No kidding that tablets are out selling computers. The thing most companies just can't seem to understand is that a tablet beats out a laptop in almost every way... For half the price.

People want a machine that can Web surf, play movies and music and some games which both devices can do. The problems come up though that on average:

A tablet gets around eight hours of battery, a laptop maybe three or four.

A tablet has an amazing screen that has a high resolution that makes things look crisp and clear. A laptop will typically be running a tnt panel that has a limited viewing angle or has color issues and will most likely be around 1440*760, half that of a tablet.

A tablet weights a pound or less. A laptop is four pounds or more.

People like touch screens which tablets have. Laptops typically don't.

So in the end is no big surprise why tablets sell and laptops don't as well. For a typical user they both do what they need but the tablet is altogether a better buy, even before the price tag comes into play.

Tablets and smartphones will evolve to accommodate console-quality graphics, says EA's Gibeau.

Already, smartphones are powerful enough to run PS1-2 games, but we've not seen any of those ported, AFAIK.
GTA3, Vice City have already been ported over and they were PS2 games, FF4 Psp remake has also been ported which isn't the lowest power needed. The power is there, I think they are worried about sales since most games sell for $1-$2 which makes it unprofitable to make a major game.

Does this take into consideration the amounts lost from the Windows sales?

More and more people aren't buying Windows because honestly, why? They have their XBox for games and everything else can be done on their other devices. I still feel that the XBox was a poor business move on MS part

So... you don't pay for internet access?

Access and the product are 2 different things. Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, etc... the companies you pay for access don't own or control the internet.

Under this logic, Linux isn't free either since you need to have access to both the electricity and the internet to get a Linux ISO, which you've stated isn't free.

Hey, according to their highly paid lobbyists, they are in a healthy competition environment...

The world would be abetter place if they couldn't lobby. It has gotten so far out of control. I don't see how it is even legal, laws are now written by special interest groups....so sad.

The reality of it is the US isn't a democracy anymore and hasn't been for years. Its a crony capitalist nation borderlining a corporatocracy. More and more laws are made for the big business against the people, and will continue until there is a major shake up. But for that level of a shake up, it would take almost a revolution (which is what big business it trying to make sure can't happen, with more and more control over the internet and personal devices.)

hows that? are you happy now?

No, that's a pathetic answer and is completely in line with your entire trolling of this whole thing.

Why does it suck? You wanted jdreyer to explain why he thought it was good, but you can't even say one reason why you didn't like it.

Honestly, you seem more like a trolling hipster that wants to claim its bad only because others like it, with zero other reason other then others liked it.

Ok, your turn. I'm sure you must have millions of hours logged into DayZ that your word is all but gospel at this point. So, enlighten us with your masterful viewpoint of this game, and allow us to bask in you telling us how many millions of hours you have played of it. And how it doesn't compare to other mods out there?

Or you can keep trolling, badly. Your call.

MisterBenn wrote on Dec 29, 2012, 22:21:
We have a rating system now, the Windows Experience Index

Sorry, but that rating system is garbage. It was a neat idea, but its garbage.

According to it, my laptop is rated 5.1 when I first got it (I think, I'm on Linux now so can't check). So, I had 6 gigs of RAM, and I decided to upgrade it to 14 gigs of RAM. With this speed boost, my laptop has the blazing score of... 5.1 No change and this is what kills it. It keeps telling me my laptops score is 5.1 because of my HDD isn't the fastest R/W speeds (compared to a SSD). This doesn't really hold much difference on games though.

What would really help make an improvement is a standard software checker that each digital store can freely use (since almost all software is now bought digitally). What it could do is check all of your hardware and use it as a filter to filter out all games that wouldn't run on your computer at an acceptable level (and stop using this "bare minimum" BS that means if you turn off/minimum setting of EVERY thing in game it might run at 20FPS... might...) Kinda like how the Android market works, if your specs shouldn't be able to run it, then it doesn't show up for sale. (Yes, I know that it isn't always the simple, some people are just greedy and will lower their requirements for a quick buck).

And of course, have an option to show games that your system can't run so you can look and what not, see what specs you might upgrade, giftable objects, etc... but with a warning in like red on the game screen that you can't run this game (like Steam does with games you already own).

Smart TV, lol. Probably from the same clowns that thought 3D was a good idea.

My roommate has one and he uses it for the built in Netflix more then anything else. About 95% of it's usage is Netflix which is part of being a Smart TV.

Is the UI reasonable? Most Netflix apps built into TV units has been unacceptably laggy.

I honestly don't know, I don't use it, he does. But I do know that he prefers it over the PS3 and doesn't HDMI it from his laptop so it must be good enough for him.
