I really want to add that some people are going overboard with the ship "buying" stuff -- a month after launch and we will be hearing complaints of how little all that meant once you get a ways into the game - most likely the best actual ships and upgrades cannot be insured AND cannot be docked (corvettes i believe are the largest ship that can dock) so your guild must have 24 hour coverage to protect your high value assets that you have to leave "parked" in space -- also if you have the free hanger perk well it is only on the starter planet so you will have to fly back there to avoid being charged

bottom line if you want to back the game fine - it helps CIG avoid getting "financial bakers with their own agendas" - but please lets try and get more people who are interested in playing such a game into a base package

Reminder: when playing a sandbox game, you need to look in the mirror and meet the person most responsible for your enjoyment of the game

huge guild hording? -- npc will comprise 85%~90% of the population - so if your large guild wants to take over antimatter production well your guild is 10% of the playerbase so that makes you 1% vs 85%~90% -- good luck with that -- not to mention we don't fully know the impact of instancing

where does it come from? -- we don't have all the info on sectors yet -- look here for what we have accumulated RSI Forums - League of Stellar Cartographers post I believe antimatter is in Kellog and in one of the Xi'an (green) sectors

84. Re: Star Citizen - Life Time Insurance Last Chance Jun 23, 2013, 15:02 Gnolt

Well to have doubts about the game in this area or that is legitimate.
Here is the thing though, how many games are even in this genre (space flight sim, rpg).
It's not like we are talking about a normal FPS, where there seems to be more in existence than is reasonable.
But that is really the issue, just like Zygna, other game companies go back and do the financially tried and true over and over,
creativity is not high on the agenda but copy catting is and gamers buy it just like fast food (you know it's not good for you but you do it anyway)
Do you think a large studio would try something like this? SWTOR had zillions in budget and gave us a rail shooter.

So, we can all have our doubts, lets just make sure to put it in perspective.
If the game succeeds or not financially, technically, socially, it has at least dared.

Not sure why we're mourning. All Disney did was technically finish what Lucas did years ago.

What was the last good LucasArts game?
What was the last any LucasArts game?

It's been dead for years.

totally agree - good move Disney now license some of those IPs and I might buy more of your stock

I'm a long time off and on player of CiM1 so I picked up CiM2 and was surprised at the UI hadn't gotten better it really could use some better ideas but i do like the new way routes work with the central depot and choosing a vehicle based on time. Prob a miss for most people, but this was never going to threaten the top ten to begin with, for me some days I just feel like making traffic do what i want for a change

34. Re: Nuketown 2025 II Map Pulled from Black Ops 2 Playlists Nov 21, 2012, 11:32 Gnolt

I don't own the game but the guys here in the office are telling me that the nuketown2025 map is a multiplayer only map. it has nothing to do with zombies. also it was available only to those who preordered the game. in addition to the map, it was also a double xp weekend and the moshpit option was the only way to get the double xp. now that the weekend is over, the moshpit option is gone. this is the normal process every time they have a double xp weekend. nothing new or special here.

i'm not worried about the mmo part - i'm far more concerned with gameplay, multiplayer (running my own server), and keeping my own server up to date

right... because on pc we have such an abundant number of space trade/combat sims to choose from

However, if you can play offline or on your own private server you shouldn't take issue with megacorp space bucks being given out for supporters just crank up your own and start without

Verno I get ya - just listening to some people talk about GW2 its like it cooks them meals and brushes their teeth or something - to me it's just a blast to be on a siege weapon and kill like 10 people in one shot half a map away who have NO IDEA what just happened .... omg I'm still cackling

i have played dungeons not many mind you and they were very different but in no way should anyone expect a year from now to find 6 tiers of dugeons in GW2 it's not that game

being an old guy and having played MMOs since MUDs I can tell you that I loved vanilla wow world pvp - rolled on a pvp server and really enjoyed the action in southshore and ashenvale - then they came out with battlegrounds and world pvp just died - well I'm having that kind of fun again with GW2 which I never expected having played some GW1 but now that I have its really easy for me to understand why people are buying it

if you like wow AND you like dungeon grinding dont bother with GW2

"Vancrash Saga of Desktop" is what we used to call it - lots of eye candy for the day, lots of exploration, tons of bugs. I loaded it back up late last year and tooled around seems to run much better now hopefully it will finally get a decent playerbase

This game should of been moved to F2P years ago

both DA and Skyrim have companions - would it be that hard to have a friend play as yours in your game and vice versa - wouldn't seem that hard to me and wouldn't even change the game any

most PC users prob wont need the LAA but if you start mod'ing you will quickly see the need - using the larger textures etc..

basically it's business as usual - they release a console port and the community eventually mods it to take better advantage of pc hardware

nothing new here aside from Steam originally releasing an exe they shouldn't have to begin with

If you REALLY want you can create another administrator user id - login with that id and remove all "write" "change perm" and "modify" rights for any other id to the steam game directory in question

would make it a pain to mod but thats the trade offs

all this really sounds like the arguments made when tv first started

look at point 9 in the following article - they actually credit video games with dropping crime rates bbc report on us crime downturn

also obesity is the largest health issue in north america - however while games may contribute to that - the widespread demographic would seem to suggest we all need to change our diets gamers and otherwise look at the following graph from the CDC obesity trends I should also add here that the diabetes trend looks just like the obesity one
