That's a ridiculous argument. By the same logic, then, everyone in the world is a burglar, since you most likely lock the door to your house when going out? They're not trying to stop burglars. They're trying to stop home owners from using the furniture they just bought in the way they choose.
but yeah, it may not be the most well thought out argument. |

I find the lack of buttons on my Desire Z is a bit annoying, on a TV remote etc. it would be atrocious. As you say, when not looking at something you need buttons. Haptic feedback can only help so much. It's a huge step backwards for accessibility too.
Seems to suggest we'll all be using wireless internet? No thanks. I prefer low latency and reliability.
Some recent research I saw still showed phone books were popular. I use them and I'm not old, honest.
Dictionaries and encyclopaedias are fair enough. Changes/additions happen so often that any book would be out of date before you got it. This obviously applies to phone books too but for some reason I still want them. x)
I still buy CDs. I rip them to FLAC and put them on HDDs mind, but I still buy them.

They are obviously talking to the whole PC gaming community. If they didn't think we were all pirates they wouldn't use DRM.
What difference does this leak make? Pirates will pirate, the rest (hopefully still most) of us will, um...well, I'm not really interested in this game but if I was I'd buy it.
Funny. Back when consoles did not have hard drives games had to basically be perfect. Did that slow down games being made? No it didn't. Because if it did by now we would be seeing less games than back in 1995. That is slightly unfair. Games are a tad more complex these days. Publishers obviously push them to release too soon though. People still buy buggy games, so why wouldn't they? |

And for Half Life 1 engine read Quake, and you can probably trace it back even further (I don't know what Carmack is/was like for code reuse). I don't think anyone's really expecting a complete rewrite. Would be a waste of resources.

A new and shiny Source is what they have claimed (can't remember where). It could be the Bethesda idea of new of course.

I've been ignoring all the promo stuff for that reason. I don't want to know anything about it.
I'm just waiting for news of the next delay (and HL2Ep3 ofc). |

All success needs luck but the talent is obvious here too. There are countless examples of luck bringing success with no talent involved of course.
I'm hoping Minecraft evolves into some kind of roguelike. I would definitely buy it then. |

The Blues News Commenter Hivemind Temper Tantrum strategy isn't really working out. Maybe something more constructive would help? It's cute that you think Blue's News is so important.
Is there much excitement around this game? I know they're trying to hype it but I'm not sure it's working. |

I almost feel sorry for them. The publishers really aren't playing ball.
Still, it's not like it could even work technically, and maybe (maybe) the likes of EA know that. |

I wish I could play it but I can't bring myself to. The DRM is way too draconian and I don't want to encourage it.
I really don't care about the delay between consoles and PCs. If they said they'd release it in two years time with no DRM (or just Steam) I'd be happy. |

theyarecomingforyou wrote on Jan 22, 2011, 19:11: *snip* I didn't suggest they put every game up for this. Some games are way too short, some start too slowly to catch potential buyers attention. I also suggested shorter rental periods.
So I guess we mostly agree. I do think that being a new business model they're likely to ignore it, even though they could benefit from it. |
