Ok I actually laughed out loud xP

Looking forward to this game! There's enough gameplay trailers, btw! People and even the developers compare this game with Dark Souls. "WRONG!" I say! I've looked at the gameplay trailers and this game is basically the spiritual successor of Severance - Blade of Darkness!
But I've already said that

Holy crap, I completely forgot about that game Severance - Blade of Darkness. Does that show how old we are if we know about it? lol

That was one of my favorite "pirated" games back then, lol. I don't do that stuff anymore though! I'm completely clean!

Ah Severance, I do remember it for it's limb chopping gore goodness, and it did have some slick graphics for it's time. Controls sucked, but most 3rd person games had crappy controls back then. I remember thinking the game was a tougher version of Rune. Ah, the good ole days.

28 years old here And arrrgh you pirated it? That hurts, because this fanboy here (who even got his nickanme "Vinnie the Great" in the special thanks part of the credits!) never forgets the bad news of Rebelact going bankrupt right after their first, fucking epic game That's on you, man! That's on you!

Die By The Sword, haha.. I tried it back in the day but I was either way too young or the controls were way too crappy. That mouse-to-sword thing just didn't work and those evil swines had me for breakfast!

Nope. That would add tons of complications that require tons of time and money that would inevitably make the entire singleplayer experience suffer horribly. So be glad the normal game does not feature co-op.

I have never shared this opinion and making games is hard and EA are big boys. In time the large open world RPG's will start offering Co-op play. As always an option and should be nothing different from the playing SP, just now you have friends. Party pooper.

In an ideal world, of course I'd prefer that idea above singleplayer-only. But this isn't the ideal world. Adding co-op will always cost money and time, and since the development of every game has a set budget, logic states the true *SINGLE*player will suffer -- it wouldn't be as good as it could have been without co-op.

Name any "singleplayer" game with a co-op ability within the singleplayer campaign, and I guarantee you the true singleplayer experience has suffered from it. I'll even try to give examples where and why.

But will we have Inquisition assets that only count at 50% unless we play multiplayer?? Because everyone just LOVED that part of it in ME3!

They've basically been "no it's single player, no it's single player, no it's single player," for all this time, then they delay it an extra 6 weeks and now, tadaaaa, coop multiplayer.

Marketoid checkbox... TICKED!

But all kidding aside, I actually really enjoyed the ME3 multiplayer and spent probably several hundred hours in it, so if this is as good or better, it'll be a welcome addition. I just can't help shake the feeling that it's been added only recently and will suffer because of it. Though the video looks pretty darn good.

^This. As if plucked from my mind. It's a strangely late announcement for a feature like this.

I picked it up for 10 bucks. I LOVED Season 1 and can't wait to dive in to Season 2. On a side note, I've heard people say "Wolf Among Us" is even better.

Episode 1 of TWAU gives that impression. It gets worse though. Now I don't even care enough to play the last episode! TWD 2 is better imo!

Same here! What an absolutely fantastic game this was. It was (kinda?) open world, and gave the player a certain level of freedom that was revolutionary. Once you got the improved jetpack...! That shit was crazy, crazy awesome!

I remember the pricing like it was yesterday, and that screenshot isn't representative. A 100 guilders were most games back then, which is now 45,- and not a penny more. Console games were f120,- which is 55,-.

Not. A. Single. Game is worth 49,50 for me. Not one. And that's coming from a "true gamer". It's a ridiculous overpricing of a product and one that didn't even lower when publisher's costs drastically lowered due to the digitalization. Hell, most games don't even have hardcopies for sale anymore as far as I know!

www.kinguin.net

I paid 33,- bucks for Risen 3. It's very much worth that. As I said: 40+ hours into it and still enjoying it a fuckload. Just got to chapter 3 and it's not hinting to end yet!

Cool thanks for the comment on it. So do you suggest we play it on easy to avoid the game's combat? I'm waiting for it to be half price.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the combat. I play it on Hard.

What's wrong with the combat is that it is ridiculously easy even on Hard. There is no challenge and the game is a snorefest because of it.

I've been playing it for 40+ hours by now, still smiling contently as I see my hero bash the last enemy's head in and pushing him off a cliff. Shit like that happens, because the models still answer to the physics engine even during finishers. It's hilarious and awesome.

Hilarious is not exactly the word I would use. No. It's retarded and unrealistic when a 800 pound gorilla goes flying off a cliff as if it was a feather and it sucks that sometimes you can't get to the loot when enemies fall to places you can't reach.

