Now, I have connections and I can go! Argh, why so late? Argh. I say if you can go and it costs less < $200-$300 in travel/hotel costs to go then go. If you spend like $500+ or more, or are busy with other obligations at that time, then it's not worth it imo, esp. since you said don't game anymore. Everything is online now, all the videos/interviews and stuff so you may even have a better experience online for E3. Actually, I live in L.A. area so it is not far. From what I read, it is free to register. Just need to prove that I am in the industry. My colleagues went in the past, and I didn't even know we could do that (didn't think they would accept employer's type of work for gaming). Haha.
Yeah, I wished I knew about this trick like over a decade ago when I was a hardcore computer gamer and started working in the same company! Argh. If you live near there then go!! definitely go... even for just 1 day out of the 3 days. if it's free then best to go to 1 or 2 of the days, since you'd get too exhausted and tired and probably not worth it to go to all of the days. |

Creston Well $500+tax was how much I paid for the Xbox 360 on launch day, so that's a reasonable price.
But running Windows 8 OS is discomforting... |

My thoughts exactly! they sure don't care about the PC version... they would even put 10 times more effort into the Wii U version, just because it's a console. they forgot that their roots for Call of Duty was first a PC exclusive game! they didn't update or patch BO2 in a while, and were reluctant to put in a fov slider. and you can bet they won't bother with dedicated servers for the new Call of Duty Ghosts game. |

A tragedy for both woman and lion. Especially the lion. It behaved like the predator it is.
Horrible to hear that the lion had to die... only in the U.S. they allow it, to kill animals like this. |

I go back to play the old Resident Evil 2 on PC and I'm surprised how it still holds up today. really great game. |

I have a close friend who used to work for Eidos Montreal but he quit due to bad management and corporate politics. Their Thief game was rebooted already a number of times due to quality issues (the game/prototype did suck), and I mentioned it in Blues News comments even a couple years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be another situation like Duke Nukem Forever, which would be quite a shame for the Thief series really. Publisher SquareEnix has all the right to be unhappy and concerned. Is this the same team which made Deus Ex HR? I don't know but I could ask. I'd say probably not, because they were working on it at the same time they were doing Dues Ex HR so likely they're different teams working on them separately. |

Nintendo is almost out of the game... the Wii U really could be their last console, and they might just exit this industry and get into the pachinko business or something.
If Microsoft's next console is a cloud based console that's online only, then consider me uninterested. Thin clients should be on their way out. |

Prez wrote on Apr 22, 2013, 18:06: It seems a little unfair to judge Gearbox on how Aliens and DNF turned out. Both were extremely troubled products that had a sordid history before Gearbox even touched them. My only real concern with them acquiring the Homeworld IP is that they have no experience making RTS's , though I imagine they can easily hire some talent to fill that gap. I certainly hope they wouldn't try making a Homeworld-based FPS.
I'll admit Gearbox was not on my wishlist for companies I was hoping would acquire the property, but as someone who loved the Borderlands series more than America and apple pie I am willing to give them a chance here. After all, a lot of the problems that Borderlands and its sequel had were inherent to being designed to run on consoles, and most likely any new Homeworld RTS would be designed PC first. Gearbox is a console developer... and I am willing to bet you a million dollars the next Homeworld game's primary platform will be next-gen consoles (or maybe even current gen 360/PS3 if they're really that stupid!) ", with the intent of making them accessible on today's leading digital platforms." <-- see that right there in the press release?
Mad Max RW wrote on Apr 22, 2013, 17:35: Homeworld: Colonial Marines Forever We already know it's going to be a shooter! Everything you know about Homeworld is only in the name. It will be like XCOM, and change the name to The Bureau, or some shit like that. History repeating itself. They already started a Homeworld forum on Gearbox already where people can bitch and complain, how lovely. |

To be fair, the Brothers in Arms games were pretty good. But that was a long time ago. Oh yeah, World War 2 shooters... those may have been good but really, did we need more WW2 shooters? Borderlands isn't even very original tbh. it takes elements from all kinds of different games and puts it into one. These Gearbox guys can't seem to do a fresh, new original IP... and even with the existing IPs or franchises they work with, they screw those up too.

I really enjoyed their half life expansion packs. ... HL expansions?? LOL! When was that, a decade ago? Whoever worked on that is probably long gone so those are irrelevant now. I'm starting to believe what an earlier commenter said, that they're one of the most "corporate" game companies in the industry now, and Aliens: CM is a clear indicator of that. |

| First they get rights to do DNF, then Aliens... now Homeworld? It seems Gearbox sure does love to piss off gamers lately. Given their track record with acquired IPs, I have little hopes that anything good will come out of this unfortunately. |
