there might be some issues running these games on a netbook even with the GOG updates, so check the usual forums before you buy. I was ready to get HOMMIII but there's no point for me if its buggy on a netbook.

active shutter glasses have been around in gaming (with nvidia) for 15 years now and they still have the problem that the shuttering notably darkens the graphics. you can boost the gamma but that of course washes out everything in the process.

Ebook pricing: the article seems to have it all wrong.

There was a well-publicized and short feud between Apple and Amazon in which Amazon wanted to discount ebooks (which they had already been doing for a few years) and Apple said no they wanted to charge full price on all ebooks. The book publishers obviously sided with Apple and told Amazon it couldnt sell their books anymore unless it agreed to sell ebooks only at full price. Apple pushed the whole issue forward.

Last night I watched several different gameplay movies of DAII.

I am not wholly against an action RPG, but the combat looked too frantic (too much going on outside of my control AKA the game is playing itself) and the "story" frankly looked kinda adolescent when I would have liked a darker-themed story-line.

its a pass until it goes down to 20 bucks.

the article hits the nail on the head. Not that BioWare actually cares -- let's be honest.

the first one is by far the better one. And that's the one almost no one played.

It has about 6 (?) different endings and all are worth seeing. My fave is when the tentacle gets the meteor.

Reading this, I suspect much of Romero's 'Doom' money is long spent. Those Doom and Quake guys made a ton of $$ through direct sales via shareware. Think he's just trying to figure out to pay the bills these days.

Sapharo, the Valve announcement was vague and puffy with non-specifics, but you are the expert.

for the first time in years I got an email from blizzard saying I should re-activate my WOW account and "get 7 days of WOW free." Just wondering if WOW is worried about Rift.

The Wii was not _really_ 250 bucks at launch. Virtually everyone immediately bought the 2nd controller for 50-ish bucks, and then there's all of the wacky attachments that very quickly followed and were bought in droves. In practice, not a "cheap system to buy" as the article suggests. Major profit for Nintendo.

Problem is that every HDTV model is different how it handles incoming computer video signals. Some TV's will a few options to tweak, but many have none when it comes to the PC input, not even "fit to screen."

I am assuming Steam will try some version of HDMI output to bypass the thorny issue of PC video signals on an hdtv.

Sounds too fiddly for the average consumer.

Apple No Longer 'Thinks Different'.

Not a fan of Apple's closed systems and expensive hardware but geez this article is rambling, whiny and pointless.

A 600 buck ipad with a pretty screen and not much else going for it? And then it sells well to the public. Now that's something to talk about.

I enjoyed the amusing UK banter and general low-brow mindlessness of fable 2, but 3 was a big mistake. Avoid it if you can.

i am happy to see that a lot of the ugly and over-used bloom and HDR effects are more sparingly used this time. Oblivion was ridiculous with the bloom. The white sheep glowed like they were light sources.

the tone of the entire post was a bit odd though, and no real specifics are given, which doesnt help his case at all. Not saying the poster is wrong but he sounds like he got bored and is looking for a reason to quit WOW.

"I find myself logging on a lot less than I used to. Suddenly things just don't feel so easy to learn or as friendly anymore."
