I think a good analogy would be an all electric car that makes no noise hits someone from behind and the car manufacturer is not held responsible.

That's a terrible analogy, but funny to imagine.

It's a real problem for blind pedestrians. Enough so that car manufacturers have added noise to hybrids and electrics to ensure that they can be heard.
To be honest it's a concern for those of us who can hear to. The amount of times a car has crept up behind me in a car park. They are too damn quiet these days, growing up in the 90's you could hear cars coming blocks away. If you lived in a small town you could tell who was coming too Drivers are always on their fucking phones too.

No computers or chips on / in me thanks. What's the point? Really... I have a phone so I can SMS my partner... that is all, oh and family so I don't have to call them all the time

Why do I need to google, email or whatever when I'm at the shop wondering why I'm not at home on the internet buying the same damn thing for cheaper. "GAH HA!, DOOHH!"

Super excited to be getting Riptide for my Birthday tomorrow! Cake LOVED the first one. If the biggest complaint about Riptide is that it is "more of the same", then sign me up!
"Couldn't hurt to look!"

Happy Birthday for tomorrow.

Got it and love it.. man I can't believe I would nearly have skipped such an Interesting RPG... has a sort of Alpha Protocol vibe in it's rougness, but it seems interesting, combat is decent, and story is very interesting.
I'm waiting for Innocence to pay his debit Devilish

I love the setting more than anything, the story is definitely interesting.

Really? Gamers like it.

And a 8/10 review.

Was actually hoping Monaco would land higher, but that was a good DA price (vs content).

Also, go buy Monaco!

No, buy something worth paying for. [Edit] Seriously, $15 for that indie crap? SHOVELWARE.

Get Mars War Logs

E3 and the like make little sense in the post-print media world IMO. Have something cheap and local, put it on the web for all to enjoy.

Yet LG collapsed. Why? Because they could program good games but didn't have a clue how to run a business. Many simmers remember Flight Unlimited with fondness, too.
There's more to running a developer than making great games. If you make a great game but need to see "100 million copies" to turn a profit, it's still a failure. So LG did.
Not really... as long as you aren't stupid it's not that difficult to run a business.

So if you use 1 million to make a game (cheap game ) you need to make 3 million. 1 million to cover your costs (lets pretend there is no interest) and 2 million for the next project. Then you need to make 6 million. Gamers are "kunty", they won't settle for the same 1 million dollar game the second time round.

It's just that people don't think that way. It's easy to lose focus of that extra money you will need later on.

What happens if your budget of 1 million goes over? You need another half a million. But the game can't go up in price to cover that. You just need more sales, but your projections don't cover that. You're losing money already by going over the development budget. You freak out, you ship the game before it's done, it's half ass, no one buys it, OMG! you have no money... it's all gone, no future projects.

And that is... kinda... not really... how it works lol

If you listen to rich people you'd realise it doesn't pay to be smart, it pays to be a "kunt".

They keep "selling" products before they are done. That's not how you do things.

That's why KickStarter doesn't sit well with me. "We'll make what you want", have some balls and show us what we want. Plus, people don't know what they want half the time

What happened to Digital Extremes? They were the original creators of Unreal, but now they make crap.
Indeed.

Unreal Tournament (original) is still the best fun you can have with bots.

Rockstar, so over rated. They have too many Rockstar weekends and not enough general Take 2 sales.

Take 2 need to pull the finger out and put their OLD games on Steam under the Take 2 Interactive label.

lack of publisher oversight

What's the problem with this one?

They apparently made a game the publisher didn't like...

That either means they're way behind with just smoke and mirrors, or the design isn't actiony enough.

I'll go out on a limb and hypothesize the problem is not that it's not Thiefy enough.

They probably wanted Call of Taffers

I'm not buying into these Star Trek reviews, the things they seem to complain about I don't mind. They seem to all be done with linear cover shooters, some of us aren't

But I've found other games to play at the moment, so, sale it will be!

The mechanics for upgrading skills, weapons and armour are a lot more indepth than what I first thought. I've just battled a mini-boss type creature and got to use the combat system more. There is a tactical menu that you can use to heal, throw bombs, set traps, shoot during combat, you can select the enemy you want to action against on this screen, it slows down time.

... anyone think they hear the moans of an old tired b*tchy bridge troll? no...

Thanks for the impressions, I think based on what you're saying I'm going to pass for now since it sounds like a kitchen sink game without much focus. Also Rage wasn't exactly my favorite game so I'm not sure something like it with weaker gameplay elements will be up my alley.
Don't just take my word for it Watch gameplay footage etc. Plus I only played 92 mins so far, going back now for some more!

Thanks for the first impressions. Can you talk a bit more about the RPG elements and the combat system? The features page makes the game seem like a little of everything and it's kind of difficult to get a feel for its gameplay as a result. Does it play like an action RPG or is it a hybrid like Alpha Protocol?
I played like 30 mins of Alpha Protocol so I'm not sure.

RPG elements. You pick up bits and pieces from flashing garbage and boxes that you can craft into items - actually similar to RAGE. You can experience during combat that you use for Feats and on the skill tree. I guess you get experience for completing mission objectives too. All pretty standard stuff in the tree, combat and health related bits.

You can talk to a limited amount of people. You do have choices but nothing that seems to actually matter and nothing straying from the 3 response formula.

What else... level design is basic but it still looks nice, it has style but just needed more $budget$ love. The animations are shoe string budget.

Combat: can't say at this stage. It's getting better as time goes on, you can do a fair bit by the looks of it, it's just done basic. You can upgrade weapons (definitely) and armour (by the looks of it). Dodge, block, stun, kick attacks...

It looks like they tried a lot with a VERY small budget. I'm guessing you might love the intention or hate the execution. Know what I mean?

I haven't played a lot of RPG games. Two Worlds, Skyrim, RAGE?, Arcania, Dark Souls and others. If you checked out Underrail, I'd call it a mix of RAGE and Underrail if that makes sense.

Played 92 mins of it so far, it's good. Being only $20 it feels like a $20 game but it has it's charm or should I say, Innocence

If you want a Mars game, it is that, but so far the world isn't as interactive or full of life as what I hoped.

I paid $16 from GMG, so... I'm happy enough with it so far.

BTW, DO NOT BUY THIS FOR ANY CHILD it has dark Adult content.
