The biggest constant issue with the combat is that ALL of the enemies would regularly leave cover and run right at you once you were spotted, making them easy pickings with a machine gun and a grenade. Didnt matter which area, the AI always always did this.

as long as it is not super short, I'll be happy with a re-tread of those old Dark Alliance games.

I rarely get annoyed with crappy articles from anywhere, but that "editorial" from IGN about how DA2 is actually a great game is blood-boiling.

The writer is talking out of both sides of his mouth in virtually every sentence.

A+ story and dialog interface. Choices actually mattered.

D- combat and stealth. Just wretched.

Thing is though,I really, really enjoyed the story part of the game so I cant hate the game.

Sorry but it is completely reasonable for SONY to have known that the stolen information could easily be used to hijack existing accounts thru the "password recovery" system. Completely dunderheaded of SONY.

ME 2 was a guilty pleasure: the combat was still wonky as ever and the "choices" we get to make are far too black and white, but I enjoyed the bizarre characters and the sci-fi story line

HDMI cables -- the underlying issue is that lots of folks are still using first gen HDMI cables that do not work well on current gen TV's. Consumers will think their new TV sucks when actually it is the old cable they used from their old HDTV....

Yes its a softcap _now_ while the ISP's are figuring if the typical consumer will be OK with data limits. Testing the waters for new revenue sources. The underlying desire is making consumers pay for every megabyte used on a home ISP, like how we currently pay for electricity and gas.

In less than 2 years the cost of everything related to "digital content in the home" will go up up up up -- and that includes streaming. The market wants to do this and they will do it.

Chris Avellone has considerable talents as a writer of stories, but otherwise imho Obsidian repeatedly stumbles with adapting existing game engines to their needs.

"Given their latest efforts, I don't think Obsidian is up to the task."

well said, in a nutshell

In the last 5 years they've made several non-FF games that look and play the same, and often using the same engine and assets. Square Enix genuinely seemed to think that the game consumer would love MOTS that was _literally_ MOTS.

it is at the point now where I dont even bother thinking about turning on the PS3. Why bother if it is going to be offline for another week.. or 2 weeks, or who knows when.

Most casual games are 100% mindless but so is most of the stuff mass consumers want and will pay for. Social gaming is here to stay.

I like the graphical look of Brink -- over-saturated colors as usual but the bitmaps look crisp -- no crappy blur effects.

3ds -- Too expensive for the primary consumer, which is little kids. Bigger kids are interested in their android phones.

Nintendo _knows_ this. The question is what they will do about it....

The dissonance with achievements is that you earn 90% of them merely by completing the game in a normal manner -- that is not an "achievement." Hilarious to me that they are called achievements.

Let's call them "heroic achievements" for extra silliness.

I hope the combat is not too twitch-based:

"Sword fighting is visceral and tactical. It's a mix of player skill and quick thinking and character skill (for instance, unlocking parrying skills and various extra attacks) rather than invisible dice rolls or the unusual timing mini-game of the first Witcher. "

There's no question that DLC was a reaction to the proliferation of used games sales at retail vendors. And it really _worked_ for the game companies. DLC is mostly crud (not all but easily 90%) that takes little $$ to make and it sells for years on LIVE. Total profit. So now, DLC is utterly mandatory in any major release game.

Game companies LOVE digital as long as its on Steam, LIVE, PSN -- distribution is controlled and payment is assured.
