SONY is ditching the cell for their next console so that should say something about how awesome the cell is for gaming hardware.

the recent episode where everyone leaves the safety of the farm separately (including the pregnant woman) and then everyone ends up in big danger was beyond all reasonable logic. The show is losing me....

the eurogamer review is the fluffiest review of the bunch. Did they even finish the game before reviewing? Giant bomb -- at least so far -- is the only review that might be called remotely negative.

Darks I totally agree about metacritic -- but it looks like a crazed vendettra is going on over there about this one game.

Not the usual or expected crap that happens at metacritic.

I scanned thru a whole bunch of user reviews that only VERY few mention the DRM at all. Which is devious of the trolls ? or something else is going on.

I am smiling at the possibility that this news will stress out all of the suits at Origin/EA. I am hearing that the 360 image works but I dont know that for a fact.

Not sure this gadget will fly. It would need the adoption level of a console and that is asking for a lot in the first gen -- and during a global recession.

Hope Valve has an big advertising budget.

It will be fun to see what happens.

True Bumby but on the otherhand, the series so far has taken real historical buildings and made them centerpieces of the "climbing" part of the game. SO it leaves one wondering what the city landscapes will look like. 1700's America was not a place of tall buildings and what was tall was mostly steeple.

the look and sounds of the game were the most interesting thing about these games. I am not entirely sure the gameplay will hold up. The AI of the "enemies" in particular was not awesome.

funny thing about the xbox cloud is that many major games wont let you save the savegame files to the cloud. You get a message to the effect.

Given that buildings of that era were rarely more than 3 stories tall (even the central town churches were 2 stories) I am not sure how much "building climbing" will be in the game. I am sure they will fudge the details for the good of the gameplay.

I really think littleme is right. Bloom uses little GPU and hides low-rez textures and low polygons. Perfect for consoles.

Have to disagree there -- there's a strategic point with needing to rest. Otherwise you can walk thru a big dungeon and spam enemies with unlimited level 7 fireball spells. No fun in that unless you want an action game. Dragon Age tried to real-time wizard spell casting and it failed: my gang of 3 wizards fried everything in front of them at hard difficulty. I think they nerfed fireball in the first patch and it still didnt fix the problem.

The latest rumour is that it is BG2 for ipad btw.

The reviews of SSX are mentioning very aggressive real-money micro-transactions for in-game-equipment such that completing the game is difficult without buying stuff. Yay.

blarg -- I haven't thought about game cracks for even a microsecond in over a decade and then I see these news items and start pondering ways of getting around the install of a network-based game client.
