Oh how I loved seeing the Sierra logo whenever my cousin used to load up the classics back on DOS in the 90s. Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest, Police Quest, Gabriel Knight. Ahh good memories.

me too!! Sierra logo was a part of my childhood... *sniff*

Haha, a big part of my childhood too.

One of the first games I bought with my own money was a Quest for Glory game. I remember going to the gameshop with my parents to buy the game, afterward going for a bite at the McDonalds with them (which was special in and of itself). I couldn't stop holding the QfG box, staring at the screenshots as I took a bite from my hamburger or fries and rereading every text I could find over and over.
I think I just turned 20 back then.
Just kidding, I was around 9 years old.

*sigh* Good times.

This news is the most heartwarming news I've read in a long time.

That's fair, you're right he did a lot of fantastic things in his career and it shouldn't be defined by the one mistake he made. ME3 was a pretty good game anyway despite the ending.

True, but it was exactly the ending that destroyed all the beauty of the entire ME franchise like some monstrous solar flare. It was a ridiculous form of self-absorbed arrogance (that drooped from his very face to begin with -- I was wondering when it would bleed into a Bioware game to catastrophic results) that made it possible for almost that single man to piss off almost the entire fanbase.

I'm glad he's out. I know it's a lynch mob mentality but with such a dumb fuckup, all sympathy for the man died in a fire.

I'd argue that this game has the best atmosphere any game has ever achieved. It sounds crazy, but after I was done playing Sleeping Dogs, I felt like I had been to Hong Kong. Absolutely amazing achievement and I keep applauding them for it every time I'm reminded of it.

I had a great time playing this game. The plot keeps you interested to the very end -- although I did feel the end was rather sudden, but maybe that's because I couldn't get enough of it. Gameplay felt a bit clunky at first but grew on me rather quickly, also the vehicle handling.

I'm not sure for how much they're gonna sell it. I hope the people that own the original will get a big discount.

I bought the game for 25 euros on Steam. About a day later, it went don't to 10 euros if not less. The knifewound luckily healed quickly because I had such an amazing time with the game anyway.

Who else is looking forward to this remake?

I noticed it's already released for PS4. Somehow the PC release is scheduled at... TBA.

I watched some gameplay vids. Took me right back to a time when my world was smaller and simpler. Good times.

And this is why I torrent games first. I do not trust reviews* to be independent and honest, demos are like finding hen's teeth and word of mouth isn't trustworthy, either. My criteria is simple; if I play it more than two hours and get enjoyment out of those two hours, I feel that I am morally obligated to purchase the game. Otherwise, I'll never see a continuation of the types of games I like. It's in my best interest to support studios that put out those kinds of games.

*There are exceptions, such as Out of Eight and Space Sim Central

I'm with you on this a 100%. As a matter of fact, thanks to piracy I'm absolutely certain I've bought more games than I ever would without it!

The write up on Rock Paper Shotgun makes this sound pretty awful. Can't say I'm surprised, Deep Silver seems to be about the quick buck.

Hmm, Risen 3 seems absolutely great! Watch the "back to the roots" trailer and the latest full hour of ENGLISH gameplay on twitch.

Yesterday I quickly watched some gameplay footage of Sacred 3 on youtube. I thought it looked good. I didn't read up on the features of the game and thanks to you guys I now know the game has no loot system. What. The. Fuck?! A dungeon crawler without loot is... unfathomably stupid. I immediately understood the horrid reviews.

Always the same complaining about Origin/Steam/Uplay. Cry me a fucking river. All three DRMs can run in the background for all I care. My system doesn't slow down because of it. Does it slow yours? If so, maybe less porn. Those sites are shady. Run a virus scan.

Once Origin/Steam/Uplay is started up, which takes 5 seconds if not less (wait, not for you? Again, scan your system and start appreciating your wife more) it's happy gaming. You even get achievements, rewards (Uplay) and a nice sense of building a collection.

EA is giving away games for free. Shut up.

Got some better wifi connection here on vacation, managed to watch the video again on higher resolution. It's not as horrible as I originally thought. Still horrified by the tactical view, and because this indeed seems to be console footage I hope the PC tactical view will be less abominal.

This can be a good mix between DA:O's combat (which, admittedly, was a tad too slow) and DA2 (which was.. well, just crap but with more responsiveness to player input).

Still not convinced at all, even after watching in 720p.

My big problem has very little to do with ESO -- which I consider the best MMORPG since WoW. My problem is that any good singleplayer game is always better than any good multiplayer game. The reason I stopped playing ESO was because of the fact that great singleplayer games came out after the first month and keep coming out.

