Please Hi-Rez, release server binaries for true player-owned servers. I don't want to deal with server rentals. My clan/community owns a server located in a major data center.

How long was it for 4 from the teaser trailer to release? Im betting it was more than 6 months.. Funny you mention that. GTA4's 1st trailer came out March '07, and the original announced release date was October '07. However, game was delayed till April '08. |

| Optimistic for an October '12 release. I thought R* loves releasing games on May. My guess is May '13. |

Checking their site out, and noticed...
"The team behind Ravaged worked on titles such as the Desert Combat, Battlefield 2, Frontlines."

Impressive graphics for only a $15k goal. Check out their FAQ.

Don't get me wrong, the original game is great but I do wish developers wouldn't rush to increase version numbers. Fine by me that it is an standalone expansion rather than a sequel because it is not a $60 title. |

eRe4s3r wrote on Mar 20, 2012, 10:26: Simulating water and power via agents seems like a wrong inefficient approach, after all... water and power are pressure/load systems. Water pressure and electrical load are not equivalent! Water pressure is a force, which for a city is constant force regulated typically by gravity, and electrical load is power consumed by a circuit.
An equivalent for water pressure would be electrical voltage, which for a city is a constant force assuming no power loss caused by transmission.
Being that water pressure and electrical voltage are constants, this is represented by the fixed agent size. What is important for water and power is supply. Supply is represented in two ways: 1) number of agents released per tick, and 2) the shrinking size of each agent.
If supply does not meet demand, meaning not enough agents or if agents disappear before reaching end-of-line, it will result in a water shortage/power outage.
Remember, Sim City doesn't actually simulate in real-time, but updates its data in 'x' ticks, a tick is an arbitrary unit for measuring internal system time. Agents are a good approach for water and power because they operate in ticks and represent supply.

| Pretty surprising to see a game coming to the PC, an unannounced platform, only 6 weeks from its console debut. Pretty shocking to see it being from a Japanese developed game. This is a rare sight and hopefully catches on with other Japanese developers |

Cutter wrote on Mar 6, 2012, 13:13: It's entirely a controller issue. MS and Sony have tried this too and to their great surprise *gasp* the console people always get utterly destroyed by PC players. So that's really not a whole lot of fun for them. So there's really no point in cross-platform play. Cross-play only applies to PC/MAC and PS3. PS3 has KB/M support. So it's not a controller issue.

For cross-play to work, patches have to be synchronize released between PC/Mac and PS3. Valve can release patches at anytime on PC/Mac, but on PS3, patches have to be certified by Sony's QA before being deployed. This certification process takes time, and will hold back patches for PC/Mac. Therefore, not to hamper each other, it is best to drop cross-play. |

Your problem is that you never played it with three other friends. The game rocked playing it four players Coop. That’s where the real fun was. How do you know I didn't try co-op. That was the first thing I tried!
Online was terrible on the PC. Being that it used Gamespy. You had to go beyond simple port forwarding to get it to work. Then once you get in a game with your buddies, you find out the AI is so stupid, that it can only target, if lucky, two people at a time. Gearbox (who I think are terrible devs, btw) fixed it like 5 months after release. By then, every one moved on. |
