News Comments > Diablo III Double XP Weekend
13. Re: Diablo III Double XP Weekend Mar 21, 2014, 22:50 Quinn

Great bonus! I leveled my first char to 60 on hard! I know its hard for some people here to understand that not everyone has 4 chars at lvl 60 with 400+ paragon levels but -- surprise! -- some people only started playing when the game started to not suck horribly.

Even Blizzard "tells" us this bonus is good to up the paragon levels but isn't it better to level up any character you're interested in to 60 first? The best legendaries will be replaced with better normal rare drops in RoS and paragon levels only start making a real difference after you've reached a pretty hardcore paragon level. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hated the game at release. Bought the expansion today. Great improvements since the initial release.

Blizzard oh Blizzard, how do you do it...

I hated D3 when it first came out. Felt like I took my 50 bucks at lit it on fire. But now there's Loot 2.0 and an expansion is coming out with a proper ominous mood that the title deserves. And damn, a Paladin class. Finally they're done trying to do some other weird ass class. If only they changed that fragile voodoo grandpa into a proper Necromancer.

Still not sure if I'm gonna pay 27 euros for RoS. I've enjoyed hours of leveling my barb to 60 the last few days but I wouldn't be surprised if one day very soon the game suddenly feels bled dry to me...

Sometimes games freeze for 4 seconds and then it's a CTD with the message my driver crashed. What helps for me is opening my MSI Overdrive (overclock tool) and so very slightly underclock my card that's overclocked by default. Fucking annoying. Didn't pay for that shit but what the hell...

It's beyond me that South Park gets such favorable reviews. Loving the show, hating the game here. The game is devoid of story, no true decision-making or dialogue options, boring combat (coming from a guy who LOVES turn-based combat) and no innovation anywhere.

I know it's South Park, but it's also trying to be an RPG. It fails terribly at the latter, and isnt really that succesful at the first either. The shows make me laugh, the game makes me yawn. Wow, another fart-joke. Just... wow.

Heh, I know most religious types are pretty decent people but I just look at the problems its caused and continues to do so. It really is man's greatest calamity.

That I don't disagree with at all. Many of the greatest atrocities of humankind were perpetrated under the guise of being "the will of God". That said, I don't presume to tell anyone where they should seek their personal fulfillment from. Be it from the Bible, art, philathropy, goat porn, whatever... whatever makes you happy.

The problem here is the "personal" part, Prez. Once you actually truly believe the dogmatic shite, keeping it personal is a sin in and of itself. You spread the word and impose your nonsense belief on others or they'll burn in hell. The irony here is that the bible actually states that if you've never ever heard about "the one truth" at all because you lived in a cave or on the northpole, you'll enter heaven anyway when you've lived a good life. It's once you've been told the one truth and rejected it that you're in deep shit.

Hilarious. Cutter was right in his comment. Yes it's provoking but who gives a shit. When I tell you I believe there's an invisible hamster on my shoulder and I actualy believe it... you shouldn't "respect" it. You should fucking ridicule it. Hard.

The HDD is of course a bottleneck for those old PC's just as much as it is for newer ones... SSD is where it's at. And nobody has an excuse only running 128gb of SSD, when 250 or 500gb are offered for good price nowadays.

Thanks for making buying decisions for me.

Glad to help Maybe you weren't aware, but games are getting bigger.... just saying.

A few years ago I had decided only to have an SSD as a boot-up device aka OS device and not as storage for games. This because I read that SSD's don't handle file deletion and reinstallation well. I want my gaming storage device to be able to handle me deleting games and installing games on basically a daily basis. Has technology improved in these few years or am I expected to buy a new SSD every year?

I'm so uncertain about this! I'm screaming for a demo!

I'm a kinda gamer that looks back at RTCW Enemy Territory and missing it so, so dearly. People in this thread mention this is the first time in a long time a multiplayer FPS impressed them. Why? Is there finally skill needed again during gunfights? Or is it the-first-who-pulls-the-trigger-wins, like all other multiplayer FPS games these days since CS? For the record, most often I'm on top of the end-match statistics in these games, so that's not why I hate them. I hate them because there's no more adrenaline rush when you meet an enemy. It's just pew-pew done. Hate it. Titanfall any different?

Kinda epic nonsense, indeed.

Pretty sure the window mashing is there for technical reasons. It keeps the player busy while the next area loads and allows for variable load times. It's a crappy workaround but not uncommon in UE games (see the automatic doors in ME). I'd rather just have a load screen.

There's loading screen after mashing.

There's not. There's the animation you get while mashing, but that quickly faded to black to make way for the loading screen. There's never a loading screen after mashing. Maybe on a very slow rig, but I wouldn't know about that.