Once we're having a singleplayer draught again, I can't wait to start up ESO.

10. Re: Dragon Age: Inquisition Trailer Jul 30, 2014, 07:15 Quinn

The earlier trailer finally got me excited. Finally. I saw the gameplay merging into cutscene merging into dialogue options, which I simply worshipped in the ME games, and I was damn near convinced I'd buy the game at release.

Now I see this shit again. All the flashy shit remind me of MMOs, which I definitely don't want to be reminder of when playing a singleplayer game. And what's with the tactical view, really?! When I move my mouse, I don't expect the entire world to move instead of my cursor. What crazy dude decided to make the cursor some sort of unmovable centerpiece while we drag the camera around like we're in a freaking hovercraft!?

From convinced to not convinced. They'd best start showing some very, very impressive story-trailers because every time I watch DA3's combat system in action, I damn near throw up in my mouth.

Rogues suck, huh? There's only one character in my group that can kill an enemy during his first turn and he's also always the first character to move when combat starts. That character is a rogue. He has crazy lots of AP and AP regen, does crazy amount of backstab damage and can stun, knockdown, charm, blind and weaken.

Personally I feel ripped off buying Divinity: Original Sin. I just do not see what people are raving about. Even the kids thought it was hokie. Funny thing is I do like rpg games too.

Trying to compare this game to Baldur's gate series is a travesty, those games, old as they are, were much better than this game.

Eh, I'll give that a 2/10...not much effort.

Is that about the game or his verdict on the game? Being a man of few words really isn't as cool as some here make you believe it is.

If you mean the first, then I think you haven't even played it for obvious reasons other than that the game is in no way a 2/10. If it's the latter, which I presume it is, then I tend to agree with you.

Ozmodan, it takes a while to get into the game. Grab the quest in the first settlement and get the hell out of there and kill some baddies while heading toward the lighthouse in the west. You'll finish many of said quests out there, get new ones and get a good feel of the game. The game will most probably have you bound to it soon -- just give it a chance to do so.

based on the production designs, i wouldn't hold my breath for anything revolutionary. looks like they're just catering to the peter jackson crowd, trying to scratch their adventure itch. which bugs the shit out of me cuz i hated his art designs for the films. still, if it's just assassin's creed: middle-earth, it'll be worth my money.

You hated his art design for the films!? You're the first person I've heard that feels that way. Blasphemy! Before you, I almost started to believe it was a solid fact the art design was just perfect

As for the game... I love the fact that it looks like the films. The orcs look disgusting and terrifying as they should. The protagonist looks nice and tough. Having a hard time imagining this game to be truly open world, though. And damn.. the animations.. especially when he walks over those ropes and assassinates from above. AC all over it. Me no like.

DayZ is the current meme, like Minecraft was. It's the in thing to buy atm.

I don't think you understand what a meme is. Minecraft is still super popular, btw. Nothing past tense about it. They've sold about 54 million copies thus far and are still going strong. If Minecraft were available on Steam, it would probably be the top seller.

Sigh, why am I the only person around here who understands sociological concepts like what a meme is?

A meme (/ˈmiːm/ meem)[1] is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture."[2] A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate, and respond to selective pressures.[3]

Does that help clarify it for you? Allow me to simplify. Little Johnny here's of a 'kewl' product or service that's getting popular. And like most of societies mouth breathers Little Johnny lacks the self-esteem to buck trends. So rather than risk social isolation he jumps on the bandwagon. Now Little Johnny is part of the "in-crowd", and his other little pea-brain pals have to join in or they risk being ostracized as well. See how that works?

The definition in the first paragraph doesn't match the definition in the second. The second describes a fad while the first is so broad that it can be applied to just about anything popular. When people speak of "meme" in a modern context, they are specifically referring to things like doge or ceiling cat or bucket walrus. While such memes do tend to be short-lived and could therefore be called fads, "fad" and "meme" are not necessarily synonymous.

The truth is that you simply dislike DayZ and don't understand its popularity and thus you feel obligated to dismiss its success as hollow and undeserved. It's a means of self-validation and lets you feel like your opinion is correct even if it conflicts with the opinions of the majority.

Can't believe you tried to run from your fuck-up with a cheap "The truth is ...", lol. Cutter was using the phrase correctly and you were very wrong faulting him for it.

As for Divinity being on #1 again... that's just great to see! Loving the game so much. On vacation in Italy atm, but I'd lie if I said I didn't miss my champions!

ESO in the list too, huh? Glad to see. There's allot of time and passion put into this game. You'll know if you'd tried it.
