I'm sure there's a segment of PC gamers that would pick on console players, if that was possible.

No issues here with the latest Firefox or Thunderbird. Tried forcing the add-ons? They usually work.

I didn't think Minecraft used voxels, just good old polygons arranged into cubes.

That's why the only sports title they even do on PC anymore is Tiger.

FIFA as well, although apparently FIFA 12 is still using FIFA 11's engine on PC.
Where have you heard that? The devs have come out and stated the PC and console engines of FIFA 12 are identical. That's the only reason I was planning on picking it up, well that and the fact I haven't bought FIFA since '99.

I remember Outcast not really selling well because it was a voxel game that wouldn't use 3D cards, right after everyone and their grandma bought a 3D card for Quake 2.

I think the main reason why Outcast didn't sell well was because it looked weird and people had trouble classifying it. It had a unique setting, unique style and a hybrid of various gameplay mechanics. Such games rarely sell well.

There were undoubtedly a lot of reasons why Outcast didn't sell well, but most of the reviews I read at the time all harped over the fact that the thing didn't use your 3D card, and ran a bit like a bitch.

Btw, thanks for the explanations about the voxels-3D cards, guys.

Creston
I remember when the Outcast demo first came out (remember those?) and it ran like a complete slideshow on my 400Mhz PII. I revisited it on an Athlon 64, and of course it ran much better.

I want to see another voxel engine, if only for the nostalgia trip back to 1999. Outcast 2 anyone?

Just because the game isn't full price doesn't mean the publisher is taking the hit. I recently bought Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (excellent btw) for 7 lower than the Steam price but I doubt Capcom saw any less (well, maybe that's a bad example since it's retail vs DD but you get my point ). Besides, bigger budgets != better games.

I hate always on. It's stopped me buying a fair few games I wanted to play, but prices? Have games on PC ever been cheaper? The full retail price may have gone up in a lot of cases but who pays full retail?

I'm making an exception for Human Revolution based upon my experiences of it so far. It's my way of saying "Great job! More of this, please."
And if, heaven forbid, the final game turns out to be ultimately disappointing, they'll be very happy you did.

Do publishers really consider pre-order numbers post release when deciding to green light a follow-up? Surely all that matters is final sales.

You need to lighten up, Francis. What happened, did you get burned by previous pre-orders? It's like you have a vendetta about pre-orders.

Let go. Move on.
Whatever Louis, I've never pre-ordered a game. I just find the practice baffling and think it encourages lazy development. Although not so much in this case as it hasn't got much of a name to trade on for most people, especially after the last one.

I definitely plan on replaying it solo.

I should qualify my dissatisfaction by saying that I didn't get much of the story as, due to the chat bug, we had one guy talking with everyone, so I was left largely in the dark. He felt the same as me though.

No DM or CTF. Co-op only.
