We apologize for the fault in the data center's uninterruptible power supplies.

Those responsible for making sure the uninterruptible power supplies were not interrupted have been sacked.

Considering this is Valve, I would hope they would be moved to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center for testing purposes...

Hey Steam,

If you can't handle it; If you aren't going to do everything that is required to run a store, then maybe you shouldn't be running a store?

Never seen a city/town wide black out before? Same thing, or do you tell every store that doesn't have a big back up generator for those rare times the same thing?

How much did games like Amnesia, Bastion and Minecraft cost to make?

These games were great and sold great but as far as I know, they didn't cost millions upon millions to make. Just because you can spend millions on something doesn't mean that you need to, and there is a thing of too many people on a task.

Haven't bought many games lately and while I can't say much about the console side of it (haven't bought a console game for myself in over a year...), all my Windows games have been pretty much from the different indie bundles that keep coming out.
While not every game in each bundle is great or something I would play, there is at least 1+ per bundle it leaves me with more games then I can play.
Also there are the Steam sale bundles which also means more games for cheap. Buy in bulk and don't have to worry about new games for a while so my purchases drop heavily after bundles happen (indie and Steam bundles)

I think the prequel/remake is out on dvd now (or very soon), but sadly it didn't get very good reviews.

I saw it and honestly, it was bad. It is a prequel, not a remake and not a good one either. One of the things they didn't understand when making this movie was that the Thing wasn't shown on screen much originally not because it was hard for the effects, but that it helped add to the feel of the movie. In this prequel the Thing is on screen almost a third of the movie, and obviously CGI which just kills it. Less is more in this kind of movie, less really is more.

As good as an idea I think bundling games in this manner is for Indies, I'm still more inclined to buy my Indies on Steam daily deal sales for 2 to 4 bucks a piece

I prefer these bundles since they are more of a random grab bag. I know if it wasn't for them, I would never have played games like The Binding of Isaac.

I'm wondering if they have finally corrected the issue with the music links. I emailed them about it like 2 days ago and still nothing. One of the albums is a dead link for both the mp3 version as well as the flac version. Another album is one the second half of the album, tracks 7 thru 14 I think. All in all,a very poorly staffed bundle that I really wouldn't recommend.

I was a late comer to this one. Fun SP, but would love to do some MP.

My indie GOTY is The Binding of Isaac.

If you want to try multiplayer, you can hit up my Steam ID (slashimus).

Actually, it would be cool to get some Bluesnewsers together for some multiplayer at some point. (If we can drag them away from Skyrim...)

I have been considering getting The Binding of Isaac...I hear good things about it...but not its performance.

While I'm not playing Skyrim (I'm playing Fallout New Vegas still...) I'd be willing to try multiplayer when time permits it. My steam name is my Bluesnews name if you feel like trying with me. Be warned though, haven't played Sanctum in a few months so will be rusty

Fuck. you.

Oh, but because they expect to sell twice as many games will cost half as much!

Wait, they AREN'T going to discount the games?

Actually, game prices will be going up by 20% when the new xbox comes out.

I remember when PSX games were $40 new...

...
...
...

Granted I also remember my Sega Master System games being like $100+ (here in Canada in like the mid-late 80's)

Sweet!

I followed these guys on Facebook and pre-ordered the original almost immediately. Game played great at launch and just got better and better as they added to it.

Multiplayer is a blast as well.

My only slight concern is: "bringing the next version to console players..."

That worries me slightly... Uneasy

From what I remember, there really wouldn't have been a issue with porting the first one over to consoles as it is. Its based on the Unreal engine which is easily tuned to consoles and it even supports controllers out of the box. A quick port (more or less)

Granted, lets see if it gets dumbed down or notn (hopefully not).

On a side note, never played it multiplayer besides with one friend (who would be beside me). Don't normally trust random games of any game and only one of my friends has this game.

I boycott Apple because I value open, censorship-free platforms and freedom of choice.

This is why I won't buy Apple products.

Well that I keep hearing how people go "Apple can get suppliers in China to give them exclusive deals on supplies because they fund the company in China to build up the factory so they are able to make the hardware". So if this is right then every time someone buys an Apple product, more that could have been invested for technology and IP in North America (Canada or the US) is instead invested in China. This is were the jobs and future of tomorrow are going. (this isn't a anti-China rant, its a looking out for my own country rant).

Well how about another angle on the whole "buying used games" argument that I don't seem to ever seen mentioned in these articles and/or rants.

To start with, I buy new games and used games. Why do I buy used games though? Because its cheaper? No. Its because so many console games pretty much are forever gone from store shelves within a year. After that I have to go searching online and might not be able to buy it new any more. Then I have to go looking for a used copy. But with things like this, I'm being punished for buying it used. So I'm being punished for buying used because either a) I didn't have a (console of choice) at the time or b) wasn't into that type of game/series at the time. In this situation answer c) because it's cheaper wasn't even a part of the argument.

Always more then one angle to each argument.

The Joy2Key thing is a joke, in response to people asking for that feature so much. Went right over your head, apparently...

I think its more because its a flash game that they "ported" over to the OS of your choice (at least through the Humble Indie Bundle). I don't know how easy (or possible even) to allow for a game pad to be used through a flash game and would be why they tell you to use Joy2Key. (also if you go to the website shown at the start, Newgrounds.com, its a home for flash games)

Its also been the biggest issue for performance with the game, as it is one hell of a CPU hog and doesn't touch the GPU (again to what I know its because of the flash aspect of it). I've had massive frame rate drops in the game and I'm not using a weak system (nor am I alone). I have a Asus G53JW-A1 gaming laptop which has more then enough power to run a game as "simple" as this but the flash part is a bottle neck for it.

I guess we can end the discussion (since we agree on it) that this is simply a case of Pandora's Box, meaning the internet directly. It is a wild beast, great and beautiful in some ways, terrifying and sad in others and we cannot put it back in it's cage......

On a side note, the things I have seen which I wish I hadn't, on the internet, have made me a complete misanthrope.

So the internet is literally like any major city, sites to see, things to buy, posters and adds showing the latest and greatestthings to see/buy/do. Places to meet up and talk about subjects that you share interest in if you take the interest and moments to find them.

And like any major city there is crime, vandalism, 'violent' sex ( rape becoming child porn), black markets to get stolen good, organized crime which will sell you things for stuff like id fraud.

Only difference is its easier for everyone, including the police, to find the shadier parts of town.
