Iirc, Outerlight was bought by Ubisoft which resulted in a collaboration on the Assassin Creed's multiplayer. Once Bloody Good Time came out, Outerlight was down to one employee and Ubisoft closed the studio. Blazing Griffin bought the franchise and started to respark it by offering sales, which has never been done since release (!), and gave 4 extra gift copies to owners of The Ship.

Black Mesa looked and performed much better.

Black Mesa - Source engine developed by a multi-billion dollar corporation, Valve.

Natural Select 2 - Spark engine developed by one guy, Max.

So what you are saying is all true, but give the little guys some slack .

This game is CPU and memory heavy. Try dropping texture quality, disable ambient occlusion, and perhaps disable shadows if you need more FPS.

That said, this game runs a SHIT TON better than early beta stages.

No, I think he was talking about an iPad version.

Wait, now I know. He was referring about the Ooya version. That must be it.

I hope not. Max Payne 3 as an experience for me: I control Max for 20 seconds. I watch a cutscene while the game loads some more. I hammer space/escape frantically after 15 seconds out of impatience, this thing is on an SSD damn it. I finally get control of Max again for 20 seconds, we kill people and I am just getting into when... Cutscene, loading. loading. etc. I go play another game.

So you prefer RAGE during its GTA4 state than Max Payne 3? I never said the engine is flawless on PC, but it has improved quite a bit since GTA4.

]The only plus side is that PCs are now so powerful that if Rockstar messes up the PC version they'd really have to be trying... which I'm still not ruling out.

Max Payne 3, which runs the RAGE engine, shows how well R* and the engine has matured on the PC platform as well as console platform. Now how well this maturity pairs with an open (massive) world game is to be seen.

And yet the technical side was a complete clusterfuck, that brought consoles and PCs to their knees despite the fact the graphics looked like ass.

Typo, I mean the technology as in debuting the RAGE engine in open world format and being the first to show off Euphoria. Obviously R* was not going to use Renderware for GTA4, therefore time had to be invested in new technology leaving less time for gameplay. Now that they have the technology in place and fairly optimized, now R* can focus on gameplay.

Because time is limited and finite for game development, R* put more emphasis on the technology aspect on GTA4 than gameplay. We saw this with the Episodes of Liberty City and RDR. Now that R* has established their RAGE technology and seemingly got it running well as displayed by Max Payne 3 on all platforms, R* now has time to focus on gameplay for the next GTA.

As I have mentioned in another thread...

GTA5 is to GTA:SA as GTA4 is to GTA3.

Miner Wars looks exciting, but it's an MMO, so not for me.

Miner Wars 2081 is not the MMO, that is another project coming after 2081's release.

If GTA4 is to GTA3 and GTA5 is to GTA:SA...we are in for something special. With R* already having GTA4 as a base, they can put time into content in GTA5.

When does the review embargo lift?

I am still skeptical because its published by Bethesda. It comes down to when they lift the review embargo. If its on the day of release, game is a crap. If its a week before of release, game is great.

Bethesda published 4 games last year, of which Brink, Hunted: The Demon Forge, and Rage had on release day embargos. Only Skyrim had its embargo lifted a week earlier. Bethesda knows to hype the shit out of their games.

Sure not all games with release day embargoes are terrible, but Bethesda had a bad track record last year and I am judging them on this.

What a misleading kickstarter. The project is for DG2, though their set goal of $250K does not get you DG2. Why not set the goal to $1mil?

Anyways, $55 from me (for 3 copies).

R* is notoriously known to release bullshots. I am surprised that them didn't clean this images up. Props to them. Pretty sure the game will still look great in motion.

Multiplayer, of which TB didn't check out, is a lot of fun and where the action is at. Plus, he doesn't buy any of these games he reviews, which means he has no personal incentive to peruse it further than the ~25mins he needed for this video.

I believe both consoles have 256 megs of video memory. So 4x larger would be pretty typical for a PC.

360 has 512, PS3 has 256. Either way that's not alot of ram. Still on the fence on this one. I liked the first two but this is obviously no longer a Remedy made game.

360 has 512MB shared between CPU and GPU, where as PS3 has 256MB dedicated for CPU, and another 256MB dedicated for GPU. In short, they have the same amount of memory, though developers has a bit more flexibility with the 360 because they can allocated more of one over the other.
