They don't make any money on Blizzcon. In fact, they lose money.

They can afford to lose some pocket change, compared to the unlimited money bags they collect monthly from WoW. It's prestige. Prestige is never meant to turn a profit. Like a restaurant that sells expensive imported beer on tap, that loses 1$ per glass. But then they sell $1,000 worth of hotdogs to more than make up for it. Cry me a river anytime a major corporation announces operating losses. Blizzard, I will pay $1,000 if you drop me Diablo3 after dinner , into my swag bag. Otherwise, no thx. I'll continue my own charity donations elsewhere.

Man are we witnessing the internet infrastructure falling apart? Sony, Amazon, Cloud, what's going on? Too many topologies, and probably 56K dialup users messing with the balance. Shouldn't everything just be on torrent technology? Do I sound like a noob?

" Three (four?) different studios worked on this, I somehow doubt it's a cohesive experience."

Don't worry about that 95%+ of this game was made by 3DR, but in May 2009 they fired the entire dev team for financial reasons. At that point they were planning to go gold on April 1, 2010(and would have made it according to Jason Bergman who was Take Two's Producer on the game back then). Shortly after the team was fired 9 of them started working on the game for free out of their own houses/apartments they worked out a deal with 3D Realms to be able to continue doing and and formed Triptych Games. By late 2009 Tripych had finished the singleplayer portion of the PC version. At around the same time Gearbox got involved in the project and bought the Duke IP. Gearbox has assisted Tripych with polishing the game, providing QA, Production, Engineering and Art resoursces. Gearbox assigned the Multiplayer as well as the PS3 port to Piranha Games, but the MP is build on 3DR/Triptych levels.

IF Duke could arm himself, dual wield flame throwers, and take a flamethrow of each of these companies in game, would probably be one of the best gaming moments of all time.

so they finally found a 2nd 5.25" floppy drive reader to duplicate for gold? I am somewhat sad though, I sincerely hoped it would take forever to come out.

Yep TL1 had zero replayability factor, and coupled with the fact that too often times, dropped loot had exact same specs as what you already had, made the game go from a high, to a low, faster than most games of yore. TL2 must improve on that to succeed for me. And it must be released 4 to 6 months before Diablo 3, otherwise, don't bother, really Runic.

The only reason why I ever bought that game in its release, was because Bill Roper's name was attached to it. Boy was I ever let down. The CD is long shattered and gone to trash land, good riddance. The repeat level design was so discouraging, but still had some mild potential. But the identical level design and scripted mob spawns was just ... I prefer to play Freecell.

So Blizzard is still making "concept" art , and they want to drive hard for 2011? I am starting to doubt 2012 release at all.

The 7th guest was the reason I spent $1,000 to buy my first 2x speed CD Rom and an ISA Sound Blaster PRO sound card for my 386 33MHz back in the day.

God that game was hauntingly beautiful, one of the finest musical scores ever to accompany such a genre, I hope GOG releases it back to us, and perhaps if Trilobyte can make a remake in 1080p Glory.

I remember having worked at computer retail, I sold over 500 copies of this game in oem format throughout the year.

I remember watching a Command and Conquer tournament, actually sponsored by the developer I believe, in which every.single.player was doing the exact.same.thing. Strategy game? Pffttt, please.

you don't mean to say like chess, where both sides, black and white, have the exact same pieces, and tend to do the same things? oh gawd!

I would pay $300 to go to Blizzcon only if I get Diablo 3 game in my bag. How cool would that be? unfortunately, people with that much money at Blizzard are so stuck up, they could never offer anything like that to the people that got them there in the first place. Ah well, I'll just have to wait until 2012. No biggie, I got the witcher2 and Skyrim to hold me over.

Make it like Generals Zerohour , please! Just optimize the multiplayer lag, anti-cheat (fog of war reveal). Best RTS ever. Simple, effective, like a good game of chess. featuring opening, mid, and endgame plays. Don't need a story, just make it multiplayer exclusive. or AI sandbox mode, and team compstomps. It would also be fun to take it to the next level, where you can host a 8 vs 1 game, where you are the 1 lone defendor, with access to cool unique weaponry, and features, to hold off the hoarde yourself.

clearly, they were too busy maintaining wow cash machine, and tailoring to that crowd for way too long, it rubbed off into the production of D3. Don't tell me they had a different team, because all D3 is, is WoW look, skinned SC2 units with different animations, and money to pay their employees from WOW. D3 better have proper immersion and gameplay or RIP Blizzard forever. There are five hundred talented indie game developers ready to hatch to bury this Goliath once and for all! lol Blizzard, wut, made 3 games in 25 years? Your iceberg has cracked and sailing to the equator. (along with your frozen throne wedged in it)

rant aside, I will still play to finish D3, but for the love of god do something about the texture of your floors. you make 3 Billion dollars a year, and all you can do is paste a Gouraud shaded pastel look onto the floor? Holy Mary mother of Jesus!

Graphics look just fine. There's going to be gore galore, tons of mobs on screen, cool lighting and super stylistic graphics - and it will run on your system. Don't knock it until you play it and get a feel for how smooth it runs.

so, you are saying it took them 10 long years to copy the Torchlight engine?

One thing for sure, the D3 cinematic cutscenes will not look anywhere as great as they did on D2. I know this from looking at the Botox-lipped Assassin. Dumbed Down. as with everything nowadays. I might be pleasantly surprised when the game does finally release. I'm still kepping an open mind. But I fear on the clean 3D spirtes, and the squeaky clean 3D drawn evironments, that will send shivers of dissapoint down my spine.