I enjoy the show but this game is absolute... absolute crap. The jokes are cheap as fuck, or farts.. I should say. Neither is there any motivation to continue in the story, because -- lol -- there's none to speak of. I understand it's fucking South Park but come on, it's an RPG and RPG's should have a goddamn story. Period. And mu god is the game just utterly fucking boring in general.

Loving the show, hating the game. People who think this is worth a buy are the people who laugh their ass off at every fart joke. Every time.

You see the problem is you are to stupid to figure out what it actually means, and it actually works great. Again, exactly like they said. Multiple accounts, one house, one machine. duh. Family share.

You make it so easy to add you to the filter.

That's it with this guy's attitude. I'm sure he has around 80 ppl in his "tard list" by now and he'll be literally my first blacklisted guy ever. He has exactly that stereotype gamer attitude that make the rest of us look bad. Bye bye now batty boy.

*sigh* Screw it, can't be arsed to filter him. Besides, there's really no effort to ignoring a 15-year old. Maybe 16. Uncertain.

To be fair though the very first gameplay footage they've showed off iirc they confirmed it was running on a high end PC.
The other gameplay footage they've compared it to in the very first gif that was posted in this thread was confirmed to be from the 360 version of the game.

Here are the 2 trailers I am talking about:
low detail xbox 360 footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIK8Mm1-Jdg

(possibly) pc footage:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgRynhNnGTE

Here is a comparison one between PC/PS4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjUaA5lDeDY

Dubious, though. If the PC trailer looks that much more amazing, as is what you presume, then why on earth don't they release trailers with PC footage?! Don't tell me it's because that would be misrepresenting because 1. they never give a shit if it is and 2. it's not, if you plan to play the PC version.

A mage shooting fireballs has been done a thousand times before as well. You can of course be a hipster and go with a mage kicking magic toothbrushes into people's faces. It's definitely something new.

Ruined forts on mountains. Boooring!

Floating islands. YAWN!

Swords on fire! A'gahh?!

Dragons!! LMFAO!

I thought maybe the delay might have been to rewrite some of the story/missions and incorporate some of the NSA/PRISM stuff after the whole Snowden leak.

But now I'm a bit worried after seeing those GIFs. If they are accurate then... Fuck

Yeah I'm sure they delayed the game to revert the game to a 2004 graphics level for some inexplicable reason and that single out of context GIF going around is representative of the game on next gen and PC.

Yeah of course you can ignore the obvious scare in the comparisons. I'm not saying the game will suck or anything, but the comparisons are legit. And what "single out of context GIF" are you talking about? There's allot of stuff out there that compares the old and new Watch_Dogs. Did you even check any comparisons? Not seeing the difference?

The difference between the earlier footage and the later stuff is mindblowing to me. It's like their content and all the back-up died in a fire a few months ago and they started from scratch again a few months ago I applaud them for the result, I admit.

How long will this XP bonus last? Crazy busy til the end of next week, but I'm really looking forward to rebooting D3.

Someone said there's no free extra chapter? I was sure I've heard the news some months ago that the vanilla game got an extra chapter for free, and of course I'm not talking Reaper of Souls stuff. Oh well, I'll see.

Often play games where you instantly know the map?

Not sure about you but when playing a game I don't actually know a map until having played it. Remembering more bits of it as I go along...

Smart-ass comments ftw!

Have you played THIEF? I don't know about you but its map is so utterly crap that I learned to rely on my own mindmap, if you will, instead of that utterly useless crap. And that's quite the feat, actually, because of the ridiculous maze that it is.

PS: I realize I've been bitching allot about this game lately. That's because the game can be that much frustrating at points. Let me grant the game that it's art is magnificent. The City, it's a real place, man. It's beautiful in its own special way. More often than not I've just looked around in awe, silently nodding my utmost respect and appreciation to the people who created it. If all those loading moments were gone, more people roamed the streets and if the homes you enter had people in it... It'd be perfect. Sadly, consoles couldn't handle that.

What I also realized last night, is that nostalgia is a limiting thing. Give the old Thief these graphics, and we basically have THIEF. Yes, the level design of the new THIEF is just as good. During every mission I play I'm simply intimidated by the amount of paths to take and amazed by how many layers every mission has. What I'm saying is that I think it's nostalgia that makes many of us believe the older Thiefs were that much better in every way. They weren't. They were shockingly similar. Obviously that just isn't enough anymore.

Also, if you follow the quests from that automatom questgiver, know that you won't get rewarded for it. At all. No talking automaton praising the Builder or the Keeper. Nothing. Just a "thank you" from that tard. Gah.
