News Comments > On Mass Effect 3 DRM
12. Re: On Mass Effect 3 DRM Feb 17, 2012, 22:52 reisub

It would be nice if EA's service would compete with Steam. There's still a lot of room for improvement there but I doubt EA feels the need to challenge Valve in terms of features etc, simply because it will be the only way to play EA's games from now on. Encourage other download services of course but I can't see this one benefiting gamers long-term.

BTW, I've been gaming since before steam existed if it matters.
Has anyone here not been? Just wondering.

It's only 3x what he thought it would cost isn't it? Maybe DF's adventure game will make them so much money they can self-finance (maybe :o); I doubt a kickstarter campaign alone would do it.

Fun like watching the Titanic sink live and in color?
But with more arcade machines and Quake DM.

Why keep mentioning Psychonauts 2 Blue? I don't get it. Even if it was set in the Psychonauts universe (which would be cool) I don't see how it could possibly be a sequel. It's a completely different genre.

Anyway, this is such a great story. People obviously know talent when they see it. It's clearly nostalgia too; they want to relive the glory days of Lucas Arts.

What is "retail"?
Where the console players still get their games apparently. It won't last.

From the start it was clear this was going to be less strategy, more action, but it should still be quite different to the current spate of FPSs. I certainly didn't hesitate in signing-up. It's free, so nothing to lose, plus the sound design alone makes me want to try it.

Would I be crossing a line if I post my registration link? Too late. x)

I assume they were stung by a sucession of failed hardware starting with the Mega/Sega-CD. The collapse of the arcade market outside Japan couldn't have helped either. I only ever owned Sega consoles. It's kinda sad how things have gone for them.

I'd love to know how this weekly steam sales post is somehow evidence of your particular position regarding the state of PC gaming.
I was wondering the same thing. It's pretty meaningless without sales numbers.

The main reason LG is pushing 4K (their version of 4K at least) is because the Film Pattern Retarder used in their passive 3D TVs basically halves the vertical resolution of 3D content. It's not quite as bad as it sounds as they show double the number of frames for each eye and your brain combines them into a 1080i image effectively. Still, far from ideal and some people can see the horizontal lines (alternate lines are polarised differently).

For games at least I'd like to see a high res head-mounted display that fills your field of view and has perfect head tracking. I'd call it...virtual reality. Probably wouldn't catch on.

I also have an extra copy of The Ship to gift. If anybody is still in need then let me know. First come first serve unless a better offer is made before I check the thread.
Oh, yes please. I have the same nick and avatar on Steam.

You caught me just before I went to bed I'll gift you The Ship when I get up later.
Thanks a lot. You're welcome to Serious Sam HD: FE if you don't already have it! Or anyone else for that matter, if you don't want it. Why are free games so hard to get rid of? x)

Here's an even longer shot than Portal, who wants Half-Life 2?

I'm not sure if I'd play Serious Sam or not. Probably not. I'd rather it found a home where it was loved and hugged and fed and... well, you get the idea.

I think I may have another copy of The Ship to give away, too. I misread it thinking one gift was the SP and one the MP, but it seems they both contain the whole package. So if anybody else is still wanting a copy of The Ship then chuck me a bone. Standard T&C's still apply.

I sent you a friend req., reisub. I'm the one with the baby in a helmet and about 230 hours in Skyrim. So far
Request accepted. Thanks again.

mch, you're welcome to it. As soon as Steam stops saying "This feature is not available at this time." when I try to add you I'll hook you up.

Anyone else think Valve should add a global market place for trading this kind of thing? Having said that, it would probably be down whenever you try to use it.
