@theyarecomingforyou, you obviously don't play many games at all if you think invisble walls are not part of every day gaming. Every FPS game has at least one collision issue. Just stop exaggerating. |

Where is one invisible wall?
I can respect differences of opinion but not outright denial of basic, well-documented facts. lol, seriously, I can't think of any... has the definition changed since the late 90's or something? All I can think of are the areas blocked by rubble
If you can't even name one...
[Edit] Is this it? If that is the type of thing you guys are talking about, thats fucking pathetic. I mean, seriously lol. |

Where is one invisible wall? Closed doors? sure. Blocked area by rubble, yes? almost every game has some sort of boundary except for the rare exception such as Minecraft.
I explored every area. Went off the dotted line track and was never, once insta-killed. The enemies aren't that tough, even the vehicles while on foot.
And the rest of what you said is just dribble. |

theyarecomingforyou wrote on Feb 9, 2013, 07:42: Then there were the gameplay issues, like a virtual useless autosave implementation, insta-death if you explored freely, terrible AI, invisible walls (they were EVERYWHERE), the terrible vehicle physics, crude inventory system, etc. What are you talking about? You can save any where you want. The auto save feature is fine. insta-death for exploring freely? WHAT? where?
Terrible AI? huh? each clan acts differently. Are you blind?
Invisible walls? Bullshit. There are walls. They are visible. Clearly.
Crude inventory system? What? I'm sorry. WHAT! have you seen other systems like... Skyrims for instance. That's terrible. There is NOTHING wrong with the inventory system in Rage, NOTHING at all.

Oh well, at least they actually did release it, like they promised. 18 months later.
Someone needs to explain to id how the game industry works.
Creston I used to think you were alright, a pretty sane gamer, but you've just been saying stupid shit after stupid shit lately. Did you hit your head or something?
You're just spraying hate everywhere now. Sad |

You'd have to be stupid not to see how this will end. But you aren't stupid, are you? You just said DNF was rushed, who's stupid? |

WyldKat wrote on Feb 7, 2013, 20:43: While it's cool they're remaking a classic, I have to say this pales in comparison to Kerbal Space Program. This makes no mention of actually designing and flying the rockets yourself, or any sort of flight simulation involved as what is a core feature of KSP. KSP will also have the management side of things too before the game is officially launched.
Still I suppose this is cool if you're really into historical management sims. Does Kerbal Space Program actually let you do anything besides build a rocket and launch it? This game sounds like a huge sim that involves building launch facilities, building up scientists, research and tech trees, etc. KSP seems like a one-trick-pony compared to this. It's a really nice pony, granted, but it's a limited pony. Yeah you can do a lot more in KPS now, build a space station and satellites? There is more of a universe to explore. |

Wallshadows wrote on Feb 7, 2013, 21:31: I'm more worried about the voice acting and whether or not what we heard in the last trailer release is what we should expect in the game. If it happens to be the case, I'll likely mute sounds and just have Aliens play in the background even if the scenes don't match up. I would suggest watching this IGN preview, thankfully the voice acting in those trailers isn't in the game.
IGN first level playthrough
I didn't know they had the actual actors from Aliens do the voices for the game, mostly for the multiplayer per-order bonus at gamestop. hopefully just a timed exclusive. That's pretty cool.
They've really bungled the marketing of this game. Had a quick look at the IGN playthrough. The game looks good, great to hear the original actors are in it. The animations aren't that great, my only complaint about that so far. The graphics look good. |

Rattlehead It depends on what you're looking at in that game, the immediate surroundings and periphery often look like dogshit compared to other aspects. It's one of the best looking games for its framerate and an accomplishment that it runs well on console hardware but I certainly wouldn't put it up with Crysis and Far Cry 3 though. Different art styles. You can't compare something stylized to photo realistic. That would be silly. It's like saying "gee minecraft has bad graphics compared to far cry 3", the intention was to never compete in the same art area. Different gameplay.
The gunplay of RAGE is second to NONE. Best gunplay. Ever. The art style, is great. Lots of people love the art style. |

Cutter wrote on Feb 6, 2013, 09:57: Why does Carmack even bother staying in gaming? He clearly doesn't need the dough. And whatever passion he had for it seems to have evaporated long ago. It's more like just doing it because it's routine. He only seems to be stoked about space related stuff so why doesn't he focus on that? Follow his tweets, read his articles, watch his interviews and you may learn something about the man rather than selected snippets and comments by gamers. He is a passionate programmer with an interest in other things. You have other hobbies right? |
