Got Galaxy on Fire 2 for $12.80...

Thats going on my steam wishlist, thanks.

Ditto. Cool looking game. I didn't realize that there were companies still making good Wing Commander-like games.. hopefully the controls are decent =)

Gateway retail stores made similar cuts around the 7th (?) year they were in existence.

A year or two later they were closing various stores that were under-performing.

A year after that they started closing all of them.

Before that year was over they sold the company to E-Machines and closed the last of the stores.

Now, I know Gateway was never as relevant to the industry as Apple is now. I also know that at no point were the Gateway stores as successful financially as the Apple stores.

That said, all of us pretty much agree that retail outlets are a dieing breed for a great many types of products. If I were Apple, and maybe I was starting to feel like maybe we had reached the limit of our growth...or that it was going to slow down significantly at least...the first place I might start looking to cut back is the retail stores. A lot of costly overhead in retail that could probably be slowly cut away without affecting the actual sales numbers in any dramatic fashion.

But then where will all of the up-and-coming hipsters go to be "immersed" in the apple retail experience!? Starbucks?

To get into a MvM server avoid the Co-Op selection on the main menu screen and go to the server browser instead.

Just filter for "mvm", find a server with less than 6 players on it (*always* right click and view info before joining-- the server browser likes to lie) The beginners level is "mvm_Decoy" if you want to start off there to learn.

That way you avoid lines completely, but you may join a server that is part-way into a round. Doesnt really matter as you typically get more loot to start with and upgrade immediately to take on the advanced threat.

Pretty fun so far =) I noticed they just updated as well, so maybe the match finder is smoothed out too.. either way this will get in you in very quick.

Completely agree, who would put on Uplay after having such an obvious security flaw recently?

Makes you kind of question the timing of their "finding out" about this security flaw. Lets say they knew beforehand but did not want to ruffle feathers with the already-peeved PC gaming community about their DRM, but they realized that their Storefront was coming soon down the pipeline, and revealing a security breach *after* would completely discredit such a young platform. I just don't trust Ubi enough.. they have made some pretty signature blunders, not least among them is their DRM fiascos and completely abandoning online titles regularly within a couple years of launch. $1 prices are great and everything to have bargain-shopping PC gamers jump on-board for an early boost to your new platform.. but I don't think, with their history, that I will have anything to do with this.

Fucking awesome. I love how companies like Valve & CD Project support their games after release, to show appreciation for fans who already spent $$ on their games, as opposed to treating every feature coming down the pipeline as some monetization strategy.

Gross corporatism Vs. Customer appreciation.. hmm I wonder which will win in the long run

Who the hell is buying these games....LOL!

I used to have a model train setup a long, long time ago and when I get a feeling of nostalgia to want to get back into the hobby I just mess around with this simulator for an hour and save myself thousands of dollars and countless hours of time if I were to go the physical route.

OR you could still spend the $~1200 it costs for all the DLC if you want to get REALLY nostalgic about it ^_^

So how many people would look at you like you're a lunatic when you tell them they should be buying watches that don't keep time, cars that have major mechanical issues not covered under warranty, a brand new house with a roof that leaks just a little bit, a toothbrush that doesn't clean your teeth and only has a few sharp edges, toothpaste that only makes you want vomit a little, and milk that smells like onions.

How does that even make sense?

Bad analogies galore.. The game should still be fully functional which negates all of these analogies. A watch that is difficult or unsightly to read? A car with a bad paint job, a house with shite wallpaper, a toothbrush with.. wait what?

lol

Yeah this one reminds me of Omikron as well... let's see if it lives up to the standards. As usual console first means compromise on something, usually map size, interaction, character models...
at least it's the ps3 and not the lowest common denominator that is the 360.

Huh? Since when did the PS3 become more appealing of a console than the 360? Or more capable in any way for that matter? They both suck.

But why would you simply replay your copy when you can "Share your profile with friends online to find out who is the ultimate FINAL FANTASY fan."

Ultimate Final Fantasy Fan=Sucker in this scenario, particularly if you already have paid for/own this game.

MIDI music can be pretty awesome with the right hardware or soundfont/banks loaded.
It's getting the right banks though. But yeah, there's something special about midi music, especially on a really good soundfont set. Nothing really beat the old awe64 and Yamaha sets, they were great.

My favorite was always the Roland MT-32. I remember playing old sierra games when they first supported that, and WOW what a difference that made. It seemed like every game in the 90's had a MT-32 track.. and it made playing those supported games a completely different experience in most cases.

Anyone remember Silpheed & Sorcerian? Sierra brought those over from japan and they had two of the most intensely awesome MT-32 soundtracks I'd ever heard. The title screen to Sorcerian used to send chills down my spine.

Holy shit this may be the first time I've ever seen every commenter on blues share the same opinion!

And yes, fuck this article and fuck this port.

Okay, we signed a petition to bring the game to PC.. but bringing it to PC, they are not. They decided it would be a better idea to bring the PC to console levels.. what kind of fucking port is that!?

I remember back then coming to blues multiple times a day just to see .plan file updates from the guys at id. I did not understand much of the technical talk, but always read through it because of the respect I have for the writers and I always wanted to get into their minds and figure out what was coming down the pipeline..

The internet was so different back then, hahaha .plan files.. now we have facebook so every joe on the street can have his own. ^_^

JEEZ whats with all these gamers and their EXPECTATIONS of FUN?!

I don't think this is an industry where non-risk takers really thrive in the long run.

You can blame it on gamers all you want for wanting to spend their money wisely and not be gouged for some turd of a game, as we all have been in the past.

Keep referring to your playerbase as mindless sheep who only flock to the top 5, UBI... perception is reality, isn't it?
