Gee, Canadian company does well at Canadian awards show, shocker!

I think we're kind of getting used to rigged 'awards' shows after the IGF scandal.

12 people doesn't seem like that big a deal. It would be if they were making something I want to spend money on... Sadly the last thing they had was the kick starter project.

Well they needed to use the cash for their party with DJ Phil Fish instead. Maybe that was the cash that should have gone into Broken Age to finish the game that was promised. Or finish development on Spacebase DF-9 after collecting early access money.

Somehow I don't think they've got much credibility left...

Of course Broken Age wouldn't be affected...is part 2 even being worked on?

It shows the lack of justice when Apple skates on any significant punishment. Where's the jail time? Where are the significant fines?

I'm not sure how the EU is going to do that much to Google (other than locally). Given Google is based in Bermuda to avoid taxes, does the EU hold sway enough there?

That's not a wasted $44 of microtransactions from Ubi's perspective.

Wonder if they're in a cash flow crunch. They seem to be denying refunds and stalling. How long are those servers staying up again?

There are ads on websites? It's been so, so long since I've seen any.
Got tired of all the hijacking type ads in the past.

I would think they'd be more worried about the claims that DA:I is wrecking SSD drives...

At first I was concerned about that too, but it turns out to be a disreputable claim by Russian crackers. Read the comments in that thread. Also TB talked about it in his performance review saying it wasn't a credible claim.

Good to know.

Or 50 years in prison for sharing JSTOR docs. Just ask Aaron Swartz. Oh wait, you can't, because he killed himself when faced with such ridiculous charges.

With the excessive fines and punishment being threatened on everything, really they might as well just go for capital punishment instead to be more humane.

Definitely feeling like there's some fraud here. Guess Ian Bell was the one with the integrity in their prior partnership. Chargebacks all around.

I'll also add that the current Kickstarter for Thimbleweed Park (spiritual successor to Maniac Mansion) has now added DRM free. Don't give up on Kickstarter, not everyone's a Braben.

wow, a clunker that died at 100,000 miles? that's pretty bad in this day and age, even for american cars. i've only ever owned japanese cars, and they've all lasted me at least 100,000 miles before i sold them. my infiniti almost got to 220,000.

Given it was a Japanese car that died here, looks like Blue should have bought American.

Haven't missed a thing.

Impressive resolve, congrats! I think The Crew PS4 is going to be my first ubisoft game since the HOMM6 rootkit/not functional game fiasco.

I try to avoid Ubi, just haven`t managed to completely drop them.

296. Re: Refunds Demanded as Elite: Dangerous Offline Mode Scrapped Nov 18, 2014, 19:38 Julio

It's a bit hard to follow their forums at the moment but it looks like if you're a backer you don't get a refund; if you preordered you do.

I wonder what the Kickstarter terms & conditions are for refunds...

If your project is successfully funded, Kickstarter’s Terms of Use require creators to complete their projects and fulfill all rewards as promised. If you are unable to fulfill all of your project’s rewards, you should make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing your project to a satisfying conclusion for backers. Steps should include offering refunds, and detailing exactly how funds were used. For more information, see Section 4 of our Terms of Use.

Looks like Kickstarter needs to go after Braben here.

We have the exact same problems as the US with virtual monopolies/duopolies Canadians have less choices in everything comparatively! Either regulate all those fuckers and set a flat rate or really open up the markets and ensure competition. We're still overpaying and are caps are even worse than in the US so is that what US can learn?

I'd agree that the article paints way too rosy a picture of internet in Canada. Our virtual ISP monopoly is quiet and polite while they screw us.

Cutter wrote on Nov 18, 2014, 10:29:
why don't the fucking parents pay for their brats? People without kids are so sick of getting screwed by the breeders all the time. Take some fucking responsibility for your progeny.

Kids are expensive, most parents are paying a lot for them. We could have a society without kids, but it wouldn't last long. The children of "breeders" are there to pay high taxes due to overspending from previous generations and take those jobs caring for old people among other things.

Big difference between official reviews and user ratings so far. Will be interesting to see how this ends up.

Metacritic Critic Score 87
Metacritic User Score 5.6

Metacritic user reviews are as useless as the critic ones. "it doesn't run well on my low end pc. 0/10"

Watch some streams on twitch, decide if you like what you see.

I trust user reviews more than the critics.

Edit: As for EA hate, I'm not sure if that holds up on most of their titles. They do seem low in general, though in comparison Battlefield 4 got a 5.9 which is higher than DA:I. Still early though.
