy is the master of horror -- but solid and good fun and atmosphere.

From the footage I've seen, it's hard not to be enthusiastic. I like what they've done with the graphics. The backgrounds are really lively.

I loved Oddworld, so I don't think it'll be hard for me to love this remake. This remake, for once, is a good thing.

26. Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor DLC Released Feb 25, 2015, 14:37 Quinn

You're right, when you look at games critically you are doing the same shit every time. The difference with other RPGs is that the context differs with every sidequest. Not with SoM. Look, if every sidequest was as "rich" and diverse in context as those golden icon quests, I wouldn't be complaining.

But 20+ hours of main/sidequests? That's not true, but that is because to me... Those quests you keep repeating albeit in different areas without different context I call fillers. Filling-quests if you will. To me, a sidequest is a quest that isn't part of the main story per se but has a tiny and UNIQUE story of its own. Not "assassinate Uruk chieftain", "kill 60 uruks in one streak" and "shoot 50 uruks in 5 minutes" times 300.

When there are no more stories to tell, a game is burnt out to me.

SMH.... You can't possibly believe that rant applies to this discussion. SoM doesn't have as much content as Skyrim? That's your takeaway from my post? LOL... Not a single person is making an arguement otherwise.

It's called an example, react less and think more.

There is a difference between main quests, side quests... and just wandering around killing random things. What you seem to be considering "random killing" time in Skyrim is not really, they are simply side-quests yuo have stumbled upon without Fisher-Price quest markers. Would you feel better about the length of content in SoM if the Sword/Bow/Dagger quests didn't have map markers, and you had to find them in the game world on your own? Doubtful.

The main+side quests in SoM take ~15-20 hours to play through, not the 5 hours harlock claims. He is very obviously skipping over ALL of the side-quests in SoM if he really thinks it's that short.

Are there more side-quests to do in Sykrim? Yes, of course.
Is that relevant to this discussion of how much content is in SoM? Not really...

In your earlier comment you talk about fucktons of content some wilfully skip because it has no quest marker attached to it. That would work if you talk about Skyrim, but NOT SoM. Why not? Because there's NO content except for the places with markers attached to it. None at all. That:s why I jumped on you bringing Skyrim into the discussion with Harlock -- it obviously doesn't work.

Like Harlock I don't agree there was enough content, be it marked or not. Beside the amount of content, the amount of content was also always the same: go from point A to B and kill shit by bow (ranged), sword (melee) or dagger (stealth). *yawn* After 10 times.

I think you simply don't understand how to play sandbox games.

Skyrim can be beaten in an hour. GTA5 can be beaten in 6 hours. The main goal of these games is to play and explore them though, not simply rush to the end with the least effort possible.

A normal person would spend dozens if not hundreds of hours playing and beating these games... even though there is merely "xyz hours worth of story content". Shadow of Mordor is basically no different. You are willfully and purposely skipping over fucktons of content simply because it doesn't have a quest marker attached to it.

You can't possibly bring Skyrim into your argument. "Fucktons of content"?! Have you played SoM?! Honestly, you cannot have if you say stuff like that.

Compared to Skyrim, I can say with utmost confidence that there's NO FUCKING SHIT to do in SoM outside of the quests. Outside of quests you can collect some shit. If you're a "skilled" player you maybe die 3 or 4 times in total, so you have your lukewarm army raised in 2 hours.

In Skyrim you run into a cave and meet a bunch of sect psychos you have to kill and stuff like that. You don't have that in SoM either. It's just dirst and grass and hills and an occasional ruin, and on all that, they've dropped Uruks.

Again: Outside of the quests there is NO. SHIT. TO. DO. UNLESS you like killing Uruks for 10s of hours and are into collecting collectibles.

PS: There's no gear to find either. Whoop! Whoop!

There is no rational reason to preorder a game, like ever. It's not rational. I will admit that Ive done it on ocasion, but it was never a rational choice.

As I said before, there's absolutely no rational argument against this statement. The only one even close is "But I like the preorder bonus!", but that's only for people who have no idea how much time and money is put in the efforts of balancing a game properly nor give a shit about balance anyway. Because that pre-order bonus as good as always takes that balance and rapes it so hard there's nothing recognizable left of it afterward.

Jesus how comes that everytime Rockstar announce anything PC related, they sound like they have a sarcastic smirk on their face?

Copy-pasting an apology, too... Fucking hell.

PS: Let me correct nin as someone who isn't even waiting for the game: It ain't funny. These last-second delays are a fucking joke and it should raise many eyebrows to their management and how this could be a sign to an optimization clusterfuck once again.

What has Turtle Rock done for Evolve?

[cannot progress question]

What has TR done for Evolve. Hmmm. They... birthed it? Let them create 10.000 cosmetic DLCs and all price them a 100 dollars a piece for all I care. I once put one of those dumb steam cards on the steam marketplace for 10 dollars hoping some no-lifer who somehow gives a shit about those things would blindly and accidentally buy it. Nobody seemed to care I did, because those who wanted the card weren't dumb enough to buy it and then there are the millions of steam users who don't give a fuck about the cards at all anyway.

I can give y'all a solid fact: Myself (steam name Vince), my cousin (steam name Yuu) and my friend (steam name Royaldeath) have been and still are enjoying the hell out of Evolve. That's at least 33 hours into the game and counting. Well worth the money you'd pay for any game. It's a solid experience and if both the soldiers and the monster are veteran players, you are in for intense matches that make the neighbors go "STFU!".

So, people.. go ahead and bitch the fuck along. Personally, I'm tired as fuck that people here can bitch about games they haven't even played.

"At least I didn't buy Evolve." -nin

Sod off.

Got a GTX 680. Still waiting for the next AMD VS nVidia war I hope to break out soon. I like the price/quality effect these have.

So far nVidia owns the market, so buying an N card now doesn't feel like the wise thing to do.

The GTX 680 still does his job. Trying to be patient.
