How do? 3D Vision is 3D using stereoscopic glasses.

I tried it once at PAX several years ago with Res Evil 5. I hated it. I don't want to wear headgear and I don't feel that 3D makes my gaming any more enjoyable. After seeing a few movies in 3D I don't care to see another. A good movie is a good movie. 3D doesn't help movies but definitely hinders them.

3D glasses at the cinema use passive technology at 24fps, which creates that cheesy 3d movie effect that just looks fake. 3D Vision uses active technology and allows for 60fps, which makes games look like real life, and is quite obviously amazing to witness. It's the only new visual technology worth mentioning since the release of the first 3DFX card, imo. OK, maybe the advent of AA+AF is also a big deal. Let's say in the last 10 years then.

if you hated 3D Vision when you tried it, there is a very likely explanation: it wasn't properly configured. the system has to be set up by someone who knows what they're doing (note: an nvidia employee or whatever being there is far from a guarantee of that). you may also have tried the older 3d vision 1 system, which wasn't as good. in any case, I mean, I'm at a loss here. I understand that wearing glasses is a technical limitation, but the way I see it, it's sure as hell better to deal with than 2D. at least you forget you're wearing the glasses after a few minutes, whereas in 2D the game will remain unimpressive, flat and lifeless forever.

After playing The Witcher 2 in 3D which is quite an impressive experience, it's a huge downgrade to go back to 2D for the sequel. 2D is kinda lame by now, I'm truly astounded by the vast amount of people that have yet to move on.

As for me, unless they fix the graphics or someone in the community does it, they can forget about my money. It takes 15 minutes to fix a graphics engine when you're the one who coded it into the game, there's no excuse really.

Holy shit! Does it really say 3D Vision? No way! Fuck yeah!! That's gonna be fucking amazing.

All those poor 20fps 4k dweebs have NO IDEA what they're gonna miss out on.

I'm still baffled at all the interest there is for this while 3D Vision, which is arguably a superior and much more versatile system, remains largely an underground thing. Personally I'm done with 2D, it has about as much relevance in gaming for me as black & white. Even the hand drawn games like Rayman are meant to be played in 3D now.

I don't like physx. I don't care if Havoc is technically less realistic, it certainly looks less goofy than physx to me. 3D is supposed to be the future, not physx, and indeed nVidia is screwing the pooch with that one as well. 3D Vision is fantastic on a hardware standpoint, but absolutely pathetic on the software side, with an appalling driver package that might as well still be in alpha, and a development team that quite simply deserves to get fired.

the point of Doom3 BFG is 3D support. I have never played Doom3 before, and I thought I never would because I don't game in 2D anymore, but now I'll be able to. Been waiting for this sale for a while, looking forward to start this, apparently it's a great 3d experience.

Now there's the kind of enthusiasm that can make me interested in a console port. If it works well in 3D, I'm surely going to support them.

I don't see what's wrong with the tech. I love my VG278h to death, and to me, 2d is over. The only possible improvements would be 240hz so I could play at 120fps, true 0ms response time so there would never be any crosstalk, and of course, I wouldn't mind glass-less, but that's not a bother at all, you forget you have the glasses on quickly. These issues will all be resolved in time.

Yeah. Who cares about total immersion and the game coming to life and looking 10 times better. 2D is clearly the way forward. Not.

I hope it looks as good in 3D as RE5 did. If so, instant buy.

I'm a big blu-ray fan but the guy has a point, where the hell are the Before Sunrise and Before Sunset blu-rays. Should have been out for a while by now.

I guess I can see the blu-ray experience being not quite as good with a TV and standalone blu-ray player. On PC though it's miles above any rip you can find (other that a straight, 25gb+ BD rip which can be good)

My thoughts exactly. "a long way from Valve shipping any sort of hardware"? A new valve time event starts now. This is history in the making.

I would have been interested in getting to like this game (even if it's only Tribes in name) if it worked in 3d. As it stands I'm quickly losing interest in supporting developers who desperately cling on to last millenia's tech and try to force it onto everyone.

so how do you guys manage to like this game? I assume you never played the first? there's no sense of momentum, terminal velocity is way too slow, and the maps are practically flatland... looks like t:v all over again to me...

yeah, I bet it'll be such a profound effect that AA support will still be shoddy at best and no improvements to 3d vision support will be found.

I tried this beta. I spawned on, in Tribes terms, flatland. I saw some mountains in the distance where I could potentially have some satisfying skiing. a hard-wall barrier blocked the way. not sure I'll be looking back at this.

And here's the open letter from the community to the developers, listing our official, non-negotiable requests for fixes and features:

They better "spend a great deal of time" looking at it, considering the huge amount of support is has.

By now I really wonder why this... organization?, still exists, they have never done anything noteworthy, nor received any support from the pc gaming community... on the contrary, we demand they they kick out Epic from the group because it makes the whole thing seem like no less than a joke.