I agree that combat is too easy. It's too easy for me, too. However, enough people think it's too hard. It's all subjective. In fact, apart from the ridiculously flawed Dark Souls combat, every open world RPG's combat is too easy for me. Easy combat can still be fun combat. I think Risen 3's combat is great fun!

As for your physics issue: who gives a fuck? Every open world RPG with a proper physics engine (ie Skyrim) has this issue

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the combat. I play it on Hard. This time, the only way enemies can "stunlock" you is when you don't drop into defense after an enemy breaks through your attacks -- which hardly happens if you time your heavy attacks right. For example, an enemy dodges your attack (you should drop into defense right then actually) and hits you before you can finish your next move... It takes too long to recover from the blow so instead you parry or dodge the enemy's next attack(s) before you see an opening again, which is mostly after a few-hits combo the enemy executes. If you have Reposte and time your parry right after dropping into defense, your counter-attack gives you the upperhand again immediately.

I've been playing it for 40+ hours by now, still smiling contently as I see my hero bash the last enemy's head in and pushing him off a cliff. Shit like that happens, because the models still answer to the physics engine even during finishers. It's hilarious and awesome.

Most ppl who give it an honest chance would see the passion the devs put into that game. 500+ quests, insane environmental level of detail, tons of places to explore. Sadly this will be one of those games that will get it's fame when people actually go play it, instead of just trusting the bitter words of a critic, which is when the game hits the bargain bin. Kinda like Sleeping Dogs, come to think.

A ton more entertaining I'm sure, because doing the other play was simply a soulsucking, tedious experience.

Tens of millions of Steam users? It really isn't that popular of a game.

I don't know why, it's the best stealth/action game since Thief 2 and probably the best game in a year full of great games. Any fans of the genre who haven't played it are really.. really missing out.

Hate the game, truly. It's just not fun at! It had the graphics of the Wolfenstein before the last one, was horribly easy and choosing the "good" path was skipping out on all the skills that would've made the experience at least a bit interesting.

Why the hell would Microsoft antagonize itself like this for such a temporary exclusivity deal. People now just think "Go fuck yourself" while waiting for the release on their platform. At least otherwise they would have though "Go fuck yourself" while getting themselves an Xbone. Maybe.

So dumb.

Because Microsoft does not make games for consumers... Microsoft is a gigantic profit driven company, they don't give a fuck about you or anyone else. They looked at the calculated ROI and saw it's a profit (console sales + % of game sales), so they did it.

The real question you should be asking is why Square Enix did it, because they decided to go with it. So in reality, Square Enix can fuck off more than MS

I just heard the echo of the brainfart I made on Aug 13, 2014, 10:39. Sweatdrop You're right, the entire comment should've been aimed at Square Enix for it to make proper sense. Cheers

You're the one trying way too hard to defend this because you can't handle the fact that you might like a game that others don't like, talk about panties in a twist

It's that you literally added nothing to the discussion with the "mediocre" comment. For a guy who has played the game and built himself a valid verdict, the comment was mediocre at best. I therefore didn't have the impression you played the game yourself. That is all.

Seasons passes are up for passing

I know, right? Remember when a game was just a standalone game with no expectation of expansion pack, unless it sold really, really well? Now a game is an excuse to milk as much cash as possible from people. Season passes are just automatic now, regardless of whether it makes sense, is desired by consumers, etc. etc.

All season passes do to me nowadays is make me not want to buy the game at all... I wait until it's on sale with "all content"... for a fifth of the price.

If I want DLC I buy it on sites where it's cheaper than on steam, but often I don't want em at all Especially games like this that you play once and then you are "done" .... I find season passes for something like that absurd. At least back in the old days expansions usually added to the game from the end, so you could continue on after a game ending to experience more.. but now it's as you say, milking the cows for cash.

BF4 is basically the first time I didn't subscribe to the normal buying ways publishers want, bought game for cheap on GMG with a bunch of credit and voucher(just 30) and ended up buying the DLC I wanted for half of what it costs on Origin.... so I ended up paying less for what I wanted of the game than just what premium alone would have cost...

This exactly. DLC announcements pre-release makes me want to buy a game less. It has the exact opposite effect. Sadly, though, I guess the stats tell them suits otherwise.

And I'm a fucking hypocrite, buying both Island DLCs for Risen 3. The game just can't have enough content for me, though that doesn't make me any less pissed at Deep Silver for keeping content out for DLC purposes. My willpower needs exp -_-
